Good tips but not having bathrooms on their own dedicated water filter loop is just a recipe for disaster! (just don't forget a pressure release valve for when it backs up since you create water while dups use the loo!
I never use the Algae Distiler and I totally forgot that it generates Polluted Water 😂... Good video, can't wait for your Spaced Out walkthrough, your base game one made me a decent player and now I'm running a full achievement run on Spaced Out, want to know what I could be missing 😊
For anyone looking for a truly *Mad* Scientist solution, petroleum boilers are water positive, and as long as you keep the petrol generators cold, the water is only 40C. That said, if getting water is the entire reason you're building a boiler, as opposed to literally any other use for petroleum and/or boilers, maybe you should stop and think if you actually *need* it.
....DUDE, BOTTLED LIQUIDS ARE *ALWAYS* FREEZING INTO SOLID TILES SO IT'S POSSIBLE TO MAKE ETHANOL DISTILLER RINNING SOLELY ON WILD ARBORS.............HEHE.....YUP, WITH BOTTLED LIQUID SULPHUR AND MOVE TOOL, HEHE.... ......YUP, 750g/s FOR KIND OF 32 WILD ARBORS ...... WHICH ARE RELATIVELY TIME CONSUMING TO PLANT,BUT *STILL* .............AND U MAY PUSH IT EVEN FURTHER BY ABUSING *_SUBLIMATION STATION+PUFT RANCHING+ALGAE DISTILLER_* , RIGHT????...... ........ OR HOW IT'LL LOOK AT NORMAL GAME I DONT KNOW, LIKE A ROW OF STORAGE BINS WITH GAS PUMPS, RIGHT????????........... .......... AND PETROLEUM BOILER IS LIKE "WHY" BECAUSE NATURAL GAS BOILER, RIGHT???…..
Absolutely amazing game. I love games where you have to manage things and juggle the plates to keep everything going, this is a thinking player's game for sure. I used to play two point hospital and liked the thought process in that. As someone has touched on, the game presents you with problems that have multiple solutions, and complete freedom with how you organise and build. This type of game takes it to the next level. And they keep updating it with patches, it is still reasonably priced on Steam and well supported by mod writers. Magnet thank you for explaining all of this. I am going to find other walkthroughs of yours because I really like that conveyor setup, I have no idea how to use conveyors yet.
@5:26 you say that Berry Sludge is more efficient, but in every recipe when its cooked the sleet wheat is contributing 400 calories per seed. While there is an "additional" 400 gained from Berry Sludge arguably that comes from the "cooking" of the bristle berry where it always "gains" 400 calories when cooked. Either into Gristle Berry or when made into Berry Sludge.
I meant moreso that it is efficient for the water used, and if you are relying on the natural sleet wheat (requiring no water). That allows me to really reduce the amount of blossoms I'm growing.
Berry Sludge has a nice benefit in Spaced Out I haven't seen many people touch on - its already 2 of 3 ingredients to make mixed berry pie. The other berries it uses are fed with sulfur which doesn't have much use otherwise, making it a relatively cheap quality 5 food if you have a sulfur geyser somewhere.
Algae terrariums are pretty good since it produces polutted water the loss in water for oxygen is minimal. It also removes CO2. Like 5 - 7of these can supply your whole base with oxygen (with some good gas pumping you can supply your whole base)
......DUDE, TRY TO ENTOMB FLOWER POT WITH STUFF LIKE SAND AND FORCE PIP TO PLANT SOMETHING OVER THERE SO THEN U CAN MULTIPLY THAT WHATEVER BY FLOWER POT'S "COPY SETTING" BUTTON ......SO U CAN ACTUALLY GROW LOTS OF DUSK CAPS LIKE FOR FREE, AND FRIED MUSHROOMS ARE +1 FOOD QUALITY, RIGHT????...... .......VERY NICE SURVIVAL TIP, I GUESS.... HEHE
Nice a guide I really need. I have an overshadowing issue with water that my temperature always is horrid and feels unmanaged. And most solutions eat up power, costing important resources.. And boom dominoes keep falling, fixing issue after issue, cycle 1000 hit and another playthrough where I don't see space
1 - Emergency / basic power 1 - manual generator room on a main power line with batteries, transformers to send power where needed. Each dedicated dupe can average 350W or so per cycle, depending on schedule and distance from food/bedroom/bathroom 2 - Emergency power 2 - wood generators - only possible if you have arbor trees - incredibly inefficient, converting wood to ethanol is much better though still not an ideal power source 3 - Common power 1 - coal generators, maintained by hatches making coal (until their rocks run out... or you tame a volcano to make rock for stone hatches) 4 - Common power 2 - hydrogen/natgas generators with some backup tanks fed from 150C hydrogen/natgas vents and oil well venting (or larger early tamers to cool the 500C vents) 5 - Common power 3 - petroleum generators, dupe-operated refinery, capped output averaging 4.4KW per dupe, including down-times 6 - Intermediate power 1 - solar panels basically free power, but needs protection from meteors on meteor asteroids 7 - Intermediate power 2 - metal refinery and steam turbine combo - every metal refinement except gold will be power positive (even with AT cooling!), but requires starting input to get gains 8 - Intermediate power 3 - metal volcano tamers - passive in-chamber cooling down to ~140C with aquatuner, then forced cooling down to ~22C, overall power positive even with gold volcanos, no dupe labor or input resources needed once built, variable power but I never had any turn off. 9 - Intermediate power 4 -hot-core steam turbines - dig to near magma layer, build steam turbine chamber, build heat spike to touch magma, doors connected to temp sensors in steam room, most bases can be powered a thousand cycles with ten turbines here. Connect to smart battery and turn off when not needed to conserve your heat. Requires dupe labor to dig out rock and expand heat spike. 10 - Intermediate power 5 - arbor tree wood to ethanol for petroleum generators - sub-optimal for power, but great for making dirt. Dupe labor intensive for whole system, including parts outside of power production. 11 - Intermediate power 6 - petroleum boiler - use magma source to turn crude oil directly into petroleum for 100% conversion rate instead of refinery's 50% loss, can pump crude oil forever and burn 10KW of petroleum forever 12 - Advanced power 1 - magma volcano tamers - A map full of volcanos can basically be constant 20-30KW free power all the time forever 13 - Advanced power 2 - regolith cooler - space scanner, space doors, autominers and autosweepers move regolith to cooling chamber, can be constant 10KW forever 14 - Advanced power 3 - regolith melter - instead of cooling regolith, heat it up to magma where the potential energy in heat is magically multiplied by 5, then cool it similar to volcano tamer, can be constant 50KW forever 15 - Advanced power 4 - sour gas boiler - heat crude oil to sour gas, freeze it to methane, re-heat back to natural gas. Instead of petroleum boiler's constant 10KW, this will produce constant 50KW+ 16 - Advanced power 5 - rocket chamber - capture rocket exhaust heat and/or rocket exhaust for power with steam turbines - effective with petroleum and hydrogen rockets 17 - Advanced power 6 - nuclear reactor (Spaced Out DLC only) - basically generates heat for 12 steam turbines constantly, constant 10KW, radiation and nuclear waste can have important Spaced Out DLC uses. Main advantage is building these on asteroids with few natural power sources in addition to main asteroid for radiation uses. Required 10KG uranium per cycle, a beeta farm, and mining trips to uranium-rich space resource sites.
How are Algae Terrariums *really* bad. Since you can recycle the polluted water back into water, they don't have a terribly high water cost. They aren't sustainable forever. But that small water loss seemed to be offset to me by the fact that they don't keep stopping at 1800g of pressure
