I like how you frame it all. Hearing the call of Hadestown is a metaphor for straight up dying. You could interpret it as Eurydice litterally dying right there and Hades is simply reaping her soul.
A very creative process of storytelling. I particularly like the way Hades is always has his back against the light, casting shadows over Eurydice & himself. Its a nice visual link to "flowers" -"someone by my side turned his face to mine, and then I turned away into the shade".
I audibly gasped when i saw this on my youtube HELL YES Time for stream of consciousness comment : Oh gosh the scent of death around Eurydicie, from her laying down on the ground at the start (id never pictured it like that but yeah she's basically dying of hunger at that point), to the lowkey threatening aura around hades as the feathers/leaves turn black and he casts a shadow in the shape of a casket around her (the whole time his shadow has interesting shapes, from buildings to show his power to the workers rioting) it's so messed up and beautiful at the same time. He seems both powerful, threatening but also compassionate at the same time (giving her his coat, his look at the end when we see his eyes?), he really seems like the only person reaching out his hand to her (the detail of Hades passing his hand over lovers' names carved on trees is really cool). i also love the moments of colour, flash of brightness in her memory before it's ripped away, how she's holding onto her memories of Orpheus when Hades says "you've got nothing to lose" and OF COURSE my favourite moment (both in song and in this animatic) "weren't we birds of a feather" AAAAH THE PAIN. AND ORPHEUS TURNING HIS BACK TO HER AT THE END THERE?? AAAAAH
OMG!!! I LOVED how you used shading and shadows in this one!! The workers in hades’ shadow, and especially the coffin cast over eurydice were super cool touches!! I also felt like your art style was more cohesive and shape-y in this one, and it’s awesome to see you improve to even greater heights with each animatic!! The ending bit was probably my favorite part... the black slowly encroaching in from behind him was cool but i loved how you used the shading to make him more imposing and then revealed his eyes at the very end!! This was super cool!!!!!
@@sealbatross Yeah I noticed that it was to reveal the empathy + stuff but didn't think about the hidden behind the wall bit, and that makes it 100% cooler! I don't usually see people putting symbolism in their animatics, let alone dynamic shots + shot composition, so yours are always super cool and really stand out!
Adam and eve, Romeo and Juliet, Hades and Persephone and then Orpheus and Eurydice are the carvings in the tree I'm guessing? I love that Hades' hands perfectly match the scratches running through his heart and into theirs

I don't know if someone else has commented this, but I love that you draw Hades' inhales/breathing at 0:46 and 0:57 , they make him so much more lively (deadly? lol). I also love the figures in his shadows at 0:44 ! This is masterfully done and I love it

I love all the little details in this! The giving her his coat is honestly something I did a double take about because _SOMEONE USED THAT VISUAL AAAAAA!_ Also Hades being in the background with a literal B| face in a few panels was just very, very good.
You've knocked it out of the park again! Your past animatics have had such great senses of movement and action, and you've kept that going even with the slower song. I'd say the sense of movement is even better here! I love all the little details as well, the cuts to Orpheus, Hades' shadow as the hadestown workers and a coffin, the moment at the end when you finally see his eyes. And I love your use of color!! That burst of yellow and red as eurydice remembers Orpheus is so powerful and evocative. And the end when Orpheus turns away back to his song got me like 😢!! Great work as always!!!!!
This is so awesome! I love how Hades's shadow turns into the walls, the workers, and the coffin. It's such a great touch and it really makes me wish there was a full animated version for moments like that.

He does, for the briefest of miliseconds but ultimately he's grinning and carefree, tryna play it off as if he couldn't care less, as if these things are *beneath* him, as if they can't touch him. He needs to present himself as a God, as The Wealthy One in order to entice Eurydice into taking his deal.
