I’ve had 2 stolen through the years, only had the serial number for one. Fortunately the dealer put the number on the receipt. I made a report with LEO, didn’t bother on the other for lack of having the number. Good luck with finding the owner. Never got mine back.
You're a great person for doing right. I wish i could get mine back too, had 6 chainsaws stolen from me, along with all of my tools. 2 year drug's bronken into my tool shead, they took everything from me. I will share, but i dont think it was stolning from Arizona.
I have purchased items from Auction and Inherited items with peoples names on them, did my due diligence to find out. Nothing has ever came back stolen... your hot saw might not be as hot as you think. Interesting content 😊🤷🤔
I actually enjoy the “saw buying experience” sometimes I end up looking at antique cars or boats- Sorry your buying experience wasn’t good and I hope the J Red finds its way home 🙏🏽
Yep. I've got probably 20 jonsered saws right now from a dealer. All tags been chipped out due to warranty work. I've sold a couple now so hopefully nobodies thinking I've been robbing strictly jonsereds............
Same here. I have a 357xp that had the tag removed. Got it from a close friend that use to own a husky dealership. He said the same thing about warranties
Just because Vin plate is missing doesn't mean it's stolen. I have a husqvarna 450 that I bought new that tag fell off. Bottom rivet popped out about 6 months ago. I never bothered to fix it and a couple weeks ago I noticed entire tag is gone.
And my wife lost my mariyama b23 trimmer out of our truck it was in the backend was brand new like 3 weeks old and it slide out of the back of it because she forgot to shot the tailgate it was never found so whoever has it have a awesome trimmer
More likely than not it’s a stolen saw, but could be a genuine mistake of changing hands a few times even before it got to you. Or like you said there is a chance of other circumstances where you just got a used saw at a fair price, doing this hopefully clears your conscious
A missing serial plate/tag does not necessarily mean it's stolen... they can just fall off. I've had that happen. Also, could it be a company name scribed on the tank then and was sold down the line?... Then someone decided to cover it?🤷🏻♂️
Hopefully you called the sheriffs/police department. Nobody is going to report the serial number but they’d have the model and name of the owner. So departments are great with keeping and checking records. Unfortunately many don’t care at all but around here anyway they have computer databases of the surrounding counties stolen goods. Chances are they stole more than just the saw out of the back of the truck so likely it was reported. Doesn’t mean the police Chiefs girlfriend who works in evidence is going to spend any time on it, but it’s possible
Somebody stole 2 poulans out of a toolbox from a guy i know. They were new and didnt work very good. I would be pissed if my echo or husqvarna got stolen.
I checked my storage shed, & my two Jonsered chainsaws are still there! LOL! You're doing the right thing. The best ending would be the original owner identifies the chainsaw & tells you it wasn't stolen. That may be further down the road when the chainsaw shows up on your RU-vid channel. What are the odds of someone who lost or sold a Jonsered identifying the one in your possession? Regardless, you're doing what you can to make things right.
Every saw dealer/mechanic that i know and deal with northern wisconsin will remove serial number tag as a means to let people/other mechanics know that this saw has been torn apart and worked on. Boedy your saw was stolen😂😂😂.
I'm not saying it's not stolen but how do you know 💯 that it's stolen? I've bought lots of Husqvarna and jonsered saws off marketplace that had not tags on them !!!
