One method of surviving for long periods is to hibernate. This involves passing time and maximizing your resources. Sounds easy, but it requires managing food, water, matches, fire and sleep. If you are in one region only, then it becomes complicated because of cabin fever: You need to be outside long enough for the cabin fever to go away, but without a bedroll and very warm clothing, options are limited. That's pretty good 👍 keep on trying and you'll make it to 500, my record is 221 days or something like that, but I got bored and tried to dance with a bear and died 🤣 So now on my current run I'm on day 125

I'm almost up to 100 thanks to Zak, and I credit him for all the help. I'm working my way up to the Technical Backpack on day 90+ and it's nuts. I'm also really getting good with bow kills, it has saved my life so many times if I position myself right when wolves charge.

@@SamusV4 That's amazing 👍 the backpack is a game changer XD if I spawn in AC or TWM I always try to get the backpack & summit early. But it doesn't work all the time.

I once got into a pilgrim run just to use this tactic to get the badge of efficient machine and the blizzard one (and another one, I think). I spawned at timberwolf mountain and went straight to the summit. With the starvation tactic, I was able to survive for more the 300 days by just staying in the plane, I was pretty impressed by the results lol

Hibernation is the easiest way to get through the Nomad Challenge. Get to your next location, gather loot, sleep for three days, and move on.

One really big change I noticed with wolves and bears that is really abusable: you're basically invisible or turn invisible while near a campfire, on terrain they can't path into, and while in the air, like even the very shortest falls. Wolves in particular are very easy to deal with now. When you start getting stalked, just find some ledge then "jump" to lower ground or some part they can't access, or even a really steep slope and walk along the sides of the slope to the steep part. You will suddenly disappear from their radar. And if you want to scare them away, do the same but before you go to the parts they can't path to, aim to have them charge. While they're charging, go to the part they can't path to. They start growling, then aim to scare them away. For timberwolves, it applies too, except as soon as you leave and they can path to you again, they start charging again. It also applies to aurora wolves, except stones and simply aiming doesn't scare them once they start growling. You'd need to shoot an arrow near their feet if you don't want to kill them and you just want to scare them off. Once, the bear in Miner's Retreat just suddenly spawned behind me when I was walking past his "cave" and did his pre-charge animation. Good thing was there is a steep slope in the cave. I made a run for it and walked to the steepest part and he just started running away scared.

Almost up to day 100 thanks to your tips, Zak. Thanks for the advice! Interloper is really fun once you get a handle on it and figure things out! I just learned about how the outdoor fire bonus works too and can make my fires stretch REALLY long and cook a lot more than usual. Thanks!!

I've also never had wolves bother me in burned ridge cave but I did wake up to a bear once that immediately attacked me inside the cave. I had meat in my inventory.

Was trying to figure out new challanges for the channel. I proposed way back a caveman challange but even on Stalker this is too hard for mem, I tried several times. But sth in the likes of Magloper would be interesting, as in interloper, but you are only allowed to start fires with a mag lenz, light version as in matches and flare for wolf-defense only.

Died to a wolf during a blizzard my last playthrough. It got me as I crested the top of a hill with no warning, just Boom there it is on top of me. The shock from the suddeness of it is what killed me, if I would have reacted faster during the fight for your life I may have survived.

Wolves seem to immediately attack during blizzards if they see you. I’ve died this way as well. Now I have a flare at the ready during blizzards especially when carrying meat.

I think this has happened at least once to all avid TLD survival players. That's why I am always ALWAYS wary when cresting elevated parts. Zone of Contamination is also dangerous since a lot of the open parts are actually full of uneven ground which I bet was designed on purpose to hide wolves.

I don't really see the use of playing this way except for maybe in a challenge game. I mean, what's the point of just being in a game to add up days? It seems really boring to me. But that's just my opinion. It's just not how or why I play TLD.

interesting strategy ... scurvy maybe changed the game a bit here. But, who drinks more than 2 Liters a day? I know I have a job where you can rarely drink (I come along with 0.3 or so over the working hours) but I also can´t drink more than 1 Liter in the evening. When I play a longer session she definitely drinks more than I do 😂(gaming really doesn't help here). Interesting...

i REALLY wish the devs would make it to where you could just throw a torch into the fire as firewood. all the torch is, is a stick that we'd have to assume we wrapped some cloth around. when the torch material no longer burns, there's no need to "harvest" material for firewood. it's just a stick with some burned cloth on it. it's firewood already! no one would dismantle a torch irl because there's nothing to dismantle. good grief!
