Hermitcraft 10: Episode 20 - BIG BUILDING & UPGRADES! Time to make some good progress on the base today and after 20 episodes, it's time to get netherite. #hermitcraft #minecraft
Hermitcraft: “this is such a beautiful mountain, we started this season around it and it really looks fantastic. What should we do with it?” Grian: “blow the whole goddamn thing up.”
21:50 Actually, believe it or not you logging off and on again is what saved your life! The log-in invincibility protected you from the closest explosions. :3
Grian finding the chair and cake from Gem watching Joel do laps around her tower from the Permit form he wrote and thinking it was to watch him build is the funniest thing ever
Wasn’t it Scar who had to do laps around the tower? Btw, it would be really funny if Scar did a “long live the king” to someone or something. For… obvious reasons. (Hint: Scar likes Disney)
15:34 love how the permit office shenanigans has made it back to grian confused 😭 for background, scar needed gem to watch him lap around her lighthouse like 10 times for a permit
I’m a naval architect student, and that big wooden building resembles a shipyard, it can act as a facility that makes boat and ships. Instead of modern kind of ships it can make those older wooden versions.
I really enjoy the idea of Grians base being like, a ship yard. I imagine that factory building could hold a boat thats being hung from the ceiling and being worked on.
1:01 "Some things don't go really well [...]" With THAT red wall, I'd try something like macrotexturing. Think of old Hannah Barbara cartoons and how some objects in the backgrounds were drawn-you'd have a red wall of a building, for example, and only "splotches" of vague white lines that appear to be bricks, so children understood that they were looking at a brick wall (on a budget lol not sure if they cared though). I find that this technique works wonders when it comes to detailing large monochromatic surfaces. Combine that with maybe some oddly placed reddish stairs if you want a "somewhat worn down" appearance (and to help add depth to the build, ofc, in addition to whatever other techniques you might use to add some depth to it). Probs not gonna get seen lol but my brain wanted the idea outside
@@reuben-ym2sb We actually made a youtube Short about it, but I was thinking about making a detailed video about it :) Edited in reference material near the start too, if you just wanna see the examples quickly
Grian finding the chair from the start of the season when Scar had to circle around gems tower is so funny. He's the reason scar built that chair for Gem 😂😂
@@VaryaEQ Report the entire channel, he's got a comment bot but the actual account had CP on it a short while back. He's part of an online CP distribution ring across several accounts and sites.
As a fan of a different Minecraft server (that shall not be named due to how badly it has aged), the sky grid with TNT falling and the flick of a lever with a shovel in hand gave me such a flashback. The destruction of Magic mountain is coming along so well, I can’t see how it eventually transforms into a volcano that will perform many sacrifices. Permit office notices to the permit office manager is gen so funny- the king is realizing revolution is underway.
Hey Grian, a cool idea for the nether portal could be to put it on one of the cranes above the lake, so it looks like it's been pulled out of the lake, and you could sell the idea with some vines and what-not
ooooo what if it's, like, a helicopter or something loading it onto a boat, and a bigger-than-basic portal so it's like an old artefact? then he could have the aesthetic, but keep the height that's needed for it to work without interrupting the mail.
the part at the beginning where grian walks in front of the explosion and gives us a 101 on right and wrong scenarios is some of the nicest editing ive seen in a long time!
@UTubeTrollPoliceMAP Shut up dude, I see you everywhere. You should be in prison right now considering 400+ people have tipped you off to upper law enforcement. Disgusting.
This moment made me want to comment. It's a fantastic window that those of us who watch multiple hermits know about. Seriously, people who just watch Grian and Mumbo, go watch Gem's videos from when the permit auctions were being done
15:34 I like how the antics of the permit office have returned to Grean, leaving people perplexed about the past. Scar required a gem to witness him circle her lighthouse ten times in order to obtain a permit.
Nobody going to read this so I’m just typing this out for me, I have surgery tommorow and genuinely have been so so stressed, but just sitting down and watching this let me breath normally for the first time. Thank you so much for always bringing a smile to my face. This is why I always have and always will love hermitcraft :) >> Edit 2: surgery went as well as it could have, recovery is rough but that is expected. Thank you everyone for the kindness again omg I can’t believe there is still hope in humanity!!
I have a thought! The nether portal just fit so perfectly in the new building... what if it was some kind of salvage yard/dock where workers haul in the artifacts they find in the lake? artifacts such as a ruined portal and a suspicious chicken head perhaps? It could be a Museum of Grian!
15:34 Scar built this for Gem to sit on because he had to fill out that one permit shop paperwork that made him do laps around Gem’s lighthouse while she watches 😂
one of the things i love most about the permit office is how you need to axe the lights, its like blowing dust of an old box that was left in the attic, no care and attention given and almost never used
Grian PLEASE fill that building with water, and build a boat in it, you can even build metal container's on the boat or around the building love the vids man
I think order needs to be reinstated in the shopping district, and I think if grian gets demoted, a vigilante will appear, specifically a certain poultry vigilante
@@Outrider85in this instance it's not calling for war but rather predicting based on multiple previous instances of this very thing happening. (This very thing referring to some random small event triggering a larger story narrative.)
You can turn the building into a boat workshops and have a boat hanging from ratchets inside, and the outside mechanism could be the “lift” for the boat mechanic shop, just extend the water into it You can also put the portal on the boat that's one the lift in the workshop! It would be raised high enough because of the boat lift!
Hey Grian! I hope you are well, i have a suggestion for what could be in the big boat storage type room, I think a winch to pull the boats up in the air for repairs would be cool! + the boat thats in the air could have the portal on it!
I’ve noticed this season that hermits have been showing more of the early stages of building process, the “figuring stuff out phase”, the things that don’t work, the experimentation, and I love it.
Grian, that new barn area should be like a shipwrights building, so the hole in the middle can be full of water and you can build a big sailboat in the water.
15:38 Actually, no! This is YOUR doing (unintentionally)! So, remember back when you made Scar do a bunch of stuff for the Mobs Permit? One of the tasks was to run around Gem's lighthouse a certain number of times while Gem supervised and verified. So Scar set up a little "Lighthouse Laps Viewing Area" for Gem so she could verify he did it.
I build with a LOT of red blocks, and i think netherrack, mangrove planks, and red terracotta go well with striped mangrove logs. The netherrack is goo for shadows, and the terracotta is good for highlights. I hope this is helpful!
My usual go to palette for red builds starts with netherrack, mangrove planks, stripped mangrove logs, and ends with pink terracotta. If you want to end your palette with something brownish- red tone, change the pink terracotta to red terracotta then bricks and add granite to the mix with rooted dirt at the end of the palette. I'll leave that suggestion for you to experiment with, Grian. Have fun and thanks for the content!
I find netherite mining one of the most fun "grinding" activities in the games progression. I always brew fire resistance and night vision potions for it, so it feels pretty safe at that point.
i like when grian isn't sure what the building is gonna be used for but since he'a had a great time building it he's gonna continue, and that he's had such a great time that he told us that twice
15:55 - It's called Pareidolia. Many Hermits on Hermitcraft, and many Hermitcraft enjoyers suffer from that condition. Probably, because instinctively we seek out our own kind with friendly faces. :)
as someone who spent a substantial part of their childhood playing at a truck dock, i immediately recognized that wooden box as an office and felt right at home
The biggest problem with the red, in my opinion, is the clash of textures. The concrete is pretty much textureless so it looks VERY jarring next to the bricks.
that factory building is giving me like a shipyard vibe, so you can build a old wooden ship that is like being repaired or smth and then put your nether portal on the ship so it wont interfere with the postal system
I know the other episode is already out and there may be something in the dock but I think you should store a simple fishing boat in the dock, and then hide something under the water like another temple or something. Or maybe you could add hidden "high tech" stuff like a submarine, though it doesn't really go with the rest of theme unless its a secret advanced society living among a simple fishermen town.
I like the idea of 1 hour videos; to me it seems like we as a community are getting more content more frequently, and Grian gets to spend less time editing the videos, so he has more time (for himself or for Hermitcraft)
