In my ideal world: Henry is the the Captain General Constantine Valdor. BUT, since that role only comes in WAAAAYYYYYY down the line in terms of story; in the meantime he’ll be the voice/face reference actor for the series favorite CG ogryn. Gaunt’s Ghosts style.

I agree. Valdor is by far one of the most interesting characters in 40k right now. If Cavill wants a character with some impact, it would be the perfect choice. Him voicing other characters is also a good idea, he’d be able to play around with a bunch of roles then, which I am sure he and us would love.

I’m grateful for the Seal of Inquisitorial approval👍 I think that Henry could be the “Andy Serkis” behind a CGI character or two before we learn enough about the world to introduce a character like Valdor. I think it would let him stretch his acting chops, and it also be in tune with the Warhammer 40k universe where “mini versions” abound; and even the simplest of men can have the spirit of the Emperor.

@@ghironsingh That’s true, Valdor is a massive character to start off with straight away. And the idea of Henry Cavill doing the motion capture work while they wait to use Valdor would be very cool. He’d be able to focus on the production side of things more until things are ready to show these insane characters and stakes. Simple Imperial Guard stories would be a great start before they blow everyone’s minds with stuff that is literally planet ending with a push of a button or a slightly too strong sneeze from a powerful Psyker 😂

I think they gotta start with 40k era stories. if they play it right and its a hit, maybe we could see 30k heresy era explored. I would cut it in a way that the 40k setting would have flashbacks to tantalize people, but never go too deep into it.

Agreed. Horus Heresy is great for some background lore that they can add to elements of the 40k show, and eventually, when the hype is big enough, and both old and new audiances alike are ready for a 100 movie long Saga, we'll get the Horus Heresy XD Though in all seriousness. I reckon given the time and dedication, and a willingness to let the story play out over many many years of filming production, we could see the full HH on screens.

@@InquisitorJoshua they really could. The potential is there, certainly. They start with Horus rising series and wrap with flight of the einsenstein and from there can go into various legion books. I don't think every book would be made, that would be fucking nuts, but I'd hope each legion would get some screen time. Big moments like Ferrus Manus and Fulgrim, the war in the web way, stuff like that. Master of mankind could be it's own film, or alternatively it would be cool if all the content of master of mankind was spread out across various films and shows. It would capture a degree of the mystery and discontinuity that 40k lore can feel like at times.

@@weaselhack That is the benefit of hindsight and screenwriting, they can cherry pick the pivotal moments in the story, while also removing the fluff that slows things down. Thought I have always been a fan of the fluff, as if done well, it can really add to the world building, and when it comes to 40K world building is a massive part. They do however have access to some of the best writers out there, and with such a passionate fanbase, I imagine they are handling this with great care.

I'm hoping we don't see the words "Henry Cavill confirms that he is no longer involved in the Amazon/Warhammer project due to creative differences." Then we'll know it has been hijacked. Having said that, I really hope they do the Horus Heresy. I'd like to see 3 seasons covering it: Season 1: Dark age/Age of Strife, bit of backstory on humanity's rise and fall, the Emperor. Then culminates in the Unification War on Terra and the creation of the Astartes. Season 2: The Great Crusade. Also a chance to introduce some of the other 40k factions, such as Orks and Eldar. Season 3: The Horus Heresy, ending with the Emperor's interment on the Golden Throne. Would be a massive undertaking but I think it's well worth the effort as they can then have spin off shows that rival the MCU in scale.

I would honestly die a little inside if Henry Cavill left the show. Would still watch it, just in the same way I watched the Halo TV show, with horrified morbid curiosity 😅 If they go full Horus Heresy, I'd like them to get as many seasons as they need. Hell, I would wait 50 years for them to finish it on the screen and do the depth of the story justice.

Unfortunately I don't have time to play, but when I can, I am painting a bunch of 2nd Edition Ultramarines with classic colour schemes, as well as painting my Leviathan set as Blood Ravens, DoW being one of my favourite games series of all time, and also some Grey Knights. Way more painting than I can handle XD

I don't think the shows will be space marine heavy, I think we'll see the odd one or battle with them taking part but a movie I think a movie will be different.

I’d like to hope this is the direction they take. Keep things simple at the start, sprinkle in elements of the extreme 40k vibe, and then a big introduction of the true scale of 40k in some kind of Movie or long season finale episode.
