I feel what he felt while driving my c4. I’m 29 with a wife but I can experience the carefree feeling while driving mine. It is just you the car and road and nothing else matters for a few minutes. It’s really like a high of it’s own and it’s addicting lol. I love seeing Tennessee mountains in the background over an open field as i cruise on by.

I have a Corvette and my hometown just has 1k people. It works great when the whole two cops are at the car show and you go to the school parking lot and rip some donuts.

I was seriously looking at C4 corvettes. They are definitely a great entry enthusiast car now. You can find nice ones for reasonable prices. They made so many of them there are plenty to choose from.

About a month ago,I found one of these,and wanted one fkr the exact reason you stated. Rear wheel drive,stick,fast,and cheap. This would be my first car. Sadly my parents said no because its too fast. When I’m a little older ill get one,hopefully they don’t get too expensive.

Small towns are like that. My cousin smashed his truck into a main power line pole and knocked out power for a good portion of the county one night at 2 in the morning. I ran into him the next day (technically later that same day) at about noon at the local diner and sat down to eat with him and his mom. While we were there 5 people came up and talked to him about it and made sure he was alright and cracked jokes and what not. (He was fine)

Don't feel bad about the targa top launch... really! After 20yrs at our Corvette shop up here in the NW, I've discovered a trend from about May through October. In that time frame, we sell an average of about ten C4 tops a month. Of those 10 about half are for customers who admit to not bolting em down, 2 or 3 are for customers who didn't bolt em down and won't admit it, and the remainder are elective replacement. The truly amazing part, is that I've never had anyone tell me that their ejected top hit another car.

It was great seeing you wearing the Chaparral hat and Laguna Seca tee shirt. I was there in '68 to see Jim Hall race his Chaparral. I don't remember if he won or not but it was a great weekend. I was 18 at the time.

These young guys reminiscing like they are in their 70's on VINwiki just cracks me up. So fun!

That C4 corvette roof flying off story is actually very common, it happened to my older brother 5-6 years ago I’m actually going to paint his car this week, I fixed the cracks on the roof and did a lot of minor bodywork here and there, good car

C4 vettes are greatly under rated

I caught air in my C-4 & put my head through see-through Targa top, cost me $1800 for a new one.

I love listening to casey’s story’s because I am also from a small town in Ohio just a couple hours away from his.

I had an '88 Camaro Z28 droptop in highschool with 295 wide semi slick tires in the back as my only car haha. There were days where I couldn't make it over the freeway overpass in the snow to get to school and would just turn around and go home. So many good memories....til I crash it.

My father had a 1993 Indy 500 Camaro. Glass T-tops. He didn't clamp the handle hard enough. Driving about 80 down the road, T-top launched about 60 feet in the air, his words. The T-top weighed about 35lbs. Luckily no injuries. This occurred in Ohio as well. Another time he is driving, on the highway, at highway speeds. Guy three cars ahead hit a deer. They all brake, dad looks up with the T-tops off. Deer flew through the air and was about to land on him. He guns it, without that horsepower the deer would have landed on his lap.

Love the Porsche 944. My 84 is up for sale right now on Chicago craigslist since I'm getting married. It has a lot of preventative maintenance performed, sport seats and the LSD.

I know what you mean about keeping nice things. Everytime I get something fixed someone drives into it while it's parked.

You know you had a good bachelor life when you had a triple black 6-speed Corvette. Mine was a 2000. Good times!

Had an 84 C4. Loved the car. Had stopped for red light and SUV plowed into the back of the car. Driver was on their cell phone and had not noticed the light was red. Everyone was ok and car was repaired.

I bought a 1984 Corvette at an auction about 5 years ago. I bought it to fix up and flip but it was probably the scariest drive home I have ever had. Right after I paid and was ready to leave the auction it starting pouring down rain and that's when I realized a LOT of the problems with this car... The driver seat was stuck and I'm short, the seatbelt didn't work, the windshield wipers didn't work, the defroster/ blower didn't work and on top of that the tires were old as shit. I couldn't see really at all unless I stuck my head out the window, every time I hit a puddle the car went completely sideways and of course there were tons of big trucks that splashed water in my driver window every couple minutes. Scary as hell but everything worked out. That car would easily do epic burnouts but I sure as hell was very happy when I sold that one.

Story is hella relatable for me I’m 17 got enough money for a 89 vette litterslly 2500$ with 149000 miles it’s been nothing but smiles wish more people knew about the hidden treasure that is a c4. Great video as usual

Casey Putsch? Holy Crap it's gonna be a GREAT story.

This story is literally where I am in my life right now... I daily my C4 Corvette... and I drive it EVERYWHERE. There are some roads in my town that people are to afraid to drive up as the entrance is so steep they are afraid to scrape, and then there's me just tripoding my Vette around the corner like this is just totally normal. Always freaks people out. Same with gravel and dirt roads... those are my favorite... just take the thing careening down some old gravel road like a rally car and letting the rear step out around every corner... plus seeing the rooster tails in the rearview mirror never gets old :D Only ever drove it in the snow once though... and that was on the old tires I bought it with... might be better now with its new tires, but on the old ones it was downright terrifying. I got mine for 4 grand... yeah... no joke... and it is in fantastic condition. The only thing I don't like about my car is its an automatic. I have contemplated doing a swap, but compared to most manual swaps doing one in a Vette appears to be a royal PITA, so since they are so cheap, I might just get another one that is already a manual.

Yup! That's how I cut my teeth on fast cars. Bought a yellow 6 speed 60k mile '94 C4 when I was 21 and absolutely loved it even with all of its quirks. It wasn't perfect but it was mine and I sold it for a low mile C5z in 2013. To this day I still want that car back! I never should have sold it.

I never thought I would want a c4 corvette, I always thought of them as being complete rust buckets and that the corvette was only cool if it was a c5+++, but this guy and rabbit have brainwashed me into wanting a c4! Hahahah

Haha i love this. I'm 22 and recently purchased my first car, which happens to br a C4 corvette and I love the thing. It's a blast to drive and you feel super cool. Still has its quirks for being a old car though, and needs a new clutch. But for now it runs haha

Why do so many people think of the C4 as the black sheep of the corvette family? They look good and have some interesting history, I mean their first year none were sold. That's interesting in and of it's self for a Corvette anyway.

Just sharing my experience with a Corvette. Currently I am 17 and own my first corvette which is an 1984 c4 no hood.... I live in a small town as well without a police station tho, and It is probably the best car for a 17 year old to have, tons of fun.

Tip to all c4 owners I read somewhere that there’s 3 mounting points in the trunk for the roof So if it’s raddling back there check for a 3rd mounting point

LT1 cars are fun. I’ve had some fun with my Firebird. I’ve dodged a bunch of accidents. One time a guy was trying to pass someone on a road that was one way each direction. So I had 2 cars coming straight at me so I had to swerve off the road to avoid a head on crash. Fun times.

I have a C4 and did exactly the same thing with the roof. Forgot to bolt it down one day and it flew off and shattered on the pavement.

My dad was always like that too, but after I brought a car home. "The pin striping is overlapping different on this fender than the other fender, why is this the same button as that". Wish I'd taken him on more buying expeditions, he's better about the particulars, I'm more about how does it run, is it going to be reliable.
