This is a late comment, but i have to say what a wonderful thing to be so comfortable w/your musical abilities that you can effortlessly conduct your own orchestra while also playing the main solo on the piano! I only wish i had that level of talent!
While I resided in Las Vegas from l992-l994, In addition to my job, I also continued my research on information on the famous and infamous for a book publication, which I published in l996. I wrote to Mr. Henry Mancini and he personally replied back, with the information I sought in my letter to him and he also sighed it. This is one of proudest mementos, from the many famous personalities, whom I have received over the years during this endeavor. And his music, MY FAVORITE!
You walked away and for a while, you found the summer of a younger smile........ lovely but painful words these are. Thank you Mr. Mancini for your music.
I can never get enough of Henry Mancini. From the first time I heard him I fell in love with his music and this sweet Gentleman. He was incredible and a genius, reminded me so much of another gentle genius. Thank you so much for this. Anna.
My admiration for this man and his music began with the album “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. As a 6 year old, I didn’t have a real sense of music, but I found the songs on the album somehow appealing. And that appeal remained, even to this day. I grew up on Mancini and his music. You could say I was part of The Mancini Generation.
It's rare that I would say it, especially about an exceptional composer like Mancini, but Dudley Moore's version is the definitive one for me. A thousand times more impact than the original.
I was lucky to meet Henry Mancini in the summer of 1993 at University of Nebraska in Lincoln. It was one of his last concerts and I was just a freshman.
Essa apresentação de Henry Mancini tocando It's Easy To Say é algo insuperável!
As Burt Bacharach would say " wow there are a few versions ala Close to You, I Say A Little Prayer that exceed my imagination. Dudley's solo is one.Peace.
Back in the day my parents use to throw the best pool parties In Southern California and Mancini was one of those artist he use to play on those reel tapes. God, I miss those days.
I know that Mr. Mancini was a great composer and that he wrote It's Easy To Say. But I'm sorry: Dudley Moore owned this song the moment he played it in the movie. RIP, Mr. Mancini, Mr. Moore. We miss you. There is no one to take your places.
