Great video Happy St Patrick's Day...you and Sue should have a walking stick to help with maneuvering through the grass so you guys are more stable on your feet.
Ireland 🇮🇪 is always clothed in every shade of green! So Lovely 😊 How sad that so many died all at once. Don’t you drown, going in there! So old it’s Amazing to see such history. Thank you for showing this to us and, of course: Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ 😊💚☘️
Love the hidden cemeteries like this! Coincidentally there was a U.S. Steamer called 'The Pomona' that sank in 1908 of all days on March 17th!! Anyway; thanks for bringing this shipwreck to my attention-Happy St. Pat's;)
Such an arduous journey you take to show us more history, it is much appreciated. Ireland has such an interesting history. To think those markers have seen the turn of so many centuries as they stood against the blue skies.
So sorry you got so wet and then seeing those extraordinary animals. Another incredible journey that nobody could have predicted. Terrible about that sinking ship. Great video. HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY TO IRELAND.
Beautiful area. So much history. Thanks for walking thru that tall grass, traversing big puddles, and being rained on to show us this graveyard! Congratulations on 32k subs🎉
Peaceful little cemetery, it definitely needs some TLC. May the victims of the sinking rest in peace 🙏 happy St.Patrick's day GV and Sue. Great video, thank you very much.
Love this, it’s beautiful. Walking sticks or trekking poles would help on the really uneven ground. This is another one where I think that someone should put a flock of sheep in for a few weeks to clean up the grass.
Thank you GV for showing us this amazing old graveyard 🪦 and telling the history! You & Serenity Sue truly go above and beyond to make this wonderful one of a kind videos for us to enjoy! Thank you and God Bless! ♥️🇨🇦🇮🇪♥️
Aww bless you all, don't fret about this graveyard. You must understand that many of the dearly departed here have nobody left to care for them except Mother Nature. She will gently and carefully welcome them in to her arms and take bestest care of them. Who needs mown lawns and topiary bushes when Mother Nature is your sentinel? 😊 ❤
Hi GV Steve from England. Happy Patrick day. That grave yard looks quite interesting. It's a shame that it been forgotten about. There was some marvellous headstones. Another interesting video GV.
Bless you GV no need to apologise about your breathing we all appreciate all your efforts to bring us these wonderful video's and again this was brilliant..❤❤❤
Well, isn't that the green of old Ireland! Beautiful old cemetery Cathal; I loved that deep green grass although that is the kind that you might step in and twist an ankle or worst yet break your leg! I just trip over my dogs. All my best to you, Sue, and the family! I will be in touch soon. ♥️☘️♥️☘️♥️☘️
It is sad that there is so much tall grass obscuring the history of the dearly departed. I wonder if there would be a few trained people who could volunteer to tidy up the graveyard. If anyone else did visit or wanted to visit it would be very challenging
very nice video, too bad that nearly all the stones are overgrown, RIP to all victims of the Pomoda 🙏 stay safe greetings and love from Holland I love your channel
Thanks for the great video. I love the history and beauty of this graveyard. I think they should get some goats 🐐 in there to eat down that overgrowth. Happy St. Patrick's day to you and your family 💚
That's a tragic story. I think of all those souls with their lives ahead of them, traveling with uncertainty to a new land to only meet a terrible fate. I couldn't imagine crossing the ocean on one of those old ships during that Era.. I think about my ancestors, and how they traveled from Scotland, and some of them making trips back and forth for their business in horse trading. And one of my great grandfathers on my dads side traveled from Germany in 1867. That trip was 28 days..we got it good in this day n age
Thanks for wading threw that small lake to bring us to this graveyard. Small but not forgotten for the most part and old headstones that you could still read. Tragic about the loss of life on the ill fated Pomona who had high expectations to begin a new life in America. Such a shame. Ok my friend thanks for the adventure and see you on the next one, God bless.
Fascinating old graveyard! But sad it is not cared of, everything is grown. How there is already so green everywhere and birds are singing! I am jealous😅 Here in Finland is still snow and cold☃️ Best wishes, I love your channel and Ireland!💕
hi guys i am catchin up on all your intrestin videos.had wear gloves on your round tho you never know wat your goin to pick up.love watchin these. and thank you from uk...
The state of the graveyard is really heartbreaking but I guess the old ones take volunteers to clean and keep up. More graveyards than volunteers I imagine.
Happy St Patrick's Day GV & family. I returned from our Parade here in Toronto Canada & just now got notification that you dropped this vid. Thank you so very much for doing what you do & sharing it with us.
Hi GV you and sue really do a fantastic job love you Both for sharing what you both do it is so amazing what you you do loveing it bless you both bless you both take care ❤ 👍
Alexander was born in Banffshire and served aboard the Barbara Cowie which had been converted to minesweeping duties. Apparently he took ill at sea and was taken ashore where he died. The cause of death was given as drowned due to boat upsetting.
I’ve been watching you and Serenity Sue from Sugar Land, Texas. I have loved seeing all these beautiful stones and mausoleums and crypts. The history is remarkable. Learning which stones is best for a headstone when our times come. God bless you all. May God have mercy on all these souls. Momento Mori.
Cathal great video, and thank you so much for sharing. A little word to the wise. Be careful of those Talbot, graves, sites. You never know, it might be a Wolf man in them.😅😅
Such beautiful carvings on these old gravestones. A lot of work must have gone into them. I would be so tempted to mow the overgrowth in some of these graveyards out of respect for the people buried there. It makes me sad to see these neglected.
The little village liked sweet, So very sad to see this cemetery grown-up Know one cares enough to try to help clean the grounds and head stones Very sad😢 thank you for sharing this video God bless y'all i enjoy all your videos you & sue share 😊 ❤❤
The hourglass is a symbol that the person died of old age. The anchor symbol is often used for a sailor, of course, but it's also a symbol of Christ ("Jesus is my anchor" type of thing).
Do you ever see the passage of time here. All of the frost heave and rocky ground. You need a crew of rock breakers to dig a grave. If anything, there should be an interpretative plaque in front of that mass grave. The place looks like a real ankle breaker.
It always surprises me why people in the past did not completely chisel names into the stones. A stonemason knew how big the letters were and could easily calculate how many letters could be on a line. In my opinion, it is not very nice for the surviving relatives who had to pay a lot of money to see their memory on a gravestone. As for the one you pronounced Anaftafia, it is definitely Anastasia. Although I don't like the choice to display such an s. It has to do with the old writing style of the S.
