@@knightawz he's referring to actual Greek mythology where Hades is like the only decent god Honestly criminal the why he gets treated for simply being King of the under world
In true Greek mythology Hades kidnaps Persephone and does cheat on her like, twice. But on the other hand, Zeus is constantly cheating and *@ping women. So, ya, decent(?) by comparison.
@@kaym.5058 One of the biggest points of the greek mythology is that even the gods are not perfect. They lie, deceive, cheat, destroy and are envy just like humans. They have desires and urges just like humans. Also, there are no "good" and "evil" gods. Its all a spectrum - again, just like humans and nature itself. If there are any gods its far more likely that they are like this and not like the perfect "god" of the monotheistic religions. Its simply far more plausible that an imperfect world with an imperfect dominating species is also made by imperfect gods. But ofc, no one can know for sure. The point is: Disney's version of Hercules is (obviously) heavily westernized and christianized, with Hades behaving more like the christian depiction of Satan. But i doubt religious accuracy was really even a real consideration for this movie, especially since its even using the latin version as title (Hercules) instead of the original greek one (Herakles).
@@LegioXXI Makes sense. Personally, I don't find the Christian God perfect. It's a personal point of view so I won't really get into it and in no way am I trying to disrespect those who are Christian.
I knew from the first line that this video was about to be pure gold. "The movie begins with lizzo preparing to fire her dancers." That's it. It's over. This is the greatest recording of the 21st century.
I am not sure about that but I could be misremembering it. However, I know that he definitely slept with one of his great times something granddaughter to make Dionysus.
I hate how movies or cartoons always paint Zeus as the good guy and hades as the bad guy when Zues is the one who was r**p women and hades was loyal to one women only
Well... That's true. But I try not to take it too seriously either. You cannot expect it to be true to Greek Mythology. Plus if I am not wrong Hades captured Persephone to make her his wife. Anyways, I understand where you are coming from. They could have exposed this bad side of Zeus as him cheating on his wife with another woman. And perhaps they could have also made some sort of corruption scandal on the Olympus revolving Zeus. Then Hades could have used that as an excuse for him to reign over the Olympus(without enslaving the other gods). Then at least it wouldn't be such a one sided good versus evil story. Sorry for overanalyzing it. :)
@@benjaminmatute9085technically it was Charon who gave persephone the fruit that locked her in the underworld for 2 seasons…. And he was told to do so by none other than… wait for it… Zeus!
As a kid I loved Meg just cuz she wasn’t like any other Disney Princess or woman I’d seen she wasn’t necessarily soft spoken and she was cool. I watched the movie again when I was around 15 and noticed I liked her cuz she switched from bad to good. She started off evil unwillingly then she did some evil things then felt bad and finally redeemed herself by giving her life up.. she was pretty manipulative but that’s what makes her human and I’m glad they all got happy endings
6:21 to be fair to Meg here. She's an enslaved soul, free will and walking around all corporeal like is a privilege bound to her good behavior. That's bound to lead to some complicated feelings about anyone's actions
Bro Hercules was built like a fucking muscular giraffe did u see that neck? and they didnt get the statues right! I WANTED TO SEE BIG STATUES OF HERCULES WITH HIS SCHLONG OUT
True story of HERACLES( not Hercules Hercules is his Roman name) :Heracles is actually a descendant of Zeus's many many many many affairs and is not Hera's child. Hades is actually a pretty decent god and Hera is the actual villain in Heracles's story Heracles wasn't actually born a god he was born a mortal demigod Hera threw him out of Mount Olympus and some random couple found him and adopted him but Heracles always knew he was Zeus's son. The snakes that attacked Heracles weren't shape shifting minions of Hades they were actually real snakes that were sent by Hera to kill Heracles. Also Heracles didn't actually only threw them he straight up SNAPPED BOTH OF THE SNAKES NECKS also there isn't only one sign of the gods every god has they're own sign. Also Heracles wasn't hated in his community he was actually a pretty helpful guy in his community and they all considered him a hero by taking down creatures in his town although he did accidentally killed his music teacher once. When he grew up yes he did meet Megara and married her and had alot of kids with her but then Hera drove him insane and Heracles killed his whole entire family. By realizing he murdered his whole entire family he went to his other half brother and had to make 10 labours but then changed to 12 due to help by people. And one of hus labours was taming Cerberus Hades 3 headed dog he tamed Cerberus after getting permission from Hades also yes he did went into Hades's river of death or whatever (┐( ̄ー ̄)┌) but it wasn't for his girl it was for his friend's girl and when he told the love story of his friend and his friend's girl Hades just gave the girls soul to Heracles and he completed his labours married the goddes of youth named Hebe and became a god that's the true story of Heracles if you didn't know.
He was not thrown off by Hera or adopted, his mortal mother and her husband raised him and his half brother/twin. When Heracles was a baby Artemis brought him to Hera so she could feed him, when he heard the name Hera he bit down hard splashing the milk across the sky, forming the milky way. There are a lot more details of his story as it is very long
There are variations, but pretty much. One such variation is he found his wife cheating on him so went into a blind rage. Some say he had two different wives at different times. But, yeah..... Zeus was a serial philanderer, taking on the forms of animals or even a married woman's husband just because they turned his head and he wanted some. Hera never left his sorry womanizing butt, rather taking it out on his illegitimate spawn. Hades, for his part, was mostly a rather chill guy. Won the underworld when the three brothers (Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon) for who had what. He had a seat on Olympus, but he made others kinda uneasy and he wasn't a particularly social sort (as I understand it anyway) so it all worked out rather well.
Instantly clicked. Instantly regretted not having the time to rewatch it. Instantly reminded why you're genuinely an underrated all rounder GEM of a channel
7:36 he helps because he dares for hercules dud what's with not getting the emotional subtext about caring for others in this movie. It is so obvious and important.
Fun fact (I think), if the movie was more accurate, when hercules was swimming in the soul pool, the reason he turned into a God was because he died. Apparently when a demi-god dies, they turn into a full fleshed god
I know a couple that basically knew they were endgame after date 1. They just got to talking and really connected well. Now, 5 years later they are getting married 😁. You just never know how something is gonna go until it happens.
Interesting to see the use of victim blaming against victims of transandrophobia and misogyny. I wonder what the people doing it are trying to obsfuscate by this type of defusion? 🧐 Could it be their own responsability? Or being held accountable? It's easy to defuse, it's braver to look at oneself in the mirror and take steps to change.
This is my fav disney movie, seen it like 47 times, and performed a musical version. I ALSO did greek mythology in school, so every time I watch it I both rage at and enjoy the film-
Omg yeah like I’ve never watched it but with all I’ve heard about it, it seems cool but I could never watch it. Like hera’s the actual villain because Zeus cheated on her, the ENTIRE reason for Heracle’s story is BECAUSE Hera isn’t his mom. There’s so much that isn’t true about the movie, like Hades? Sure he lives in the land of the dead, but he’s arguably one of the best and most fair gods because of how well and justly he rules Hades. Anyways, enough ranting, your point is so true tho lol
I’ve never watched this before, and coming in I was like “hows the Asian thing relevant” and when I heard the first sentence I spat out my water 😂😂😂 this is amazing
'Damn! I didn't know she was over two meters. GOD DAMN!' That part got me 😂 and now I can't unsee it! Looking forward to pausing that scene every time I watch the movie now!
