Henrietta of England, wife of Philippe D'Orleans (June 16, 1644, Exeter, England - June 30, 1670, Château de Saint-Cloud, France), also called Henriette-Anne Stuart, in English Henrietta Anne Stuart of England, was the daughter of King Charles I of England and Scotland and Queen Henrietta Marie of France. She is also the granddaughter of Henri IV, the niece of Louis XIII, the first cousin and the sister-in-law of Louis XIV, by her marriage to her cousin Philippe d'Orleans (brother of Louis XIV).

Another good video. I always feel great sympathy for Henriette, who was such a beautiful, charming and intelligent woman, married to a man who flaunted his male lover. She was also close to her brother Charles II; it is said that Henriette was one of the few people that the cynical Charles genuinely loved, he truly mourned her.

She really did draw the short end of the stick when it came to her husband... I cannot imagine having to go against the quite immoral Chevalier all the time, must've been a nightmare. Thank you very much for watching.

Excellent 👏🏻! Not surprising that Henriette possibly had a gastric ulcer, her life was very stressful. Having to flee her native country along with the execution of her father must have been a very traumatic childhood.

Apparently some historians say that she didn't ate well, just liquids, when she visited her brother in England he was in shock when he saw her all skinny, covered in make up with a tired face, also, her children's are a miracle, she was so close genetically to Phillipe but her daughter Anne Marie had a lot of descendents Im half into thinking she was poisoned and half that it was just her bad health Thank you for this video

Bonjour, Thank you. How terribly sad that lovely, intelligent and kind Henriette had quite such a horrible marriage to Monsieur. I hadn't realised he was quite so belittling, nasty and jealous of Henriette. Poor young lady to be married to him and at such a young age. Thank goodness she had a warm friendship with Louis and was loved and admired at the French Court. Apart from the gossipy, treacherous stirrers of malice. Tragic she died so young without her brother comfort her. Xxxx

I'm not sure if Philippe was belittling on his own, or if it merely was a reaction to the gameplay of the Chevalier De Lorraine... who clearly suffered from NPD if you ask me...

There was a rumour back then that Henriette's first daughter Marie-Louise was Louis XIV's daughter due to their closeness but when the girl grew up, she looked so much like Philippe that all doubts vanished. And apparently, as she wasn't a boy, Henrietta was so distraught about it that she wanted to throw her into a river, much to Philippe and Anne's horror. Also, when she was a child, her mom and her were so poor they couldn't even afford gloves and it was an aunt who lent some to her niece. Henriette had such a hard life, I feel bad for her.

I'm, currently, almost finished with Dumas' "Louise de la Valliere". I like Madame, however, I wasn't pleased with how she treated la Valliere. Henriette was one of Louis Quatorze's mistresses. Sure, Philippe was gay, and flaunted le Chevalier de Lorraine. That must have been hard on her. However, I don't feel it gave her a right to treat Louise so badly. Louise was sweet, kind, loving and modest. I feel she brought out the best aspects of the Sun King.
