So, they can see if these claims are reasonable, what's evidence supports it, is there anything that makes it unlikely, unreasonable, or seemingly impossible. What are arguments against it, is it too early to make a conclusion? Is it backed up by other sources? are these sources credible? what do they have to lose from lying? Do they have a reputation to uphold? What do other sources think of this source? It doesn't have to be perfect getting people to question their thoughts and assumptions how did they come to know it? How do they know it's true? Could they be wrong? Just ask probing questions of yourself and others to try and understand where they're coming from and where they might of went wrong and jumped to a conclusion, got the wrong impression, assumed something, was mistaken about a particular fact or mistaken fact they're drawing on to help draw this particular conclusion. We all can play a part and we're going to have to, you can find your own style and your own way to engage with misinformation on topics you know something about and can help correct, you'll quickly learn the dialogue trees, the common rebuttals you can prepare yourself by asking yourself what arguments there are against the position what are some likely responses if I say [ ] you'll also be able to learn common pitfalls you put yourself in. You can refine the way you pose a particular thing, or say a particular thing, that will cut off potential avenues of rebuttal. Mind you it's a lot easier to argue from the truth, and facts however that doesn't mean you can't get hung up or stuck. It happens

Yes, it's tiring and distracting, but because the authoritarian, minoritarian opposition won't stop thinking about it and planning the end of democracy, it's certainly prudent and forward-thinking to spend some time over the next two years thinking of these things. Personally, I'm glad the opposition got stupidly greedy (the Hobbs decision, among a few other things) impelling the liberty-minded part of the electorate to the polls.

The election advertising season is what makes it tedious. I'd prefer that they all agreed to hold the ads and mailers until one month before the first primary. Lamentably, that would require them all to keep their word.

No one but Manchin will ever win WV as a Democrat, and even then, it's gonna be an incredibly uphill climb for him. AZ is a different story, but we need to have a bit more appreciation Manchin more than we do right now, since we're not gonna get any better than him.

I don't like Sinema either. But sometimes primarying candidates backfires. In the OR-5th CD the incumbent Democrat was Kurt Schrader. He was defeated in the primary only to have his challenger end up losing in the GE. Now that CD is flipped Republicans and was one of the races that helped them take back the House.

Chuck is a Republican. He always does this. What he needs to look at is, will voting trends from 2020 to 2022 continue? If so, Democrats should retain the Senate in 2024. Only way Democrats retain Sinema’s seat is if she gets full support from Democrats because she is moderate and works with Republicans in what is still a purple state at best.

DeSantis and Rubio won FL by 20 while also flipping Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Duval, Osceola and West Palm Beach counties. Zeldin got within 5 points of winning NY governorship and flipping 4 competitive districts. CA and TX also had red waves. The difference between this year and 2024 is that WV, OH, and MT should be easy Senate pickups for the GOP. They could also pick up PA, MI, WI, NV, AZ, MN, NM, and VA. All of those senate seats are held by democrats. It’s impossible for them to keep all of those seats in swing states. Cope

I looked at the results. She won 57.3% vs 42.7%. I still like Chuck Todd, but I agree that he would need to elaborate. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say the early results were tight. That wouldn't constitute a "mini-scare" IMO but I suppose that's subjective.

It really depends on how party driven the voter is. Some people do always vote for a Democrat or a Republican. Others look at all the candidates (including third parties) and determine who they want to vote for. I usually have voted based on party unless I have a problem with the person who is running. Not everyone is like me, nor should they be. I encourage people to do as much research as possible on all the candidates that are running for the positions you vote on.
