Here's Why You Should Have A Driveway Alarm... 

If these are concealed, they are more effective. Maybe hang a birdhouse with one of these attached , blending into the color scheme.

It's really one of the cheapest, life-saving things you can get. As they say, "Time buys you options."

A few tips on these from a guy who has used them for a couple years... 1. Best to point the sensor away from direct sunlight exposure. Sunrise and sunset sets off false alarms. 2. Check them as needed for spiders and other foreign objects. Spiders really like mine for some reason. An alcohol wipe helps keep the lens clean. 3. Redundancy is key. A camera (system) pointed in it's direction is very helpful. 4. Replace the batteries every 6 months or sooner if needed. If not the replaceable battery type, keep that solar panel clean for reliable charging. 👍⚔

Mine went off last night 7 times in about 3 minutes just after dark. I grabbed my shotgun and my large LED flashlight. I thought that it may only be deer but they normally only set it off once or twice in a row. To my surprise it was three wolves running around in a circle. Yes, we have wolves in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

I would like to add that most of the base stations can do lots of sensors. I would also add 4 sensors for every wall of the house outside.

We live in a rural area and have one of these at the end of our 150 yard long driveway. It can be a pain sometimes with the deer constantly tripping it late at night when you're sleeping and having to get up to see if it's an animal or someone actually coming down the driveway but it's worth it for the peace of mind it provides. I used to have to get up and go outside with my high lumens flashlight and shine it in that direction to see what it was (which really sucked in the winter time when it's below freezing out) but I solved that problem by installing a motion-activated floodlight just past where the driveway alarm sensor is so that if I hear it go off at night I can just get up and look out the window to see what set it off because it will be fully illuminated by the floodlight.

Great suggestion Jason. I would even go one step further by concealing these sensors in a fake rock like those used for outdoor speakers or fake cactus if the climate matches this plant to keep from alerting anyone that they have been detected.

I would implement those along with a camera system. My camera system is with those sensors & I can both change my tv to the camera channel or pull it up on my phone wherever I'm at when a sensor is tripped.

There must be a more aesthetic or concealed way of mounting it.

God Bless you Mr. Hanson! I feel so vindicated!!!!! We've had a driveway alarm for years! I HIGHLY recommend them! Can not emphasize strongly enough how effective they are! And they're CHEAP!!!! We live in a little ho dunk po dunk town out here in the pucker-brush of New Hampshire. Our driveway is only about 100 or so feet long just off a dirt road. We also have the property covered with cameras. We also have the house wired with a monitored security system. We also have motion activated flood lights I also have a terrible attitude..... Not sure which will present the greatest problem for a bad-guy.... (The last one can be a bit of an issue for EVERYBODY... but we won't go into that...!) The base unit is in our bedroom and it wakes us up when it goes off. The only problem we have is that USUALLY when it goes off nether my wife nor I get up and grab a gun any more (there's always one close by). We just look at the cameras to see what animal is snooping around... Usually it's one of the bear, deer, moose, fox, opossum, skunk, raccoon, or whatever.... Only had one "bipedal interloper" in the past 20 years. Motion light popped on about the same time I was opening the door and hollering. ...saw nothing but ass, heels, and elbows.... We just LOVE that driveway alarm!!!!! Dirt cheap and so simple to install, I'll bet Joe Biden could do it... (well.... it MIGHT give him a LITTLE trouble...) ;) God Bless! Stay well.... and SAFE!

I've had one for a long time. That, along with our two dogs barking, not much gets past us with anyone approaching the house. Early warning systems of any type really matter.

Excellent advice, what is your thoughts on having a dog? I feel like they are the best protection. I sleep easy at night. They alert you when someone’s around. I also leave a large dog bowl outside the gate. Advertising that we have canines.

I would gave used three one in the beginning middle snd 50 ft from the end .

I've had seven of these things. Every one has quit. And when they did work, every waving blade of grass set them off. Maybe it is because I live in a harsh tropical environment. I love the idea, but the "offshore" parts aren't good enough in my opinion. Now I have a good dog.

Jason, Some dopers will steal that alarm, thinking it’s worth money at the local swap meet so they can buy drugs. Perhaps ‘stake’ it by a bush so it’s not so obvious? The owner would have to make sure the bush’s branches don’t brush against the detector. Just my 2 cents worth, I’m no expert on this stuff, that’s why I subscribe. 🤔😁👍

Thanks for the video. I'd love to see where you got this one. I have one that had stopped working and ordered another of the same kind. I had changed the batteries of the one that stopped working, but it didn't restart. I tried one more battery change, and it suddenly worked again. I'll probably still still install the other one somewhere eventually. I wish mine let me set the noises differently. Mine is constantly being triggered by deer, coyotes, birds, and the wind. On a windy day, mine chimes constantly. I still like having that chance to know that someone may be approaching.

I figured out the 2 alarm thing with my 1/5 mile driveway to deal with false alarms, usually from deer but even birds sometimes. The 1 minute of notice has been plenty of time to grab a gun and keep an eye on an unknown vehicle coming to my house.

I had one of these but it was different brand than the one you are showing. It worked good for almost a month. Then it was worthless, kept chiming almost constantly false alarms during daylight hours but barely chimed at all at night or when it was supposed to, like when driving or walking past it. Can't remember the brand because it went in the trash, but Beware of the crap sold on eBay!!

I don't have a driveway, but i do have a restricted access yard and garage. I mounted an inexpensive magnetic wireless alarm on the gate and another on the garage overhead door. I have it set for two different chimes, and I can add 8 more units. If anyone opens the front gate, the alarm chimes. If the garage door opens even an inch, the alarm chimes. it gives me warnings that someone is in the yard or someone other than myself has accessed the garage , aka B & E. This buys me time to react and decide on what my response will be. Is it my neighbor stopping by, or is it a stranger. I wouldn't be aware of their presence if the alarm hadn't alerted me, and that is its job,To alert me. Being alert buys you time and time buys you options.

My driveway is a half mile long. I have two so I can decipher between animals and cars. Mine are also hidden. I can’t recommend them enough.

I have this exact driveway alarm. I know when anything is coming my way from 150 yards away. One of the best security supplements that can be had.

Hey Jason, Gen J here, sorry this is a question off line of this video. I moved to Thailand a couple of months ago and the biggest issue is if something happens in a confirmation between 1-2 Thais and you can’t run they will gang up on you fast. What’s the best way if this happens to defend yourself? I know and have used the Bruce Lee massive double fist to the face and that would work with 1-3 people but after that, I might be screwed. Black object on stick in middle of nowhere may look like camera. Why not make it less suspicious? Camouflage tape will do the job.

i had one - didn't last long, every time a leaf moved the thing went off, it responds to movement, no way for it to discern that trees blowing in the breeze are not an intruder

Is there an alarm like this that can be set up at distance for a perimiter alarm for everyday use .I have seen the little boobytrap devices but those to me are for a much worse situation and could be made cheaper.plus they are limited to the amount of string or wire you have and it will stretch

I have a driveway alarm that is constantly being set off when it rains. I have to turn it off becuse it will not stop until it dries out, which defeats the purpose. Do the cameras in this video do that? Where can I find one that works correctly even if it rains? TYIA

A good cctv system has software that does everything except make the tea. And if you can utilize an internet connection Amazon do these cheap little remote cameras with lithium batteries that will give you alarm triggered videos. Great for outbuildings.

We have one called "Mighty Mule" and it's supposed to be good for 350 ft. from the receiver. Most of the time it doesn't work. We keep changing batteries as it is not solar powered. It is metal sensing only for cars, not animals. It only has one sensor ring tone capability. We're not really happy with it, and would like to know what you are using that can signal that distance with 2 sensors and is solar powered. Can you give me a Mfr. name or where to get it? How close to the sensor is the object supposed to be? Marcia in Texas

If you put a third alarm out there , with the chime near it set on loud, the bad guys hear it, know alarms are present, and will leave, saving you a shooting !

I found them to be worthless. They only go off when people are leaving my house, they never wake up in time to notify me they are incoming, they only last 6 months before total failure and every bird that flies past sets it off... and with it my three dogs. I installed a gate, painted the posts purple and a solar opener.

No brainier just go under, behind it or simply dismantle it, this needs to be hidden .

I need to do this with a camera so i can catch these people harassing me honking past the house. Having camera set up is also good for when people purposefully run over mailboxes.
