John 15:12-25 NASB “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another. “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they followed My word, they will follow yours also. But all these things they will do to you on account of My name, because they do not know the One who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. The one who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well. But this has happened so that the word that is written in their Law will be fulfilled: ‘They hated Me for no reason.’
I've always been obsessed with this movie as a kid I watched it so much my VHS broke It's because of that line specifically why anytime I've ever referred to her I always say Megara and people will be like who I'm like you know the girl from Hercules and they're like you mean Meg and I'm like no it's Megara
So meg sold her soul previously to save her ex’s life and ultimately got betrayed, and then Hercules basically offered up his soul in the end to to save her life. I just now realized the connection
@user-mu1fe7ll5u what are you talking about crAzy? Everyone takes what they deserve. Maybe not from the person that stabed behind their back but from somewhere else. Chill a little please. You haven't understand life yet I see. Grow up.
I always thought he was looking at his legs and didn't know what kind of creature he was because it was his first time so he was confused on how to address him, lol but gender is on way to look at it
The emotional damage I felt when realizing Meg was sad at the end because she thought for a moment she had been abandoned again by her lover… only for Hercules to surrender his soul to be with her. Its genius storytelling
He didn't surrender his soul, he surrendered his godhood for her. That's like the equivalent of giving up Elon Musk money to be with the woman you love.
@@paulsumabong9275oh true my b. Although ig he kinda did also give up his soul in the prior scene where he dove into the well in the underworld to grab her soul before he achieved godhood, but yeah you’re right about the following scene tho
@@sandrinedefaux3290why can't they just remake the imperfect ones like what they did with Jungle Book or do many different things like Aladdin? Like why even remake Lion King when the only changes made everyone have awful expressions instead?
@@20fadhilRevolutionbecause nostolgia makes easy money. instead of taking risks on new, potentially groundbreaking ideas, you can just copy what people were watching 40 years ago and make billions.
Then the hero has to heroically swim through souls to get the soul of the hero who saved the hero back into her body while heroically bashing in Hades face.
@@migzy4704 well, regardless of the art form, be it a Saturday morning cartoon, or a Renaissance painting by Raphael ( No.. NOT the turtle) the human form is always exaggerated to enhance or highlight the beauty standards of the day.
@@Voodoomaria Bruh. I'm not dumb. I know who Raphael the painter is.😂😂😂 Yeah I see what you're saying. I just say it's an art form in a cartoon. I don't take it too seriously. I mean look at Hercules. Most Men can't achieve that body type.
@@migzy4704 that was a joke. And you do have a point. One of my grievances with Herculese was the inconsistency in style. They were emulating Kimball, but the satyr, Phil, his character design was jarringly out of place.
it was a great movie, but in the actual mythos Zeus is the most evil and fucked up of the gods. Hades is actually one of the best ones. Real role-reversal.
Movie talked Zeus up a lot but he’s pretty much on even terms with hades and Poseidon. he did not defeat he titans alone hades and Poseidon helped a lot. All 3 of them have done some fucked up shit but zeus went farther than both of them combined on his bs.
@@spencerbowden2979 other than tricking Persephone, and even that is skewed, I don't recall Hades doing anything bad. He was exceptionally kind, loyal, and protective of his wife which is basically the opposite of how zeus treats hera. Also I don't recall Poseidon doing anything that bad.
@@MauiWowieOwie Poseidon cheated on his wife on multiple occasions like zeus did and got multiple mortals cursed such as Medusa. Though he did not cast the curses he in no way tried to help the victims of his infidelity.
@@spencerbowden2979 fair enough, and yeah that pales in comparison to Zeus though. also Athena cursed Medusa, not Poseidon. The only story I know of where Poseidon actually cursed someone was the king of minos, which in the time they were living with knowing how the gods they were, trying to deceive the god was kinda on him. The only shitty part was making his wife involved. But you didn't mention Hades, which makes me assume that other than the Persephone thing, which ultimately worked out, he hasn't done anything wrong. Even if he had other problems Zeus is still the most evil god of all.
@@fukurousama5910 I understand the reference your making but I hadn't watched that episode until I was older I just figured it was Mgatron because it sounded old I don't know how that made sense in my child brain
Okay so I’m Greek on my mom’s side and kids at school made fun of me a lot for some of our customs that they didn’t understand (her maiden name was weird to them, we called my grandfather “Papou” which sounded to them like “poopoo,” I told them I got two Easter’s because of Greek Easter and they thought I made it up). So when Hercules came out I was so excited because I was gonna get a Greek princess! When I first watched I was so disappointed Meg wasn’t nice and kind like the other princesses that came before her. But as the movie unfolded, and I saw how much she sacrificed for Hercules, I was thrilled and pumped that the Greek Disney Princess was so cool! I eagerly awaited for Megara costumes, dolls and merch to come and for Meg to be the next princess so I could show off how cool being Greek was to the kids at school. But it never came. I’m still waiting for her official princess title to come because She is so cool, brave, and honorable - she deserves it!
Fairy tales need more damsels like Meg. A good rule of thumb is if you go to rescue a damsel and her guards aren't covered in scratches and bite marks and looking real twitchy it means she likes it there and should be left alone.
One of the few films they both had to grow and develop. Herc had to learn about being a hero, Meg had to put her past behind her and learn to trust again.
I think what helps with them is Hercules and Meg's relationship becomes a central focus late in the film, but originally, getting with each other is not either of their goals. Hercules wanted to become a true hero and find a place to belong. Meg wanted her freedom back and to be left alone. Their romance ties into the development of both of their characters.
Megara was ahead of her time. She was the first nuanced disney "princess" (yes, she isn't actually a princess in the movie, but mythological was a princess). Up until then you had Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Arial, Belle, Jamine and then Pocahontas. Just Jasmine and Pocahontas were more independent, but Megara was far deeper character. She was sassy, damaged and self-centred, something we hadnt see in the good-two-shoes princesses up until now. If they make a Live-Action Heracle, they better include Megara and she better been written well..... Unlikely, considering how bad the Live Actions have been
Esmerelda came before Megara, and I'd say she counts as well. With that said, I agree with your point. Megara is a pretty unique character for a Disney heroine. Unlike most other Disney female leads, Meg is introduced as snarky, sassy, bitter, selfish, jaded, and cynical. A lot of Disney heroines often have dealt with hardships, but they usually remain upbeat, or optimistic, or hopeful, even if it may be a defense mechanism to endure. Meg is different in that after going through her problems, she isn't cheerful, or full of energy, or sanguine. She's very much an emotionally broken individual who is both world-weary, and apprehensive to the idea of pursuing love again. Another aspect that makes Meg stand out is the fact that she's more "experienced" than many other Disney heroines. As in, most Disney heroines experience love for the first time with whoever their love interest in their film is. Meg differs because Hercules is her second love, meaning she already knows the joys of love and romance, but also has endured the sorrows of heartbreak and betrayal. And of course, another way in which separates Meg from most other Disney female leads is that she is introduced as a villain. A sympathetic and tragic figure of a villain, but a villain nonetheless. Hence why her character arc is a redemption arc.
@@Embrinna it’s alright. My soul has hit a low passing ever since I turned 16 because internet made me who I am now. An empty male with no bi- uh i mean. With no grilfriends. And before you females start bickering. I am somewhere I’ll never be able to be reached. Reality is often disappointing. Thanos said. And now I see that through my own eyes. Life is a sea and I’m a fisherman
I just realized but why is it that no one ever talks about the part where Hercules is trying to figure out what to call the thing in front of him so as to not offend him and he literally said "Pardon me my good uh..." looked down went ah it's a man looked back up and went "sir!" Like he really looked at this guy's schlong to tell if it was a man or not like that still could have been a woman. Sad part is this is relatable 😂
I didn't get that until I read the comments just now... x'D I thought it was just that it was his first time seeing a centaur, that he didn't know centaurs even existed and therefore simply didn't know what this horse-man thing was and so settled for "sir".
I'm one of the odd ones, I read classical literature for entertainment. I That's why I was glad Disney got Hercules's wife's name right. Bothered me they used the Roman version of his name though, But well, it's the one most people are familiar with. I had a teacher get annoyed with me because i kept using the classical Greek name and spelling in my school work.
"Are you alright miss?" Hercule be like: with manners asking "Megara, my friends call me Meg. At least they would if I had any friends" Megara be like: Just say it normally

Name one reason Meg should be considered a Disney Princess: Other than the fact Mulan is not royalty, Megaera got with the son of the King of the gods. And redeemed herself through her actions at the cost of her life, but then saved by Hercules from Hades twice.
