Why are you promoting an inferior evse when your Audi evse can output up to 9.6kw at 40amps when set to 100%? Also most of your grips with monitoring/adjusting your etron’s charging can be solved if you get the myAudi app. The lane keep assist can be turned off if you find it to be annoying. You can also increase the sensitivity of the lane keep to reduce the ping ponging between lane markers. If the onboard camera can’t recognize the lane markers then the lane keep icon will turn white meaning the car is unable to keep you in the lane. Also I’ve noticed that ping ponging is greatly reduced when the adaptive cruise control is active. As far as the range goes I’m not sure why you’re having such a hard time getting around in your etron GT. My etron has had zero problems making the round trip to Boston and back on a single charge (even when it was

@vitravaah2527 You know, EV batteries usually degrade because of temperature, cycles, and time. Operating them in colder temperatures can really shorten their mileages. In warmer climates, in most cases, the AC should be on to manage the battery from overheating, which can also affect its lifespan. Your wife was annoyed because it's extremely easy to charge the car overnight, in the winter especially. The reason for most people thinking electric cars suck is because they have heard great things about a Tesla, but don't want a Tesla. So they look to other brands that say they have the same specs, but they just don't. You want great charging experience? Buy a Tesla. You want great range? Buy a Tesla. You want great reliability? Buy a Tesla. You want a great UI? Buy a Tesla. You want great autopilot? Buy a Tesla. You want something other than Tesla? Do what you did and find it was not a Tesla and you have many regrets. I personally bought a 2017 Ford Focus Electric, but took onto account that is was strictly a commuter in a temperate climate. At 6 years old, I have always had 120-140 miles range and have never seen or gotten less than 100 miles range. My car is exactly what I expected and needed. I never planned on or did road trips, and it was under $20k brand new out the door after incentives. It's not that EV's have flopped, but the non Tesla EV's that are poorly engineered. I kind of think this is on purpose to try and get governments to end mandates. If an EV does work for you, don't get one and then complain. And don't try and think others are as good or better than a Tesla, they are not. My Ford was exactly what I needed and wanted and was far less costly than a Tesla. Almost every problem you are having would not occur with a Tesla.

Johan Andreas Furebotten says... I had a very early Taycan, MY20 4S. It was a lovely car to drive but after 1,5yrs and 52000km I had a battery health check performed by my dealer and was shocked it came out at 93% SOH. Loosing 7% of my “fuel tank” over 18 months and just over 50000km of driving, albeit circa 70% on fast chargers during my long ass commute during the pandemic was something I never thought would happen. Especially as Porsche said they had us covered with a large buffer both at top and the bottom of the battery and not to worry about charging whatever or using the car as we wanted, on track or not. So I did. Home charged it over night to 100% regularly and went deep into single digits SOC when commuting and fast (50kW mostly, because our charging infrastructure sucked at the time) charged to +90% SOC before departing as it kept ~45kW of charge up to 91-92-93% SOC before tapering off. And even went out 7-8-9 days of track driving with the local Porsche Club. I really thought Porsche had us covered and we could use the car without hesitations in that regard. Turned out we couldn’t… But the worst happened 4-5 months after the battery health check. 1/1-22 on our way home from Christmas holiday we had a motor malfunction and the Taycan bricking right in the middle of the road atop a mountain during a blizzard at night. While driving along at pace enjoying the drive, suddenly without warning the throttle pedal stopped working and every conceivable warning light came on and we rolled to a halt right in the middle of the road with no possible place to get off the road. Ran out with the warning triangle 2-300m up behind the curve we just passed when it happened and rang Porsche assistance, who surely dispatched a flat bed for us but then proceeded to make my life miserable by only focusing on what we didn’t have the right to claim. So after a couple of near crashes of car almost hitting us we got the flat bed with a rental picking the car up (1400km from home) and we could drive to the nearest airport, spend the night at a hotel, have a meal and fly home the next day and a taxi home from our airport. All of which we had to pay for ourselves (within the warranty period of the Taycan), except the rescue of the Taycan. Of course Porsche had to back track and refund us everything after some phone calls to people higher up in the system, but still not a premium experience dealing with Porsche Assistance🤬🤬🤬 2 months later the car was returned from my dealer with a new rear motor as the original one had short circuited. 2 months after getting the Taycan back I swapped the darn thing for a 2018 Cayenne without an extension cord and have lived happily ever after. Good luck deciding on which premium EV to bring misery to your life🫣

The answer is to separate the battery from the car - after that resale value and mileage stress is gone. That means In future you will get always the newest battery tech (which means more range) also for older EVS. Changing the battery will take 3-5 minutes (for 90% of charge). There is a one company which offering EVS with separate battery without battery degradations or stress about battery condition but it is not in USA yet.....

So we have an electric BMW 13S. Range is about 170 miles but here's where I think a lot of people get it wrong. If you are a one car family and you only use it for relatively local work then an electric car cannot be beat. Take it further afield and the trouble starts. For these longer journeys we use the ICE car but compared to the BMW everything ICE seems old tech. We only ever charge at home, plus with Solar installed on the house we almost run it for free. In the last 6 months my wife has not visited a garage for fuel, something I think most women despise. For us it's a win-win....

Instead, you ended up with a cheap looking countertop with an iPad glued to the side. And as such, it has a complete lack of any personality to speak of. A Toyota Corolla has a considerably nicer looking interior to view. No other car has been so sloppily put together as that of a Tesla since the Yugo was no longer being sold in North America. Owning an EV makes me empathize with those Europeans who have been forced to RATION ENERGY due to the Russo-Ukraine War. This is a HUGE PRACTICE in ENERGY EFFICIENCY. You don't want to lose range so fast? You have to cut down or turn off your HVAC and accept the cold. Remember The movie Apollo 13? You CAN'T SPEED. You have to drive at a constant speed under 60 miles per hour. The Dodge crowd is really gonna hate the Banshee EV.

I love it when EV drivers think they're drag racing monsters on the streets yet they drive slower than 18 wheelers on the highway. LOL! I love passing and honking at them with my little Toyota not worrying about getting stranded. Puts a bigger smile on my face when it only takes me 2 minutes to gas up my car and go another 450 miles.

Of course, everything on an ev will affect range as it all comes from the main battery. Also don't run at high speed or tow anything or have loads of people in the car.

The car charging slowly at home isn't an issue with the car...it's because you're charging on a 20 amp circuit. You can easily cut your charging time by nearly 2/3 by upgrading to a 50 amp outlet. Of course then you wouldn't have this level of drama to drive RU-vid revenue.

I appreciate you doing an actual ownership video. The depreciation might be surprising to you because you've never had a luxury sedan NEW before... Look at the depreciation of a BMW M850 then deduct about $7,500 from that and you'll they line up pretty close. Of course now with Audi offering huge incentives it's going to go further but your car being worth 65-70k with 12k miles makes sense if you compare it to other ICE cars in the segment.

I absolutely love the look of the Audi Etron GT inside and out and had been considering one myself as prices drop, but many of the problems you talked about are just absolutely unacceptable on a car that is SO expensive MSRP. Not even 20k miles and facing points of failure? Can't even imagine the problems and cost to fix once it's out of warranty. Thanks for the video!

I bought my first EV: 2024 CADILLAC LYRIQ. $80,000 with a $5000 rebate from GM for waiting after they cancelled my 2023 order...and a $7500 tax credit. I leased it for 3 years. Before getting it, I installed a Lectron Vbox home charger. I took deliver Jan 2, 2024. I love the car. I've had the STS, SRX and XT5 and this has to be the best Cadillac they ever made. The ride is comfortable, and it's quiet inside. The materials feel almost Mercedes level. If it had more legroom like the S-class, I'd be 100% satisfied, but as is, It's more comfortable than the EQS and the 2024 E-class. Cadillac won't compete with S-class till the Celestiq. All that said: I got 2 years FREE public fast charging on EVgo. That must be the worst part of ownership. Here in NYC, EVgo chargers are nowhere to be found. I need to drive 10 miles to a shopping center where they have an 8-stall Tesla supercharger and just 2 EVgo stations. The Teslas pull in, Charge and leave almost effortlessly. I never see lines of wait there. Meanwhile, the measly EVgo chargers malfunction randomly and leave lines of Cadillacs, Nissans, Toyota BZ4X and Chevy Bolts or Volts waiting until they eventually give up and leave. It's really annoying. I won't feel comfortable to drive my Lyriq out of state till v4 Superchargers open up to our CCS cars. Other than that aspect, I love my car.

Few tips from a Chevy Bolt owner since 2018 in PA: 1. You bought the WRONG EV: Audi's has some of the lowest ranges in EV land. Don't buy them. 2. Winter driving: You're probably using heater of full blast: don't... lowers range. 3. Speed: Don't drive 80mph in the winter as you are clearly doing in this video with your heavy foot.. DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT. It lowers range. 4. Get an EV truck: You'll double, maybe triple your range of that Audi, 4 wheel drive, can charge your house, etc. 5. Don't overpay: Even at $82k... you overpaid. I guess your YT channel views means you can afford it, but don't complain about it afterwards, it's not logical.

This a good video. I've been paying great attention to electric vehicles these days to determine if my thoughts about home has changed over the years. Safe to say that I'm still in the same position. Perhaps the best way forward at this time is hybrids. I haven't read up much, or researched hydrogen vehicles. but I don't think that electric is optimal at this point, after all this time. I've also been looking at the cost to repair Teslas, and I'm blown away at the cost to repair if they're damaged in a collision, and the wait time to have your vehicle back. This absolutely crazy Perhaps electric vehicles would work best on small islands, but even then there will be challenges. Good video mate

ABC, always be charging. It also wasn't a 30 percent error. You have to divide by the lower number so it's actually closer to 50 percent error. You compare the real miles to what you actually did, not to the estimated miles. If you used 30 miles of range in 20 miles of actual driving that's usage of 50 percent more than it was planning

For all the people on here that love their EV's .. Wait til it's out of warranty and you start having problems with the battery out anything else. The depreciation is the worst also. This is why you need options and not forced into something. Hydrogen or E fuel would be the best bet.

Craig needs to change name of channel from "Flying Wheels" to "1st World Problems." Craig has gotten so used to high end exotic cars that an Audi A5, a car many people can't afford, is just "OK." New Hampshire is still a relatively rural state, especially the farther north you go. Some states like Massachusetts have more frequent charging stations. Good observations about charging problems and range, and the big hit on depreciation. If Craig only sold 10 year old Hondas and Toyotas however, he likely wouldn't have a channel.

You’re only supposed to charge to 80% and drain to 20% to protect the battery. That means you really self limit the range to 60% of the range. Then, the cold weather knocks the range down further. It’s a complete waste of time.

@@TheRealMrRoyalbecause cell phone batteries are different from EV batteries. What I described is for the majority of ternary battery chemistry. Nickel cobalt manganese. But lithium iron phosphate batteries, which are a newer type of EV battery can be fully charged and discharged, but they have lower energy density and have worse low temperature performance so you need more of them. So that is more weight. But more weight reduces range so it’s a viscious cycle. The only way EVs would make sense would be for smaller lighter cars with smaller batteries that take very little time to charge and have tons of power outlets everywhere. We need huge batteries now because of the lack of charging infrastructure
