2014 Honda CRV Tips and Tricks Review 

Just bought a 2014 CRV--upgrade from my 2004 CRV. This video was HUGELY helpful!!! Thank you!!!

My phone connects to the blue tooth but whenever anyone calls me, I can hear them clearly, but I sound underwater to them. Honda dealers never cured the problem with hearing clearly. Paid for the equipment and it never worked or was corrected. It works in their bay but as soon as you are out on the road, people I make calls too cannot understand me. Not good for safety. Idk why there was never a recall? Mine is a 2013. So my phone connects but is not useable.

I started to watch because the title said 2014 which I own. Many of the set up options are different from the 2013 Honda CRV.

yes it is compatible. Please remember that different phones will not do everything. Honda has a web page that can list all the features for all the different phones. the mail differences between LX and EX are tinted windows, power front seat, alloy rims and Sunroof. CRV = compact recreational vehicle

My first suggestion is to clear the system on the car. Then remove the battery in the phone and try to reconnect the phone to the car. If that doesn't work please Email me.

@4:45 you would be so surprised at how many of these cars that will NOT let you adj the CUSTOM settings. It's some type of software issue and when you finally get it changed at random it goes back to where it was. There are tricks that sometimes work like Opening the drivers door and closing it again then put the e-brake on then turn the key to the #3 on without starting the engine and then putting the car in drive BUT it doesn't always work. Very frustrating.

I bought a new 1.6D SR CR-V. My phone Samsung Galaxy Y keeps disconnecting. Dealer says phone not compatible, I asked Honda they have not confirmed or denied. Bluetooth is V3.0 with A2DP.HS. Can you advise Jason?

I have a 2021 CRV. The tachometer option on my settings is grayed out and I can't choose it to change my tachometer settings. Why?

Thank you for your feedback. Yes I have heard that issue in some of the older Pilots but I think Honda has changed the system and it is much better now. I don't really do 'reviews' because so many people do them and they cover about everything on the vehicle Except the tips and tricks.

I don't know much about the Auto fold mirrors. I looked for some info but couldn't find much. If you can it should be in the owners manual. Honda Australia also has a good FB page. you could ask them also Thanks you

Hi Jason, I bought Honda CR V 2014. Just wanted to know how to change display for Odometer like it use to show when I press exilator.

When Honda sent us for training back in late 1996 they said "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle" but your way makes more sense LOL Thanks and I'm happy you picked up some new tricks :-D

I noticed when my front wipers are on, the rear wiper will come on as well if you shift into (R)everse, a nice feature.

Congrats on your new CRV. Yes after pressing the 'phone' button select 'NO' and it will prompt you to add a phone. or in the phone settings menu you can 'add' a phone. Please let me know if that works

Before worrying about BS things like "wallpaper," Honda, how about selling INTERIOR TOUCH-UP paint, since most of the interior plastic scratches like it's made out of BUTTER!

There is a setting in the audio setting screen named RDS. It should be turned on. Please let me know if that works

Yes you can leave a battery disconnected for a 10 month period. I would recommend driving the car for the brakes and some fluids to move around.

You can pair up to 4 phones but you can only use or 'connect' with one at a time. I hope that answers your question. Jason

LOL Please let me know. I learned about what it meant in 1995 at a preview for the car. I don't know many salesman that remember that :-)

They are the same around the speedometer but the iMID screen you can change the color.

it will be in Audio settings. it is just a box you can check or uncheck

I mean it when I say I ran screaming to the garage during this video not just once, to pair my phone, but a second time as well to change the automatic lock and unlock door settings. I had assumed there was no bluetooth since there was no obvious bluetooth button.

I am unable to load from contact list from my Samsung Note 3 to the Bluetooth upload. Apparently it works with i-phone but not Samsung. The same phone was able to load into Odessey according to someone else who had same problem. So Honda, please fix this bug real soon as I cannot use my blue tooth. It only loads 200 contacts only apparently. We need more than 200 contacts, more like 1,000 at least as most have more than 200 on Contact list which should be editable with name in manual load. We cannot even put names in there. Just not good enough.

Hi Jason I just discovered your tips Channel. I am based in the UK and purchased my CR-V EX in Jan 2015 I have a Question which none of my local dealers seem to able to answer. Via Bluetooth What has caused the CR-V to stop showing the Track information? I know this did work because it was a feature I wanted and checked during my test drive and When I received my own model it worked. and after a few months stopped. I have Tried various Model phones and IPOD"touch models with Bluetooth", IPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 6 although I have always owned a Samsung Android Device and Have Upgrade from S3 to S4 now using A Note 4 just to try and get this feature back. I can make calls Via the Bluetooth which does display Caller name. so it is just the track data not being display. My model CR-V EX does have the Hard drive, and music played from the Hard Drive does show the Track information but also flakes out occasionally and after a restart of the car mostly Fixes that i was also Advised to update the Radio Version I was Running 5455 and now running 7155. i tried to connect my galaxy s3 to my 2013 honda crv with usb...it pairs with bluetooth just fine the music plays but i cant get the display on the dash. i tried for hours today and could'nt get it to work please help

Hi Jason, Great video. I just switched cars from a Toyota Prius 2012 to the Honda CRV EX 2014. I had voice recognition of contacts to use my phone to make a call in the Prius. Cant figure out how to do it in the CRV. Is it available?

I am not sure if the CR-V in the US has the folding side mirrors. In Australia it has the folding mirrors, but it doesn't auto-fold on lock. Do you have any tips to do this?

Hi Jason, I just picked up the CRV EXL, and I love it. I'm coming from a car, which I put in a custom audio system in. The audio is okay on the crv, but I'd like to improve it. Should I transfer my amps and 10" subwoofer to this vehicle? And do you think I'd benefit from replacing the stock speakers? I can't seem to find any documentation on the brand of speakers, or if the head unit has hi volt RCA preouts.

My 2013 CRV will only take calls from my Samsung galaxy S4 it wont play any music from the phone at all and when I try to hook it up via usb it says its not supported. What if anything can I do to get it to play my music from my phone?

I got this figured out. In order to get the address book to download fully, a $2 app called "Bluetooth Phonebook" can be used for the car to recognize and download your address book to the car. As far as the texting goes, I went to my Honda dealer and the tech called Honda directly and they told him to order a software update which should be arriving any day now. They hope that will fix the texting issue as I found out it wasn't my phone because it worked in my friend's 2013 Civic.

Using a touchscreen Honda Radio, how do you get in to developer mode, and take a snap shot (screenshot)to a USB stick? Do you know more than just the basic features that only old people have trouble with?

I was hoping you were going to cover the compass. Just bought mine used a couple months ago, and the compass is always flashing. I've tried following the manual to set it and it won't start the calibration process. I put the key into no. II position and press the set up button and nothing happens. WHATS UP?

After a lot of manual reading and trials with several drives, I finally got, using all of the steps that your video showed, a wall paper loaded to the screen.....but....unlike your demonstration where your import filled the entire screen, my wallpaper is a small patch maybe 25% of the size of the screen. How do I expand it to fill the screen. BTW.....numerous wallpaper attempts were rejected....too large.... too large....too large. Do I have to somehow get to some size of file that is one screen's worth to fill the screen?

I bought a 12 V, 20 amp intelligent battery charger with engine assist and I don’t know what type of battery to set the charger. Just trying to be safe. I’m trying to learn here.

I've got a 2014 and need a questioned answered. I had to change out the battery in the key fob. And initially I installed it upside down. I opened it back up and swapped it around, and SOMETIMES the little red light on the fob will still come on but won't open doors. I've tried multiple times to do the turn to on, press, turn it off 3 times then once more trick with no luck. Is the fob fried now, or can it be resurrected and if so how. Please.
