@Arlo the "Berries" attack names are a reference to his favorite made up Magical Girl Anime. The Berry types are the names of the characters if that helps a little XD

The berry thing is a combo marker, every 10 hits he yells it I'm pretty sure the fake anime in-game that he watches has characters named off of berries, I forgot

After playing nmh 1 I have "Strawberry on the shortcake!" forever stuck in my head

The suit is new, but he had a giant mech called Glastonberry in the second game but had it taken away because it was too big for public use lol

Never played a game in this franchise, but "the protagonist yells too many berry names" is the best criticism I've ever heard about a video game.

No Mores Heroes is one of those franchises where you love it despite the flaws Man, it's on the same league as Yakuza in terms of a unique story matched with slick gameplay

As a fan of the No More Heroes games, I have to say that Arlo nailed the spirit as "auteur energy". That's exactly the feeling of the game - it's an arty project hidden in a commercial piece; but in reality it's closer to Katamari Damashi in weirdness.

I want to play this but I very much plan to do the first two games before getting to III. It’s nice that it’s good either way.

No More Heroes 3 is to me a perfect fusion of all the previous entries and that's why I encourage you to play the first two games as well. Travis Strikes Again is also great but it's way different than the rest and in a certain way now that I think about it, you may end up liking it the most. 🤔

I personally absolutely loved this game. I am a diehard SUDA51 fan and it was really cool hearing what you thought of it as someone who hasn't played any other SUDA51 games. And yes you should check NMH 1 and 2.

Just got the game and started playing it, And I'm glad to say that this game is sick af. The visual and style make the gameplay feels so good it's incredible, I'm not far in yet but from a first glance, it looks like a massive step up from the first 3 games.

I think this vid just convinced me to give the series a shot, Arlo! Always thought it looked cool, but never pulled the trigger. Gonna start with the first game and make my way up! Hopefully the third will be cheaper by the time I get to it.

2 hours in myself, and this game pulls so much from Travis Strikes Again, it reminds me of the relationship between Twin Peaks: The Return and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Definitely don't sleep on TSA if you want to get all up in the guts of this franchise.

We should feel lucky to have a dev like Suda 51 with a gaming brand on it's third installment. They make some of best weird action games out there, and that goes beyond "hey, weird Japanese stuff." Never leave us Suda 51.

Almost every negative brought up by Arlo was something the people who followed the series learned to tolerate during the 1st and 2nd game. Trust me Arlo we feel you, but the series is just so dang good and fun, it's totally worth it

When this game was announced I was curious. I was curious about the series as a whole for quite a while but never had the chance to play them. When the first two games were released on Switch as digital, I knew the time had come for me to jump into the series. So now I have all 3 games on my Switch, ready to be played and looking forward to it.

I'm picking it up when I get off work tomorrow! Looking forward to it. Really enjoy their action games & unique/weird style.

i never would have expected arlo to make a video about a No More Heroes game thats awesome! For those of you who haven't played a game in the series i think you'll like it. I still remember playing the first two games with my brother when they first came out and having a blast! Check them out!

Arlo in No More Heroes 1 and 2 Travis Favorite Anime Series and Video game that he can actually watch and play on his TV at his apartment the characters are all named after Berries ! Yes he basically shouts his favorite Anime Girl Waifu names as Attack Moves thats where it comes from.

I agree with Arlo. Never played these games, but they always struck me as something that the developers really loved to make. You can tell they had a lot of fun with it, and that makes me happy.

I'm amazed at how chaotic and random the presentation of this game is but it all feels so cohesive and well put together. But I'm a big fan of No more heroes one and two so maybe I'm biased

I loved NMH2 on the Wii! It's such a fun and silly game. The main character is enough for me to love it.

So pumped 3 is finally out! Just beat the first boss, 2 hours flew by! If you haven't played this series yet you should get them all (Travis Strikes Again also, although a little repetitive).

Don't worry Arlo, I've played both main series games and still had plenty to be confused about; for example: why is Bishop the video store dude alive? Brother was very, VERY dead in NMH 2. Anyway glad you enjoyed. 1 and 2 are very much worth playing! Travis Strikes Again I didn't play much of but I do think it has some cool concepts in there.

If anyone wants to catch up to the story, play 1 then travis strikes again. 2 is not directed by suda and is pretty much all but denounced by suda himself.

If you like this all the way through, I really recommend the first one; a lot of things you're saying about 3 apply there, too. I'm currently going back and playing 2, and digging it so far, so playing that would be a good choice, too.

The chapter intros and credits are based on the old style of ultraman, even some items are named after ultraman characters.

It sounds like the first No More Heroes. I LOVED THE FIRST NO MORE HEROES. Thanks Arlo, I was gonna pass this one because the second game was sad, but now I am all into buying the game.

So the reason why Travis shouts berries: from the beginning of the series Travis just names his moves after ice cream flavors. And he shouts them like an anime character. Why? Because he's an absolute dork! No other real reason that I can remember!

So I just watched a video talking about the game awards 2019 and there was a trailer for this game in it and the trailer completely baffled me so I looked it up only to find a crap ton of reviews from just 4 hours ago.

Fell in love with the series back when I played the first one on the wii. It recieved no fanfare and absolutely nobody was talking about it, but when I saw Suta 51s name on the box, that was good enough for me. Rented it from the ye oldie Blockbuster, took it home, played it, and I loved it from Travis' first spoken line in the game... which was him yelling "Fuck head!" after decapitating a body guard. Good times.

Oh boy, you've got a LOT to learn about the No More Heroes series. The more you learn, the better the experience is going to be for you. And yes, you should play the previous games there is a LOT of story you're missing out on.

If you liked NMH3 then you should check out the other two games Arlo, they both have colorful casts of characters to fight and interact with and have a genuinely nice feel and aesthetic to them.

He named his beam katana Blood Berry based off of his favorite anime, Pure White Lover Bizarre Jelly, which is apparently a fictional anime in the No More Heroes universe. It stars 3 scantily clad school girls fighting giant monsters in mechs....and the name of the characters are Strawberry, Blueberry, and Cranberry. Hence, why he yells their names out as he finishes off people with the blood berry...Yeah, its weird but on brand since there's a lot of references about him being an otaku.

Loving the heck out of this game.

SUDA51 is a VG auteur like Kojima but without the pretension. The first NMH is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

You should definitely play the first two. They are really great games.

Recently I've been playing a lot of games that just don't run well on the Switch but are still pure fun. Makes me nostalgic for the GameCube era, where it felt gameplay was almost always prioritized as the game itself was never going to look utterly fantastic or anything.

NMH3 made me stop playing board games for the first time in almost a year. The intro of the game was really something else. I have, so far, enjoyed it very, very much so far!

Glad you liked it Arlo, plan on purchasing it soon. I only played the orginal myself. I adored the character's personality and the nerdy references.

Now if only he did this for Xenoblade

If you enjoyed this game go back and play the first. The first game was so much fun. It’s everything you described this one as applies there too. The tournament has so many twists and turns especially the final two bosses.

Definarely play the others. The first game and Travis Strikes again have some pretty interesting nuances in their writing (can't speak for this game yet) and II is all around a good time.

The first two games are good. I haven't played Travis Strikes Again, but I read that it appeals more to hardcore fans and is just as essential to the story of NMH3.
