Floor wanted to be part of Beste Zangers because Henk was cast to participate in this musical TV show. Floor has been a Henk Poort fan her whole life, yet he had not heard of Floor before this program. Since then, they have become besties, and collaborate together in duets when doing Solo concerts. Floor promised Henk to sing with her with Nightwish as a special guest to cover Phantom of the Opera, and perhaps even more. I can imagine Tuomas composing for Nightwish with Henk's voice in the works.. 🙂

He followed a classical singing education at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. He won the Cristina Deutekom Competition during his singing education. Poort sang at several European opera houses, such as in Ulm en Krefeld. He made guest appearances for, for example, the Dutch Opera, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Hessische Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, the National Reisopera, the VARA (Opera matinee in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw). Poort was a fellow jury member for the music program Una voce particolare. From September 2008 to the end of November 2008 he took part in a theater tour throughout the Netherlands with De 3 Baritones (Marco Bakker, Ernst Daniël Smid and himself). Poort made another theater tour throughout the Netherlands with De 3 Baritons from December 2009 to March 2010. In 2017 Poort was one of the participants of the eighteenth season of the RTL 5 program Expedition Robinson, he fell fourth and finished in 16th place. In 2019 Poort participated in Best Singers, where he took first place in the Dutch iTunes list with his version of “Sound of Silence”. His cover of "Phantom of the Opera", together with Floor Jansen, was also highly successful. Poort has regularly made guest appearances at Floor Jansen's shows since 2019, including at Pinkpop in 2022. Floor was the center of the evening and all other 5 artists sang a song with ties to Floor. Floor loves the Disturbed version, thats why Henk did it. They actually met the first time during this show but Floor has been a long time fan of Henk. You might check out Nemo version from the guy with the beard.
Henk Poort (you pronounced it nearly perfectly) is a carpenter / billiards maker, who became an opera singer (Baritone) and for Years sang all the great opera's with many great opera companies. Later on in life he made a carrier switch and became a musical singer, amongst which he was the Phantom of the Opera in the Dutch version of the POTO. It is said that said that Andrew Loyd Webber said Henk Poort was his favorite singer of the Phantom. Henk was also Floor's childhood hero (he was 65 I believe when this show aired), and she said yes to perform in this show when she knew that Henk would be participating. They have since become good friends, and became regular guest in each others shows. Beste Zangers (best singers..) is not a competition, but a format in which every week one singer in the group is the focus, and the others sing his or her songs for him or her, or song that are important to him or her...

It is from a show where singers pay tribute to eachother this one was to floor. Henk is an opra singer, distorsion is a big NO for them He dit this special for floor. It was an exceptional season everyone of them was good

It is Henk's version, based on Disturbed, with traces of Simon and Garfunkel in it, on a less metal orchestration. To convey his message about this song. And that is what this show is about, not to copy the 'original' but to make a new version. Some artists stay close to the original, others rebuild it and create completely new versions. The artists are seven performers in their own right, and there is a presenter. In each show, one of the artists is the 'subject' and the six others sing songs that are dear to the 'artist of this evening'. Because he/she wrote them, covered them, or have special memories about them. Floor's father liked the S&G version when she was young, but when she heard the Disturbed version, it gave the song a new meaning to her. That is why Henk sang it for Floor in his way. One of the artists is Rolf Sanchez, a salsa style singer, Floor Jansen sang his song 'Que se siente' for him in her metal version. Completely changed the style, but with full respect for his original. It blew everyone away! Henk is Floor's idol she saw him at roughly 10 years of age when he was the Phantom in Phantom of The Opera (original Dutch production, supposedly Andrew Loyd Weber said Henk was one of the bet Phantom's but I've not been able to find a direct quote). The show brings together a variety of singers. Each night one singer is featerured and the others all perform songs of that artists or songs that mean something to them. The season opened with Henk being featured. Floor starts the tributes to him with a song his mother sang a home often ... I won't spoil the surprise but will tell you she sings in perfect German (several native Germans have stated that her German in the song was perfect). Henk did Sound of Silence for her. I forget the explanation as to why. The link does have English subtitles that you have to turn on. If you want the build up to each song they artist explains why they chose a song. Only Tim Akerman actually did a song from Floor's catalog and it was something from before Nightwish. By the way Floor is currently on tour, but the German version of Beste Zangers ... Sing Meinen Song is airing weekly and Floor is appearing on this season. A song in German that she performed for a duo got them EXTREMELY emotional. Yep, their are a lot a lot of exellent singers in the Netherlands. For the whole show he asked Floor if she could teach him how to grawl, Well you heart the results.
The show takes 7 singers from different genres of music and put them together in a resort on Ibiza. In every episode one of them is placed central and all 6 others each sing a song that has a meaning for the central placed person. That can be something he/she did perform or something with a memory to it so it can become very emotional. Because the singers are all from different genres it is possible that they have to step out their own music style comfort zone or transform a song to their comfort zone. It is no competition but just a gathering to honor each other, sharing stories and bring up memories. The 8th and last episode of the season is the fun duet show. Henk Poort is an opera singer. This was the first time he sang with distortion because that's a no go in the opera scène. He just learned to sing with distortion a few hours before he had to go on stage...
Floor sang " Vilja Lied " , in German, for Henk. His mother used to sing that for his father. It is the first song of the first episode. Only Tim knew Floor, they did the same festivals 20 years ago. Floor with her band After Forever and Tim was the first singer of the band Di-rect.

But that song is unknown abroad and in Dutch... Henk sang " your man " for Ruben.

The last 3 months Henk was touring. Singing with a Big Band, it is called. He is singing from " the American Songbook ". Songs from 1950, 1960. I have been twice, so far. Epic !
