appreciation comment for etho's editing choices. everyone knows he could just dump like 8 hours of unedited run footage and people would watch but I'm already noticing that the cuts are such a good balance between minimal interruption and eliminating dead time

I love the in-between run clips; they're just such a nice break in tension and enjoyable to see the hermits hang out

Etho and Gem are quickly becoming one of my favorite interactions

honestly the best part of these episodes are the little interactions between etho and the hermits. unscripted, unfiltered reminders of the collaborative nature of the server (and any server, actually) is always great

I like how he calls out cards and mob behaviors BEFORE they happen like he's a Shonen protagonist calling out attacks.

Etho's composure is wild - you can tell he is nervous towards the end of runs because his mouse movement is really shaky, but he still manages to focus up and get out

The entire clip of everyone killing you for taking too long, then discussing the vote, and scaring bdubs was SO delightful.

I love that jump boost is active at 2:06:45 because it makes Bdubs reaction even better.

I always love how Tango is simultaneously rooting for the hermits and their imminent downfall. 😂

I love the unacknowledged absurdity of Hermitcraft. Etho excitedly exclaims 'Cub just walked out with a Skadoodler' and most of us are probably like 'Oh *damn*!'

Nice of etho to take it easy on the rest of the hermits at the end there. It’s getting pretty obvious that he could have unlimited runs if he wanted. He’s built for a skill based deck building game like this one. If he learns the positions of the shriekers, which he’s absolutely capable of, he’ll be unstoppable

I was a bit confused by Nimble Looting, but then the run during 2:10:50 gave a good demonstration. Every time Etho blocks clank (the tip toe sound plays) he gains +2 treasure. This will continue until he runs out of clank block and generates actual clank. With the right deck it can last a very long time. Etho activated Nimble looting on level 3 and it's still active as he escapes the dungeon.

46:15 Etho is on a whole different level. Run 5 abruptly becomes a speed run and he's just playing "Dances with Ravagers" like it's nothing.

level 3 really is fully a horror game, it's so terrifying with the wardens groaning and the flickering darkness 😭 tango did such a great job designing it/all of decked out

On the one hand, I know its just a parasocial relationship. Etho doesnt know most of us as individuals, and it can be disarming how personal it is listening to someone for hours. For days. For years. But your content is relaxing and peaceful. Its comedy, and its enjoyable. I think youre awesome, Etho. I choose to listen to these videos when news about the real world overwhelms me.

They way the dungeon just gets out of the way and helps Etho is so amazing, "I'm starting to panic, don't worry Etho here is a key" Ravagers are liquid in his presence, the man can get pincered by 2 ravagers and just slip right out. All of these are skills, Etho is truly masterful! it will be a pleasure to watch the 3 hours over the cause of the week.

A good strategy to optimise your crowns could be to load up on Tactical Approach cards, that way you always enter the dungeon with 4 clank block, which allows you to go faster in the beginning, and also provides better value to cards like Nimble Looting, if they're played earlier (or before other clank block cards).

If you have so many crowns, it would be funny to just start storing up a ton of Dungeon Lackey runs with Tango. If you start now, you might be able to get enough to bring him along on every single run in a later phase.

im so happy to see someone buy the more situational cards sprint/second wind/nibble looting. Second wind definetatly saved etho a few berries and like 40s of regen + gave him speed to dodge. Seriously underrated card.

1:34:11 I also agree that Nimble Looting is a great card, however it really needs a deck and playstyle tailored to it, for it to truly shine. With no additional clank blocking allowing it to chain, it provides 4 treasure and 1 clank block, which isn't _that_ bad. Getting it to chain for as long as possible requires either massive amounts of clank block, or sneak a lot when you're low on clank block, or some combination of the two. Also, I believe multiple Nimble Lootings played will cause the effect to stack, however I would verify with Tango and not rely on random RU-vid comments. Also, make sure to notify Tango that Nimble Looting didn't provide the original +2 treasure or the +1 clank block, there are many of the more complex cards that probably should have had more QA/QC. edit: that said, given that the current meta is to sneak in level 3, you build up a lot of clank block down there, so if a Nimble Looting is drawn before then, it'll generate a ton of treasure on your way out, as done in your last two runs.

The nimble looting was crazy at 1:55:23!

You're absolutely right about the 2x quickdraw card being garbage, haha. Tango brought up TCGs like Magic the Gathering when you mentioned it to him, but the main difference with Decked Out is *you're not playing against another player!* - In MTG, Pokemon TCG, or even the Hermitcraft TCG, card draw is key because it gives you a massive advantage over your opponent. They're essentially a race for power, and once you've overpowered your opponent, you're pretty likely to win the game. - With Decked Out however, it's almost the inverse - you're essentially racing against a static timer, in a way - as in, the amount of clank/hazard block cards in your deck, combined with how sneakily/recklessly you navigate the dungeon (and also a bit of luck). Every single card in your deck equates to some kind of power benefit in the dungeon; either gaining more loot, or blocking more danger - which is more or less the same as 'extending the timer' for how long you can safely stay in the dungeon. Adding a card to your deck that only has Quickdraw means that you're either losing out on 1/40 potential sources of loot (treasure or embers), or you're cutting your run shorter by losing 1/40 potential sources of danger avoidance (hazard / clank block, speed boost / regen, etc.) Of course, this changes a little if you're also running the Speed Runner card, since getting an early Quickdraw could greatly increase your chances of finding keys & blocking enough clank to let you sprint constantly - but the jury's still out on whether Speed Runner is also garbage haha... (I kinda feel like both of these cards are gonna get a buff eventually, but I guess we'll see!)

Hey Etho, I don't know if any hermits have tentative plans on what they do in the next season, but I think teaming up with Tango on some projects would be really fun. I know he will want to do more collab stuff after a year of building Decked Out alone underground.

2:03:27 If anyone's confused as to why Etho thinks this was a bad deal, Bdubs basically saved Gem some time since she doesn't have to wait for shop reset and he got pretty much nothing in return except for the fact that now he's the one that needs to get the shards from the shop instead lol. I think 2 extra crowns was probably the minimum for it to be considered a "trade" for Bdubs at all, 3 or 4 would've still been an okay deal for Gem I think and a really good deal for Bdubs. TLDR; Bdoubleswindled (rip Thread Lightly).
