There were also possible DLC leaks for a few dozen more Mobile Suits, including the TV versions of Deathscythe and Heavyarms, Master and Spiegel, the Eclipse, F-90 in various forms, and a bunch more!

I think the point of the powered up Zaku II and GM is that they are "sleeper" suits (like sleeper cars). They are using an old or budget chassis, but are completed modern and powerful under the hood so that you don't take it seriously until it's lapping you.
I think I'm one of the few fans who is UBER hyped from the G-Self 1.5. The original kit did have weak articulation but the sculpt was the far more pressing issue imo and this 1.5 fixed every last issue. It's flawless and I want two!
2:00 Didn't Neo Zeon do a similar internal overhaul to older MS in Double Zeta? Those mobile suits were able to keep up with AEUGs top suits. I imagine the engineers behind the project for those machines and these are just THAT proud of their work.

There's a whole faction in F90, circa 0120, that fields almost exclusively upgraded OYW Zeon suits. I forget how upgraded they were stated to be. They were relevant against Messers and F90s, though.

Wow, that was interesting. Old mobile suits coming back with new upgraded tech. Both the GM and Zaku II. It's like SEED Freedom's Type/Spec II. When I saw those two, I was thinking they might be like Zeon Remnants with just old MS maintained.
Seed Freedom takes place only a year after the end of Seed Destiny. The Strike Freedom, the Infinite Justice, and the Impulse were not that old by that time. Silver Phantom has these souped-up GMs and Zaku IIs fighting _seventeen years_ after their rollout.
The upgraded suits make sense to me. Porsche 911, Volkswagen beatles, nearly unchanged designs that can be bought new with modern performance or in the case of older models can be resto-modded to keep up with modern machines
Perhaps the new designs aren’t meant to replace the ogs Similar to the freedom and strike freedom, even though the sf is superior, it’s unique enough that the og freedom is just fine I guess they kind of feel more like variants than replacements
the only thing that current 911 share with the original one is that they're both air cooled rear engine cars. And i'm not entirely sure that modern 911 are still air cooled.
If they've been overhauled that much than they are no longer stock Zaku 2 and GM. They are replicas. Look like the original but totally different on the inside. I have no problem with that but just own that fact.

The Silver Phantom and GSelf kit will be an intsa buy for me and that MG Astraea kit is tempting but the $70 price while still using that old base Exia MG is a bit tough.
2:14 - The F-22 Raptor is currently 27 years old, and the F-15 Eagle is 54 years old. These fighter jets have both gone through upgrades that keep them as top their in their field. Imagine getting washed by a OYW veteran in custom GM, and you're in a base model Geara Doga 😂. I'd be scared and pissed at the same time.

I'm hoping the release of the Delta Zayin will spark some more love for the Delta Gundam and we get something like a conversion kit or a 3rd party kit for either the DZ or the Delta Gundam.
The tuned up Zaku and GM might be just corpo speak. It wasn't the first time that it was claimed that a retuned machine is basically the latest model wearing an old model armor. Like the Zaku II-RII was claimed to be a Gelgoog in a Zaku skin, but the fact was the R2 still only saw a limited run and didn't even have a generator to operate beam weapons. Even the guy who made it famous decided to go with a Gelgoog in the end.
basing the designs off model kits gives me the vibe that the producers were trying to play it safe with the designs and lore. Like they didn't really care too much about the spirit of the lore, just that the details are "technically" accurate.
Speaking of the ReGZ in Unicorn, is there a source anywhere that states who the pilot is for the suit? The only pilots we ever see for the Ra Cailum are the Federation Tri Stars that I recall. Wonder if it is just a symbolic unit that is assigned to Bright at his request despite never actually piloting it.
I think the explanation for the GM and Zaku in Silver Phantom would have been better if they instead went with "these are Jegans and Jagd Dogas internally". There's a precedent for it in Zeta Gundam, where they took a Nemo and turned it into a Gelgoog.

Is there any clarity as to whether the Metal Robot Spirits G-Self Perfect Pack is just the pack (as an add-on) or if it's the full G-Self with the pack? I can't find anything and you, of course, don't say anything in particular about it.
Maybe you should have bided your time for the All-Japan Hobby & Model Show... The Gunpla front may not be much, but we got better looks at lots of things, like the Delta Zayin, RG Shiranui Pack and Zeus Silhouette adapter, and especially the -Katsura's- Z'GOK with its Justice-hiding gimmick.

If the main internals like the engine, cockpit, ect and the armor were reinforced with whatever the hell they are using in later UC, what's the issue with it looking like a GM or Zaku II? If you swap out all the things making the suit inferior will all the things making new suits superior, why would it be worse overall than other new suits?

the silver gm and zaku is the at home version of the Mars Zeons RF suits, which we effectively Geara Doga with quality of life updates for the UC 120's but with armor that made it look like classic zeon MS. It makes less sense to overhaul the old internals so much that they manage to bring them up to par to high end MP suits from 0093, rather than using a newer base and just making it look classic. This is all just fluff to make an excuse to show the classic MS for brand image sake and more recolors for model kits.
Aren't both the zaku and GM Origin timeline ver, so why the heck are they in the main UC timeline or where they are just lazy and added them in the VR game.
Well, I would politely disagree with you about upgrading machines to be on par with modern machines. I'm pretty sure it could be possible to do what they said they did with those old MS in Silver Phantom, because you can do it with cars. You can take an old car and put it on par with a modern one (except EVs, 'cuz internal combustion engines don't work like EV motors do). HOWEVER, to do such a thing, you need to have a budget SO high, that for a military organization, it would make no sense. It's just crazy fanboyz -with more money that they know what to do with it- that do that to their cars. For exemple, late Ken Block's Hoonigan Mustang or Vaughn Gittin Jr's '69 Mustang RTR-X.
As for silver phantom... Kids, this is what happenes when writers can't use their brains. You are writing about war machines, and you never stop to think how much it would cost "in-world" money. Those machines are far more expensive than new, modern machines

I really wonder why they haven't done a 2.0 MG Exia after all this time. The new 00 MG's make the current one look almost like a knock off with its proportions, especially the clown-sized shoes and stubby-looking thighs.
