In this video I unbox and test a cool little motion sensor alarm system.
Use it to let you know when someone comes down your driveway, or approaches any area you want to know about!

These are the bomb! I have gone thru about every brand of crappy sensor ..optical & magnetic in 30yrs for our 1/4mi drive thru the woods. I only have two of these, one at ~600' and a second at 200'. The deer use the drive, and that's Ok. I cut the ears off and painted them Came; they are nearly impossible to see. An excellent item. Jim

Thanks for the video! I recently acquired a long driveway with some property, and the video sold me on this... I just programmed 2 sensors, THEN thought about the 2 backdoors, so I've got to get 2 more sensors. This video helped me make up my mind on which model of these I wanted. I appreciate the RU-vid review/assist here...

I am so glad to hear my video was helpful! We've also added additional sensors, a second for the driveway to differentuate between animals and cars (if both are tripped, it's a car, as animals only cross the driveway, cars drive along it), and one in our mailbox, so we know when the mail is in! Let me know what other applications you come up with for your sensors!

We're using ou on our wooded boundary so wish they had some tones that wre simply numbers or letters like One, Two A, B etc.... we cannot remember all the tones and where they are and the front door, etc are not relevant to our wooded boundary area. We have to have a little map that says garage by the old oak tree and so on. We had to mount them on T posts because our trees are either valuable old trees or half inch olive trees that cant support these. I wish they'd develop an adapter to mount these on standard trail cam mounts. Our t posts are pretty obvious to our neighbors

I'm glad the video was helpful! We love our little owls, and have added a few more. We have two in the driveway now, so when we hear only one, we know it's a deer or a cat crossing the driveway, but if we hear two in a row, it's a car! I also put one in our mailbox, at the back. Now we know when the mail is in, too...😁

Question: I have four transmitters and one base station. Once I set them up, can I move the base station from the outlet in the home office to the outlet in the kitchen without erasing their programming with the transmitters? In other words, once they are programmed, does the inside the house plugged in item need to stay put or can I move it around to where I am in the house or will that erase its connection to the transmitters? And perhaps a better way to put it is if the power goes out in the house, do I need to bring in the transmitters and reprogram them or does it retain its connection and continue working?
@DaveDrawing

Thanks! As I recall, the distances claimed were not what we got, but it was still a very long way. It may be possible with careful aiming to avoid the spot your pup likes to lay, but still provide the coverage you need... We had to make adjustments to ours on the back of the house to not be set off by every single critter we have marching by the 'Coon Buffet... 😆

Well made video. Thank you for that. I am thinking of ordering the same units. I have some question. Do you get lots of false alarms? I don't want the sensor to detect cats or dog , so for that , i wonder by putting the sensor high enough, it will not detect low animals. What do you think? I just want the units to let me know when someone is in my yard or trying to jump my fence. How is the batteries holding up so far? Thank you for your help.
@DaveDrawing
@DaveDrawing Год назад
Thanks a lot, I'm glad you found my video helpful. How high you put them isn't so imp;oirtant, because you can pivot the unit up and down once installed. It takes a few tries to get it right, but our driveway cam only triggers for cars, and taller animals like deer. Raccoons and smaller aren't a problem. There will always be a few false alarms, for example a squirel is tiny, but can climb up and pass the sensor. We have security cameras on their own monitor, so we can glance and see if its a car, or not. The battery life is phenominal, a year in now, and still on the original batteries! We added a sensor at the back of our mailbox to let us know when we have mail, it's a good application. Good luck with yours, and let us know how it goes!

Beside the squirrel, did you get a lot of false alarm like during a windy day when leaves are blowing around, birds may be flying at the right spot to activate the alarm , Bees or insects . Seriously thinking of ordering the same of what you have. Lots of them on the market including solar type but i rather buy the one that i can replace the battery. Looking forward for your comments. Thanks Dave.
@DaveDrawing
@DaveDrawing Год назад
@@rejeanpoirier6047 hello again! Yes, after a year of flawless performance, I would definitely buy this system again. I don't believe insects and birds set it off. We do have the occasional false alarm, but not enough to be an issue. As I mentioned, we use this in addition to a camera system, so when we hear the alarm, we can glance at the monitor and see if there's a car in the driveway, or a critter at our feeder, for example. Since you can have each unit make its own distinctive sound, we already know before looking which unit has been triggered. We are amazed at the battery life. I planned to change them every six months or so, but as several of you have inquired about battery life, I'm going to let these run so we can accurately say how long they last! Thanks for your message, and always feel free to ask anything you like, and share your own experiences with these once you get them. 😁

@@DaveDrawing That's good to hear Dave. Changing the batteries once every 6 months is a good idea. This way you know the battery will be always be at optimum. I will keep you in the loop once I decide to get the system. Right now I'm waiting for a price any day now from a local alarm company to see how much it will cost to install 3 wired radar sensors and a receiver. When he came over the house to get information for an estimate , he was talking maybe 500 dollars plus for only 1 sensor. So we may be talking about 3,000 thousands Dollars by the time they are all finish with installation etc.... That's a lot of money just to see if someone is in your yard lol. I can get the same system you have with 4 sensors and a receiver for 155 dollars plus shipping on amazon. Now i know the radar sensor is better then the owl but I notice you and others are very satisfied and why pay all that money for the purpose off doing the same job. So once the company emails me the estimate, I will decline and order the owl right away. I will let you know what I'm going to decide and once I get the owl. I will let you know how it's going. I am now subscribe to your channel. Thanks again for your help.

Yes, it does. With some careful aiming adjustments, it can be minimized. But if it walks down your driveway, it goes off. We found adding a second sensor further down the drive helps identify actual visitors, since you hear two alarms if it's a car or truck. In other words, "Ding, Driveway" means a cat or deer. Idk but it has an audible alert or chime like it can say "front door" or "back door" so if Alexa can be trained as she is Ai right so you can perhaps train her so when she hears the digital voice alert for "front door" she knows she is supposed to turn on the garden lights??
@DaveDrawing
@DaveDrawing 11 месяцев назад
@@user-be2mr5su1l, I don't think so. Alexa only wakes to these words: "Alexa", "Amazon," "Echo," or "Computer" . This would make it impossible for the phrases the owl can make to activate the Alexa device. Also, Alexa can only use one wake word at a time, so you'd have to say "Back Door" or "Driveway" each time you wanted to use your Alexa.

If you have a bunch of sensors how does the base unit know which one to make a particular sound on?
@DaveDrawing
@DaveDrawing Месяц назад
I don't know the electronic details of how it does it, but it does. When setting up the sensors, you just wave a hand in front of the one you're setting, and it dings. Then you use a button on the base unit to cycle through the various sounds. You can have up to 32 sensors, and even add several bases if you want the sounds to come from different areas! 😁

So now the sensor is going off about 100 times a day due to vegetation movement. I have it strapped to the fence gate facing inwards so they cant see it but my tree branches are moving constantly!
