It’s crazy to me how people are SO trusting of toxic chemicals in nearly ALL of their products but are AFRAID to use plant based/natural products...

I think you should contact him for a collab about henna just to have a deeper conversation and maybe even a react

"We don't know what Henna is going to do to your hair long term." Hasn't Henna been used for literally thousands of years in India as a regular hair colouring and conditioning treatment? As in they use it regularly over the literal entirety of their teen and adult lives? Has no one thought to ask an Indian woman this? You'd think this was the latest concoction out of some unknown lab the way this guy is talking not an ancient hair care practice.

As someone who has dyed her hair with henna since I was 16 it is absolutely crazy how toxic and rude people are about henna. What’s the craziest part to me is I’ve been using it for so long and have yet to find any cons. I got told constantly that my hair is so pretty and heathy. It has thickened my hair and protected it too. I love my color and slight changes to it always fade out into the original color. I have also been able to bleach it and it took 11 tries for it to actually get it to light color it needed to be because my henna did what? PROTECTED MY HAIR. I was able to bleach my hair to an almost white color with nooooo damage. Henna is the best 🥰

when he talked about how there is no research into henna... what about the thousands of years of use, dating back 5000 years into old egypt? it may be news to white social media influencers but its safety is well known in all of middle east, india, pakistan and africa.

I went to cosmetology school and my instructors HATED henna and would slander it sooo badly! They loved my hair though because it was a pretty red color and very healthy. It was, of course, stained with henna. I was too embarrassed to tell them when they would compliment me, but now I look back and laugh.

Pssst. Everything is chemicals (I know what you meant, but still) (Edit: I’m a 100% pure henna user and have never dyed my hair with hairdressing chemical dyes, but let’s not kid ourselves that ‘chemicals’ is a bad word... Dihydrogen monoxide is something EVERYONE should be taking for example 🤪😅)

This was the video that was needed. His name will bring people here and hopefully will be more informed. I used Lushs henna it’s more of a henna gloss. The color isn’t strong and from my experience easily changeable. I’m glad he revisited henna and tried to learn. He still needs to understand a bit more and I hope he will see this video.

I started using Henna when I was 16, my bestie's mom had brought me back a whole bunch from Pakistan because her son had told her about me planning on dying my hair red. She didn't want me to ruin my fine hair with the harsh chemicals so she taught me the traditional way to use it. I always add lavender and tea tree oil too, for added moisture and it really compliments the smell of the henna. Like a feild of tall blooming flowers and grass. I've tried box dyes and having my hair professionally done but it NEVER gets the same results. I naturally have light auburn hair but prefer brighter red hair. I find it to take on a life of it's own, like the spirit of the henna plant knows exactly what shade of red your hair should be for you. I've reccomended it to a lot of friends who feel bored with their natural hair, just a light mask and it changes your look completely; leave it a little longer and it's like a whole other person. LOVE LOVE LOVE henna. P.s. I once dropped a little henna on my dog's head on accident while playing.... she still looks like she has a sauce stain 2 years later 😅 makes her cuter in my opinion, it just blends in with her other markings.

I am a natural redhead, inching towards 50 which is when my mom's hair started fading. My hair color is so much of my identity. I don't want to lose it. When he came out with a “box” of henna dye.....I’m like NO THAT’S NOT HENNA. My husband actually calls henna as “Earth Vomit.” But I love Henna Sooq, and I get all of my hair henna products from Khadija. ❤️❤️❤️

Love this reaction video. When Brad mentioned “keeping it forever” he was referring to the fact that you need to let it fade and grow out. Adding traditional western colour products over henna can have interesting, and sometimes scary, results.

My hair grows around 7-8 inches a year. The only time I've ever tried coloring it with box color... it only grew 4 inches that year. Yeah I'm not sure a lot of stylists know what a healthy scalp really is.

Every time I go to the hair salon the conversation is the same: "Wow, this is gorgeous colour, who did your hair?" "It's henna, I do it at home!" *Silent judgement from hair stylist*

I’m a henna girl from way back. 29 years now. One of the most amazing things about henna is the grow-out. For some reason, the roots are indistinguishable during grow out. My daughter, who’s hair is mid blond naturally, can have 6 inches of grow-out and for whatever reason, you can’t see a line. It’s super magical.

i am so sorry but i thought brad was extremely condescending and borderline disrespectful in this video, especially with the way he was knocking it down before even trying it properly, not to mention the constant comparisons to poop.... props to you for being so calm in educating us on henna dyes x

This is HILARIOUS! The stylist from raw curls organic used henna on her hair. (From the curly hair q & a) I think you will find her review interesting. She hadn’t used henna before and gave an interesting review. She tried it on her hair before using it on her client. (If I remember correctly)

I mix my henna with a natural silicone free conditioner, so it’s a very light tint on my hair. It gives such a wonderful warmth and glow.

Never dyed my hair with henna before, the hair thickening property really sold me.

Pro tip : Add natural lemon juice to the henna batter. I think it helps in darkening the colour and/or making it last longer. I am an Indian guy and my mom used to dye her hair with henna when I was a kid. Also, if you get a henna tattoo, spray/sprinkle lemon juice on top of the tattoo as its drying (before washing it off) to make it darker and make it last longer.

I’m not afraid of “chemicals”, I dye my hair copper with color dye (and also my roots, because it’s easier), but I do use henna to keep the color bright! To me is necessary to use color dye to get some tones lighter. If I used only henna I wouldn’t get the result I wanted because my natural color is too dark and I want a “natural-copper ginger” look if that makes sense lol

Last week I used your henna and indigo to color my grey hairs, and I loved it! I added aloe and amla powder, and it felt so nice and made my hair very soft and the color turned out beautifully! I’m starting to love the Ayurvedic treatments and have ordered some fenugreek and shikakai as well to try those out. Looking forward to it! I've been dyeing my hair with henna for over 8 years and I love it!!! I used to bleach and dye my hair blue, pink, purple, etc. But after switching to henna my hair is SO healthy and I really do love the color and get compliments on it all the time. And the shine when it gets in the sunlight? Unbeatable!! And now my hair is halfway down my butt crack (😜) and healthy! PS. I like to add coconut oil or olive oil for moisture. And also cinnamon for the smell. My hair smells like cinnamon for a few days! Also, I put it in and cover and actually sleep in it to get the full effect. Luckily with henna, you don't have to worry too much about it damaging your hair from leaving it in.

I haven't applied henna to my hair in over 30 years. I used dark ash blonde to tone down the brassy tones after highlights. I mixed with hot coffee. I usually applied about a week after my highlights It also made my fine coarse hair less tangled.

Henna is such a normal part of my beauty routine. I am mixed race german/turkish. I always joke about the fact that I got that german personality from my father and the passion & looks from my mother. I grew up with my mother treating my hair with henna every few months and now as a adult I do it myself. Like it was thousands of years ago in Byzantium.The women in our family carried this tradition into the modern times teaching their daughters how to care for their hair with henna. And let me tell you there are not wrong. Henna is the best thing you can do for hair.

How can he say that henna is scary & we don’t know what it’s doing to our hair when all the chemicals in our everyday household products & hair care is full of chemicals that we know nothing about & probably are harming us more than we think. That really bothered me

Love HennaSooq. I’m just going to say it, by Brad saying it looks like s**t is extremely ignorant and uneducated. This is a part of some cultures and it’s extremely insensitive to say that. I could say the same about his hair color. Disappointed in his comments.

I used pure powdered henna on and off my brown hair during the 80s and nineties to get this wonderful auburn gloss (and no harsh regrowth lines) and only really switched to box dyes permanently when my hair started having a lot of white, which henna looks awful on. It always made my hair beautiful, to the point hairdressers asked what I used, and commented on its great condition. It never reacted with any other dye I put on, because I only used pure henna. I find it sad that so-called hairdressers are so ignorant about a plant dye that has been used and tested for thousands of years before hair salons even existed. Plus, hairdressers routinely damage clients' hair with various chemicals and their own incompetence, I have no idea why they're so sanctimonious about henna.

Of course he'll prefer "classic" hair dye , that's all he knows! Rather than saying the cons outweigh the pros, it's more of like a ton of experience with regular hair dye versus zero experience with henna 😂😂 The only thing that's true is that removing the henna color is indeed difficult (not impossible bur definitely difficult)

i'm a professional hairdresser and i like henna a lot it works wonders if used correctly and for the right purpose, but it needs a lot of experience, every pro is on their own journey. it is ancient and i think it's beautiful. i think the lack of scientific research is not only a matter of thousands of years of human experience but also a matter of privilege

Love this Khadija !! Brad should have tried with Raj and Djamilla for example. Women in my family have been using henna for ever, they have the most gorgeous hair, healthy with beautiful copper/reddish highlight. I have virgin hair well only used henna as well and I wouldn't trade it. I love watching Brad Mondo video tho :) Imagine if he would dye his hair with henna 😱😱😱

Agreed…chemicals can build up in the body from the commercial hair dye and can be toxic over time. Especially how often one needs to dye when we’re trying to hide greys.

I'm turning 50 this year and I started using Henna when I was 16. My hairdresser is a fan of my hair colour and thinks it's great that I use Henna. I know start to get single white hair, but since Henna is covering them, it looks like I have natural highlights lol. I will have to check out your other videos :)

I remember when I was thinking about doing henna hair for the first time, my friend said it made a huge mess to wash out, but I had no worse of a mess than i would with all the other hair dye ive used

I love henna. I used it before I got sick with blood cancer but now after being diagnosed, I will stick with Henna for sure. I wish there were more people who are around who know how to use Henna. I wish there was a henna salon I could go to that specializes in this treatment.

Used in The Middle East and North East Africa for hair for much longer and the benefits are documented from those places too. Why are people saying we have to ask someone Indian? Indian henna is amazing but Indians don’t own the right to use it and people need to stop saying it’s appropriation. It’s used globally. The oldest documented usage is in Syria and Egypt. One of the best books on this history of henna is written by an Indian lady who vouches for this. I’m a henna artist =) enjoy henna everyone. It’s beautiful!

I think he made the mixture (besides being too thick) and put it straight on the hair, instead and letting it seat for a couple hours. preferably covered so that the color would start coming out, THEN apply it to the hair. that's what I've been doing and I only have to do my roots and dye the whole hair once a year. I use, of course, 100% pure henna and water only, so it's different, I guess

I love brad, but this video he made me feel frustrated/anoyyed while watching it. like it almost felt like miss information which is unfortunate because he has a big platform, if he would have done more research before slapping out that video he would have seen to leave the henna in much longer for a proper vibrant result instead of the lame result he got.. Also his wording was poor and it felt the bias while watching, like saying it "suffocates the hair" and stuff.. It felt negative? I get it tho, he's a hair stylist with his own brand that he obvs stands behind it/pramote it and doesn't use of offer henna treatments himself...But dam, I would have really liked a more educated and cool facts video about it while Working on miss mani because henna has a long history and is rly cool you can dye your hair with plants and it's cool that it gives you a unique shade for every person, it feels special :3 From my own experience I feel Henna is a option for people to use that have sensitive scalp or are now sensitive/allergic to chemicals in regular hair dye.. I hope he makes a new video about it in the future that's more educated and positive feeling, and maybe even colab with a profecinal henna stylist that has been working with it for years and has a cool tip or 2 about it and can awnser more questions people have about it. Anyways I hope it didn't deture the people who are still I search of hair dye alternatives for their sensitive scalps, or just love the unique colour it gives, that's just my opinion/thoughts about the video, I still love brad, still watch him, but dang not my most fav video of his..

After about 3-4 years of dying my hair with any bleach and store bought dye I could find, since I went to a hairdresser once and she charged me over $100 for doing whatever she felt like instead of what I asked, I found henna. I love the red it gives me, I've used it once and need to redo it soon... but it's beautiful, my hair feels healthy, and I may be a minority in it but I absolutely LOVE the horse barn/timothy hay smell of it. 10/10.

The only time I ever had a Henna treatment was in a salon. When they applied it the henna was boiling hot and I was told that way it will be taken into the hair shaft better. My hair looked fantastic.

I’ve been a Henna Sooq user for a while now (just received my latest Jamila order today in fact!!) and I absolutely love Khadija’s approach to Brad’s video. When I first saw Brad’s vid, I was frustrated with the lack of research he did and the sorta dismissive attitude he took to the whole process. But her patience in explaining step by step the right information, and the lighthearted way she responded to his comments was so sweet! I definitely love using henna, and Henna Sooq is my favorite source for sure! 😊

It definitely goes into your bloodstream. My pee is always green the next morning 🙊. Especially if I leave it on overnight. But nothing to worry about. I've been using it for over a decade, and have never had an adverse effect. It's just kind of startling if you weren't expecting that. I have a PPD allergy, and a lot of sensitivities to ingredients in oxidative hair dye. I haven't missed it though since I discovered henna. There have been plenty of studies on the allergens and carcinogens in oxidative hair dye.

He really misinformed people with his video. He used a box that has metallic dye in it and isn’t pure henna. He also did a lot wrong. You can color over real henna not the fake stuff. He didn’t even leave it on half of the time you need to.

He... Doesn't know the original history of dye, does he? Plants are famously the original dyes before chemical dyes were even made.

I have naturally dark hair, so had a bleach adventure a while back so I could try out light pastel colours. It was fun, but absolutely DESTROYED the quality of my hair. Going on a henna dye regimen really helped to restore my hair back to health! :)

Man I used to watch his videos when he was smaller, but after he melted that poor girls hair off and did the "box dye vs professional dye" I just haven't been able to watch him. As far as I still know he hasn't apologized or said anything about those instances since. I'm wondering now how much research into this henna brand he's using in this video, because with just a little research you find time and time again that you can't just use any henna brand. Not all henna is created equal. I'm definitely going to have to watch more of your videos, you have such a nice personality and will to share your knowledge.

I was using chemical colors for years. I recently tried Hennasooq's henna + indigo and I'm never going back to chemical colors. And my hair has shine it's never had before AND I was able to get the color I wanted. I switched to henna mostly as a result of the pandemic, but not only that, it just so happened that shortly before the pandemic hit, traditional chemical hair dye was linked to cancer. Consider me a convert for life.

From a western stylist who loves to use unnatural colors and does multidimensional jobs, I can understand why he would be (a) unfamiliar with henna, (b) bored with the results (although, personally, my henna’s hair has so much dimension), and (c) afraid of a product that is colorfast when you don’t necessarily know what the result will be (part of that is inexperience and unfamiliarity with the product). I would never expect a stylist to be super excited about henna. Plus a male stylist who is younger and western and has limited exposure to henna as a product, his reaction is pretty predictable. It's disappointing that he didn't do enough research.

I became severely allergic to chemical hair dye at the same time that my hair became really grey. Now, I'm not against pretty grey hair, but not the dull pepper that outweighs the salt in my hair! So, I turned to henna. If I'd tried this years ago, I never would have used harmful chemicals! My hairdresser is always amazed at how beautiful my hair is - its condition and shine. I just wish that I had a hairdresser that I could go to when I need to dye my hair - I always get into a mess 😆 At least the henna and indigo mix I use washes off the sink and floor better than chemical dye, as well as not staining my skin 🙂

I noticed that Brad seems to have taken his henna video down. Thank you for this one and your reactions and input. I thought he achieved an absolutely beautiful color on that mannequin’s natural hair. As a boring dishwater blonde, Henna is now on my to-do list!

Loved your input on this. I use 70% Moroccan henna, 30% cassia, and two tablespoons of amla, mixed with chamomile tea and a splash of vinegar. I get the prettiest deep copper over my dark blonde hair every time 🥰 Henna Sooq really is the best.

As a Pakistani person,to me this Henna (we call it Mehndi) looks very suspicious. He should have gone into an Indian or Arabic store to buy it. Stuff on the internet is not very authentic.

Henna is a miracle product!I have thick straight hair .My natural colour is light golden brown with honey blonde highlights. i used hanna bc i've gotten bored of it.Henna made my hair reflecting, blinding shining,it gave them even more body,and the colour!!The colour was a divine copper redish that seemed so natural because the tint was not opaque!I was told to mix my henna powder with chamomile tea for a lighter hue and leamon for a deeper one!Some old lady told me that they use the peels of onions for darker ,richer red tones but never tried that one!I wish more pple in my country (Greece) knew about henna!!

2 Queens, a marble queen pothos and you. I love henna. I am in germany and my hairdresser does my highlights over my henna, and gives me tips how to apply it and when, so I am lucky that they are so neutral or positives about natural dyes.

I am so happy you made this video. He only left it on for an hour. When I use henna I leave it on for at least 3 hours. It's covered in cling film and a towel for 2 hours, then air dry for the last hour. The softness and shine is second to none, and once you start using it regularly, the colour gets deeper.

I still feel after watching him he despise henna :D but also his knowledge is quite poor, I did better research at the beginning than him

So normally when I go to my island…there’s a henna tree so we will take that and make fresh henna and apply it in our toes,hands and very rarely on our hair.

I like watching Brad’s videos, but I felt like he wasn’t being fair to henna. I have very long dark hair. It gets a bit lighter and slightly reddish towards the ends. In the past, I’ve had my hair chemically dyed by a professional, used a Lush henna bar, and used pure henna powder. Based on the cost, my lifestyle, and the effects, I liked the henna powder best. It left me with a nice long lasting color, was pretty easy to apply and work with, didn’t cost much money, and was safe. It also didn’t damage my hair. Though I will admit, the henna bar from Lush was very moisturizing. I definitely looked up the moisturizing ingredients afterwards.
