Mark mate!! Love this.. as ever!! But the V4 was a recorded moment in my life when I thought.. wow that is off the chart - I put this as a holy grail!! (Ever changeable holy grail but as I say marks a time in my life)!! This is not a comprise but maybe an enhanced version of a watch that I adored!! So yes sir.. a hidden gem!! Never heard of it!! Cheers and I’m off shopping now ha ha
Another great video. Not sure if it's right for this series, but a watch question I can't get answered is who first used the triple calendar design, like that seen in Vacheron's current Historiques Triple Calendrier, day/month under 12 with date around the perimeter. I think it goes back to pocketwatches of the 19th century, but would really like to know what the earliest known example is.
I do not know about pocket watches, but the style in wrist watches really comes from the Vacheron Constantin in 1942. Rolex and other quickly picked up the style and was a big hit for a decade or two. It has come back with JLC and Vacheron both using the design again. Hope that helps -Mark
It was actually right hand for pushers and left hand was the crown due to the modular chronograph movement being put in backwards so they pointed in opposite directions -Mark
