I test drove a Hennessey Mammoth TRX with over 1000 HP (couldnt pull the trigger on $146k) in march and its so nice. If you look at the TRX and the Ford Raptor you would think they are competing for the same space but TRX is a completely different level. Great review.
Thanks for doing this video, I agree with you on all points, but I use my TRX as a daily driver, and drive it conservatively most of the time and have achieved a 14.6 MPG average! I have to admit this vehicle feels so good to own, and it’s my first Mopar. Thanks again for the video, you hit the nail right on the head. 👍
Eco mode is our best friend during these times lol, literly aveaging 13 to 14mpg then i get a little crazy here and there and back in single digits lol
I almost bought one but shyed away with fear of the fuel economy. I would be daily driving mine as well but that actually doesn't sound too bad. I average 17 - 18 in my Ram 1500 5.7.
@@brewaire i might be wrong but i atleast have noticed that hellcat doesnt produce boost in eco unless you floor it, my guess bypass Throttle body stays open and acts N/A? So if its N/A ish in eco its smaller CI then the 392 but bigger then the 5.7 Idk how bad the parasidic loss is with the SC still being spun even if it has a clutch but if i didnt have moments of rage on the road i think id forsure be over 15
Awesome review! There's no doubt that the TRX is one of the most badass trucks on the market! I hope one day you'll be able to get a chance to own one of these very special trucks!
GREAT video, RacerX! You know how to pack the most into an 11-minute video. LOVE the black. I just got my TRX on 9/7/22 and I could not be happier. Only about 150 miles and one car show so far, but man is she fantastic. I parked her at the show diag in 2 spaces and my friend is like....one space....park like a normal person. I'm like...it's a TRX SHE GETS TWO SPACES! OMG what a truck. Remember, if you can't Dodge it.....RAM it!
I have seen one in person and yes it is big, wide and tall. It's a beautiful truck, my only complaint with the one I saw was after the Ram Bar on the back and the tire mounted on top of the bed left very little usable bed room.
I’m debating between getting a TRX or a C8 corvette. I’m leaning towards the TRX because I already have a Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep all I need is a RAM 😂
I use to have an 2021 hellcat redeye charger as my first mopar vehicle. Then I order an 2022 ram TRX. Waited 8 months and put 12k miles on the charger. When my TRX arrived I traded my charger hellcat redeye and I surely believe the TRX is an overall better vehicle in and out. I’m keeping my Ram 1500 TRX and also I have a 2015 Nissan GTR as my sport car. I’m satisfied✌️
I just drove from Southern California to the Montana border with Canada and I stayed in the truck for 20 hours. It was the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven and all of the different things like lane assist, adaptive cruise control, the center stack navigation system, etc. were all perfect! I've driven a LOT of different vehicles long distances, this one was the absolute best of the best. This truck was really thought out and RAM used the best engineers money can afford. Beyond excellent truck!!!!!!!
@@carguy0389 this truck has the horsepower, torque, frame to pull heavy with just a little work. It has a Dana 60 rear end too. Even though it’s technically a 1500-it wouldn’t take much to turn into a 2500 or 3500 it has most anything needed. If they put a redeye in this then even more so. I heard they’re going to add another setting in too so that almost all power goes to just the back wheels. That has nothing to do with pulling but takeoffs could be intense with a 80/20 90/10 split and probably get better gas mileage without full AWD all the time.
@@RacerX9 There are some dealers still doing up to 10k off new TRX orders. I’m actually doing this to get into a base model cheap to hopefully upgrade with a JMB 850hp package.
Hi Paul, I just wanted to touch base with you to tell you that I just subscribed to your channel after watching you on BOS's channel. Well done sir with your Mustang build. Well done indeed! Save the Wave 🙋♂
I agree with you about the TRX being the best of the three. I have been bless to have had two of the three ( 2018 Trackhawk and 2021 TRX ) I still have the TRX and most likely keep it for a long time. To me the TRX handles and rides better than the Trackhawk but nowhere near as fast!! Love the interior of these MOPARS. Thank you for your channel. KAT
Okay just found this video I'm a follower about 3 weeks ago I found a 22 orange TRX I've been looking for a year its a level 2 I traded in my 2020 1320 challenger and 15 Ram ignition orange for this truck The looks I Get and The compliments I get its crazy I'm in NJ I don't think there's another around the area in orange
Hey people need to understand, if their going to get a big girl (Hemi’s), she’s going to eat (gas). I have a big girl, and I love feeding her! Daytona 392 , she’s a fun ride! 😂👍🏻
I'm really starting to love these trucks more and more. I "Just" found out yesterday that Dodge cancelled my order for my 22' Charger Redeye-Jailbreak and it really pissed me TF off that I waited 8 months and they can't even order a 23. Even if they could let me order their talking recklessly about that ol ADM bullshit since they wanna price gouge on the final year cars. I'm not participating in that foolishness and I'm just gonna keep my RT and I might check out a TRX since these are the only Hellcats they can seem to build now. It's pathetic how everything is now and TRXs won't have as much negativity going with it like the Charger/Challengers. Koons CDJR in Tysons Corner VA is showing 35 on deck and they got a nicely loaded black on (equipped identical to this one^^) available now. I might just do it. Surprisingly the insurance quotes I've gotten are waayyy cheaper with the TRX despite it weighing as much as a planet and the fact I can do more dumb shit & shenanigans with a TRX all year round as opposed to the Charger. This might be my next vehicle and I'll just buy a Hellcat Redeye used one day if anyone is willing to sell. TRX has key features the Hellcat Charger doesn't. Better dash, 12" screen, Pano roof, Lane Assist + advanced cruise and a rear seat armrest, basically simple shit every other 100k car in the world has standard that the Charger will never ever have lol.
Okay Racer X...as I had mentioned to you previously, I recently was fortunate enough to acquire a gorgeous Gen V 2014 Viper GTS with 7000 miles. Here is my question to you....would you rather have the TRX...or the Viper? I know it's a tough question but I am very interested in seeing your thoughts and comments on this inquiry. Thanks, Mike
You’d drive the TRX a hell of a lot more. I have 2 Vipers and a TRX and the TRX just leaves me smiling. My Vipers are great but I feel bad for abusing them, they are kinda tight on the inside and I always worry about them when leaving them in a parking lot for extended periods of time. TRX don’t have to deal with any of that.
@@L8TERG97 "People", whatever kind they are, are starting to get a hate on for nice cars. I don't know how bad it is where you are, but there seems to be the thought out there that you don't deserve what you have!!
If only Ram did what Ford and Shelby did when they collabed on the current gen Shelby F150 being the quad cab off road or single cab sport rwd package. I feel the regular cab rwd would average a much better fuel economy.
I'm probably 1 of very few people who was disappointed by the TRX. Mainly cause I figured that it would compete with the F150 Super Snake & not the Raptor.
I feel like this is a slightly dishonest comparison. The TRX is optimized for off-road while the super snake is not, TRX is about 3000 lbs heavier and still beats the super snake off the line. The super snake is also more expensive, you can get into a 900 or 1000hp TRX for the price of the super snake.
@@TK0Tapout Exactly!!! The Super Snake is a street truck, as was the Lightning. Both trucks were built for different purposes. I do wish Ram would've made a street version of the TRX to fill that void that's been there since the SRT-10 Ram was discontinued in what, '08? Funny thing is that a TRX can still outrun the SRT-10 Ram in the quarter.
Baddest factory truck ever made and by far the sexiest....I don't like the looks of the Raptor and doubt the 5.2 will put out the TQ this Hemi will and if they do manage to do that I can see Dodge dropping in the red eye engine...it wouldn't take any modifications to do that at all.
RACERX I WATCH YOU 24/7 I’m your Biggest Fan I would like to donate my check to you or buy 270$ in merchandise my dad has a ram it’s broken down right now lifters gone I’ll never have anything like this I wish but I can live through Racerx and watch his videos thanks man
Absolutely not, when you put something performance based in a pickup truck it obviously looses tons of its performance by virtue of being in a pickup chassis. Id much rather my performance engine be in a car something aerodynamic that is actually fast. A full sized pickup truck is about as aerodynamic as a brick, the hellcat widebody challenger is much faster like two seconds at the track and that's the entire purpose of buying something performance based in the first place. The last thing on my mind when looking at a truck is how fast it is , I've always found high performance engines in 4 x4s kind of ridiculous and useless, their potential is being killed by being in a truck or suv chassis!
3.9 seconds to 60 (living in Phoenix), 3.5 seconds is quickest I've recorded in Newport Beach (low 60's/damp ocean air). I'd say that is 'actually fast' : ) It's a daily driver (just like the 2014/2017 Raptors prior) and gets plenty of use, more so than taking a Challenger Hellcat Widebody to Home Depot. From the generated HOA letter from 'cold starts' to smile producing response every drive... it's a useful platform with enjoyable excess that can be comfortably utilized.
It's actually AWD, & there is an option in both the Charger & Challenger. It used to be the Pursuit model in the Charger, which has the 5.7 HEMI. Now it's only available in the GT models of both cars, but they have the Pentastar.
I know a way to get the TRX with out too much pain. You can trade your GM junk that is made for g_y, old and wte people. The TRX is not meant to compete with the other Hellcats. The other cats are on road muscle cars t
As much as i want to jump on a TRX i just know for a fact the redeye engine is going in soon, no way dodge lets the Raptor R come out and reclaim the throne. That being said there will be so many TRX for sale, everyone i know that has a TRX got it becasue the ecoboost raptor didnt have the power etc, and now its confirmed the Raptor R will have a V8 im 99% sure its a supercharged V8 from the GT500..... its only natrual to assume the red eye is in the works my guess it gets annouced this year
I dragged a brand new RAM TRX at kilcare Raceway and he ran a 12.49 1/4 mile. My Mustang ran 12.68 and its NA... TRX is pretty quick for being a 5000lb whale.
I have a Ram 1500 and a Challenger T/A 6.4. I was thinking about trading in my vehicles as well. I put about 25,000 miles a year on my Ram 1500 so I was reluctant to buy the TRX. Especially now with gas prices. Can you give an opinion if you had to put a lot of miles on the TRX?
@@brewaire Hey great point to consider. I don’t have a very long commute each day a mix of Highway and some stop and go. I might hit 10,000 miles a year. The TRX is fantastic and I am consistently getting between 11.0 and 11.4 miles per gallon regardless of drive mode. That is with me driving responsibly but if I wanna hit the gas and takeoff I do so. My other vehicle is a 2018 ram 3500 Cummins that is stock and although diesel prices are high if I ever got my back against the wall it gets better mileage. Both diesel and premium are currently around $5.35 or so here in Kentucky. Bottom line: with today’s crazy used car market you might be able to come close to a TRX with little or anything owed or at least not very much owed. I would consider some form of backup economy type vehicle however if the TRX were my only vehicle and I was committed to a large amount of miles annually. I honestly think today’s prices and inflation are going to be part of the new normal for quite a while and we have not even got to the worst of it yet. Yes the TRX is fantastic and if you can do it, do so. My hellcats we’re wonderful 2016 units challenger and charger. They were paid off so I got 50,000 apiece on trade-in and walked out of the door with a TRX. But again were that my “only“ vehicle, it is only the short commute to work that would carry the day for me. I hope that’s helpful and feel free to respond! 😃
@@brewaire rumor has it that they’re going to put another setting in it to send most if not all power to just rear tires. Even if it’s 80/20 or 90/10 instead of 100% then the gas mileage should get a little better not being AWD all the time. Sick burnouts too.
I just can’t do that. I’m too attached to my Durango Hellcat and Charger Hellcat (50th anniversary) both are basically limited addition. So I’m just banking money and basically waiting to hear them say they’re putting the redeye engine in it and I’ll go broke getting it. I plan on having it forever so just hoping for the redeye engine for the stronger parts-not so much the horsepower. I almost traded the Charger Hellcat in on it but my wife and kids freaked out or cried and wouldn’t let me. I would’ve chickened out anyway. So now I’m just committed to being broke for awhile to get it. C’mon Dodge do the Redeye engine in it!!
I sure do love trx but still rather own a Durango, charger, challenger or a track hawk due to I have a one ton to do my heavy towing but awesome content RACER-X and as always be safe 👍
Awesome review Racer X 👍👍 I'm hoping after the new raptor comes out the TRX will have the redeye 🙏🙏 I believe many people will just on that TRX-R with 807 😎 Go out with a bang I say
Nice one RacerX, the TRX made Ford go back to to a V8 on the Rapter R coming out with the GT500 motor package. I didn't think they would but Dodge made them do it. Looks like a very nice riding truck, it's a shame you couldn't get yours.
I am extremely happy that Dodge shamed Ford into brining back a V8 raptor. They claimed for years that buyers didn't care and everyone was more than happy with the ecoboost. Turns out not everyone (including myself) wants a V6 performance oriented vehicle.
It's an amazing pickup truck which will likely continue due to the different government regulations pickup trucks have over the other Hemi vehicles. That's why Ford is introducing the Raptor R that uses the GT500 engine. I recently decided with $60,000 + EVs being pushed by our government along with the crazy high prices for performance vehicles. For those reasons along with the crazy record high gas prices and record inflation. I'll keep my 2018 Chrysler 300C with only 23,000 miles and not have a $800 and higher vehicle payment for vehicles like the TRX, Black Wing and GT500. RacerX. I said this before, I'll continue to enjoy these fantastic performances vehicle through your informative videos while test driving some of these vehicles at local dealerships. Thanks and keep those reviews coming.
I drove a TRX from Des Moines to Minneapolis and saw almost 15mpg!! Not bad for what this beast is.. awesome upload X! REMEMBER:) i can get you $9000 off sticker on a TRX.
@@brewaire Granger Motors, Iowa. I drove my trade from Phoenix, got $1000 more than offered locally and picked up our factory TRX order. Seamless and they locked in the price (which went up since we ordered end of October 21'.
I have to say, I love my Trackhawk but that might be because at 1100+ hp it is fast enough to surprise most I race (runs 10.2 at 132 mph). That said, I love my TRX and I feel like I drive way more civilized in the TRX as I don't feel the need to push it as much as the Trackhawk. I use my TRX for offroading often so I love both but it depends on where I am going
Racerx in my hero I love him so much I can’t sleep anymore unless I play his videos something about Racerx voice calms me. I have never been so happy iam since I met Racerx. He was going to block me until I explained I was just upset he was not msg me then we worked it out! When i turn 18 I’m going to move that way and follow in his footsteps he is literally so smart when it comes to a ram or raceing others I feel he could be the top dog instead of Big chief or jay jay the boss Racerx is street king
Agreed, all around the Best & toughest looking Dodge vehicle that serves the greatest flexibility that performs all excellent. Ty for this video.🤗 ~Jennifer~💃
BULLSHIT, it only has a top speed of 118 mph. It is the WORST HELLCAT EVER PERIOD. NUFF SAID Great video and content as always and keep up the great work.
Says who...you? Because you can't afford one? Or because you're just an opinionated fool? I own a 2022 and it's fantastic, so thanks for your opinion, KEEMER.
