This will show you how to activate the rear camera on the Honda CRV I-MID without using reverse. This should work on any non-GPS honda 2013-2016 (or later maybe)
Battery went dead and after jump start, no camera, no mileage info appeared on display. The fix was to remove negative battery cable for a few minutes. Reinstall the negative cable and the system did an automatic 'hard' reset to program. All works as original again.
Does not ' work on my 2013 CRV EX-L. When actuated as described in this video, all I can see is the yellow grid outlined as the camera would display. I do not get the camera view at all. Someone said "why would you want to turn the camera on when driving in the first place?" My reason would be this, I once got a road rage stalker follow me around for miles trying to intimidate me. I called the police on my cell phone as I drove around and gave the dispatch play by play route instructions that I was taking and the situation with the road rage car following me. Know what the dispatcher said to me? They could not dispatch a police car to help me because I was still moving around street to street.And asked me to pull over so a police car could find me. Yeah! That's just what I wanted to do with a nut job following me. Back to the camera, I wish I could have turned on the backup camera and at least got the cars license plate. So there you have it. I am going to a garage tomorrow to see if they can wire in an on and off switch for my camera. If they do, I will leave a response here for others to see.
It is pretty easy to get a camera to monitor the rear of the car all the time. Get one of those dashcams that looks like a rearview mirror (approximately $60 ) . Install it over your existing mirror with the elastic rubber. These dashcams also come with a second camera unit to be installed as a reverse camera. This second camera is supposed to be wired through the reverse gear shift lever switching it to 12v supply. Here is where you change the plan. Instead the gear lever use a 12V on off switch (around 2 to 3 $) and wire it to the car 12 v supply. This way, you have a dash cam and in an emergency situation flip the switch to on and the rear camera display remains on the mirror display. I am pretty sure you can record it too.
I can tell some drivers get intimidated when they see the rear view camera activated specialy when they are tailgating at the stop light and also helpful if your driving a manual car and live in a hilly area
Just attach a mobile phone dash holder on dash, with the camera of the phone facing the road ahead. The top half of the video will record the front of the road while the bottom half records the rear of the car. No need to buy a separate dash cam for front and rear. Plus it records all the sounds inside too, and also its instantly available when you need to show evidence.
Ant idea how 2 activate. Turn on the alarm mines a 2013 civic ex with navigation premium sound system etc can't figure out how to turn on car alarm I lock it but no sound or lights?
thanks man it works, quick question on my crv and in your's as well theirs a red dot on the bottom left corner of the screen , does this mean its recording? It does not do that when it comes on normally when the car is in reverse.
Same here, 2012 CR-V Give option to adjust the guidelines but background is all black. I ha ve touchscreen Nav this is the screen that the camera normaly shows.
@@pcclemail I've not looked further since finding this answer but was told that it's because the navigation. But it doesn't make total sense in my mind, Then again... the video shows that model with just the one display from what I could tell. I'm going to look into it elsewhere. If I find anything, I'll let you know.
Hi H, I have recently changed the switch on my 2012 CRV and when I press the source button, camera comes up. All other button are fine. Could you able to help me?
my whole audio control including source, menu wasn't working and Honda change the switch inside. But now when I press source, it brings rear camera....
I can get it back by pushing the same menu/source key, but after i turn off my car and on it back, the same In Line Dialog screen appear again. I will try tomorrow again see if it will back to normal or not or still stuck at In Line Dialog screen... :(
For my Honda CR-V 2016 it shows up when I click on it just comes up has a black screen and I know it’s showing the back but it only shows black screen I can see the red dot and everything I think I need to install a camera any help please.
HereIsTheSmackDown mine does this too...it's a 2015 EX, so normally the rear camera displays in the big 7" screen. When I go into this menu, the display is on the small imid screen, and I see the overlay,but just gray static in the background. :(
forgot to mention that i dont have a menu button on my steering wheel but i do have the source button on it and i already tried pressing the menu button with the source button on the radion unit
try this With the car either running or on - press the "Back + Menu + Front Audio" buttons together for 5 seconds - a Setup\Diagnostic menu will appear on both screens.
