When did the wheeler dealers ever make a profit on a car? Usually they paid x amount of money on the car and y amount of money on parts and sold it for x+y+200 bucks... They never calculated any expenses for the garage and mechanics hours into the bill - they made a loss on any car they had on that show.
Yes, if you change it the life will be longer. If you don't it will be shorter and you are screwed :D If it was actually sealed, they wouldn't have desgined it to be able to change it at all.
hm, mine has 175,000 miles on it.. and is 17 years old.. never been opened.. and is shifting just as good as it did the day it was new..... in that horrid unreliable BMW 3 series.. so yeah... whatever.
Hoovie: *I've got a baby. This one is the cheapest one in the country* Doug: *This is Hoovie's baby, i'm gonna review it and show you the quirks and features* Tavarish: *What's going on guys, in today video we gonna turn this baby from 4 wheel drive into 2 wheel drive and make some power*
Love how everything sounds fancier in Italian. A high-end luxury car that simply translates as 'four-door.' Same goes with french. 'Crême Brulée' just means 'burnt cream.'
A Ferrari in all but name , saw this model being assembled on the production line as part of my 40th birthday treat to Italy. 12 years ago. Watched the process ,as parts from the Ferrari factory were being added to the car as it moved along the line . Such a cool car ! Straight pipe it !!!
I visited the factory also and missed my car’s production day by one week in April. My car has 58000 miles with no mechanical problems. I had 4 12000 miles services in 15 years and still have the original clutch! I drive only on manual sport mode. The most reliable car I had - more reliable than the E39 2001 M5 I owned before the Maserati
@@gurkpojken I was at the doctors office today! My Doctor came in and sat down, pulled a thermometer out of his breast pocket and sighed. "What's wrong?" I asked him. "Some asshole has got my pen" he replied.
Seems like a good deal. The car can later be sold with a link to this video to show he had everything fixed. So then he will make a profit big time I think
wrapdump Knowing what a moron Hoovie can be, it could even be the terminals Whether it's not the proper connection or the condition itself especially if that car has been sitting for a while, but you should always change the battery when you buy a used car especially if you know it's been sitting... I also change my key battery as well and immediately change the oil
best Maseratis are the ones with 1 or two owners, low miles. I got mine 2007 with 20k, 100% stock, 100% perfect, love it. I just drove non stop from Arkansas to San antonio, non stop, not a single problem
People who speak badly of Maserati generally have never had one and do not know the car. They are great cars and, unlike what is believed, they are generally very reliable
Wizard needs an old timer counting machine. The kind that spits out the paper and uses that black tape. He can use that when he calculates your bill. It would be hilarious
Guys, I'm Italian, and I can say that without a doubt The Wizard's Italian accent on the "nessun dorma" was perfect. I was impressed. Hoovies though...
$8k for the car + $4k for the repairs is still a decent deal for an old QP in good mechanical shape. Most of this is deferred maintenance from an owner who couldn't afford to maintain the car.
I'm in love with this Maserati. A few years ago, my neighbour had the same one, in black. What a beautiful animal ! For what I know, he didn't had too many problems with this car but for what I saw he didn't drive it that much. Was not his daily driver. Whatever, magnifiicent car and what a sound... love it !
Love your channel hoovie! The fact that you have a legit mechanic otherwise know as the Car Wizard to do your work, and you dont try and chop the car up and bring it up to ghetto spec like "other pages" is awesome
Just found your channel. This was great. Owning these sorts of cars and the maintenance involved, as you know, comes with the territory. Especially Maserati. Would have sold mine years ago and stuck to hassle free, low cost super reliable Japanese motoring. Nothing sounds like a naturally aspirated Maserati V8 though. And you have a very rare colour example there. Bordeaux Pontevecchio is one of "THE" colours to get with the cream interior. Nice vid!
Provided nothing else pops up, I guess $13k isn't too terrible for a zero issue Quattroporte. Still spending an additional 50% of the purchase price to fix the car, but hey, that's better than usual.
I feel like any time that you are purchasing a luxury sports car or a luxury car used and it's over 6 years old you're going to spend at least 50% of its value on initial repairs when you buy it.
Ironically for an Italian V8, this thing has a crossplane crank; only the Ferrari V8s were equipped with a flat plane crank, which makes them sound a lot different. It sounds more like an American or a conventional European V8, especially at idle. With only about 400 HP and even less torque in a car that weighs in over 4000 lb, it's all show and no go.
Maseratis started popping up where I live about 2 years ago. I figured the leases were up and people were dumping them right as the warranty ran out. Beautiful, but can be maintenance hell. Looking forward to seeing how it works out for you.
At 1:33 Wizard's true fillings💞 are apparent for the Maserati and Hoovie, I felt rather awkward viewing that part I felt like turning away. Awesome Hoovie!
I think It’s because he charges by the book no matter what. Which is fair in my opinion. My mechanic is a bit cheaper but I would be willing to pay wizard prices for good quality work, which it seems like he does.
Don’t ZF boxes have XYZ Switches that tell the box ECU which gear they’re in? I know that Discovery’s use them and the air con drains fluids straight onto them and they corrode inside.
Here I am on a Saturday afternoon watching old hoovie vids I missed, and it dawns on me the wizard isn't spending his hoovie money on a yacht he is spending it on diagnostic tools to fix hoovies hoopties, man has all the tools
@3 name changes allowed every 90 days. Since you got so much common sense.. how about you send me some money so that I can buy a big speaker, that way your need to remind people who lack common sense will be fulfilled.
Absolutely superb design, but built from egg boxes and old tat. I've had 2 of these. The main problem is the throttle potentiometers, above the gas pedal. They are made with a plastic strip covered in carbon. A metal pointer tracks up and down and wears the carbon away meaning the engine is at full power or tickover. Replacement costs £2000. Then there's the seals, bearings and ancillaries. Rich man's car, but lovely.
6:30 A fart of biblical proportions. I heard it through my S550 sound system, compare it to a home theater sound, so trust me when I recommend you check your underwear. The wetness reverberated through my body as the volume was turned up.
Hoovie your videos are the best out of all the automotive youtubers. Everyone else i watch im bored of now but not yours. Other than JR Go too i like his videos too.
Nice QP the color's great. I don't think the motor mounts are bad- the bottom of the mount is covered with what you showed on the video. Do all the rest especially the trans service and enjoy the ride. I have a black '07 executive GT with the ZF -great transmission.
It is sometimes astonishing what can still be salvaged when one is willing and able to tear stuff apart and get into the real fiddly stuff. A mechanic is not going to do that, doesn't pay, he will just drop a unit in which saves him labor. Not the mechanics fault, just doesn't pay him to work otherwise.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wondered why the option of the TV in the Quattroporte wasn’t offered in the US market... There must be a reason for this.
That's a good mechanic you got there. Most of them will jack up the price when they see a luxury/sport import from Europe. My old mechanic tried to jip me in replacing both MAF seniors in my Jaguar XKR for $2,150. saying he had to remove the the front bumper to get to them. When I told him he just needed to remove both front tires and wheel well covering...... he got mad, and I found a new mechanic . New mechanic did it for $865 and said it was a easy fix
It would be great to have you do a show in the UK. Something like doing the auctions, picking some great deals, gracing the English countryside roads with them, then shipping them back to the US. Happy to help if you might be up for it.
Used ac compressor on Mercedes 2005 is $600 and he list parts and parts used and new for under $300.Dont cry THAT BABY IS WORTH EVERY SINGLE DIME...Best man's roar for girls over 50.So much in LOVE WITH THIS CAR ...Everything on it is above the BEST...🤗❤
Whenever I need an engine or transmission mount I just take the old ones out and fill them in with polyurethane caulk from Home Depot. I once fixed two engine and one transmission mount for only $7. Performance mounts are generally polyurethane instead of the softer OEM rubber which gives it a bit of a crisper feel when accelerating, however, there is a little bit more vibration that passes to the frame because it's not as soft as the rubber. In most cases barely or not even noticeable.
