I just wanted to let you know that I hope you go very far! You have a wonderful way of teaching and your voice is so smoothing. I truly enjoyed "your small mistakes" because it shoes that every sewist is NOT perfect and you showed those parts. PLEASE keep showing them. They help the beginners to understand how to fix those booboo that everyone makes. I have been sewing for 54 years and quilting for over 30. I absolutely LOVED your presentation and when you could not find the word, I said outlook to myself...that sounds just like me! So PLEASE, keep.doing your videos! I can not wait to see more! I loved your block!!!
This is such fun !!!! I've been quilting for many years but always looking for something new and different. I will have fun with this block. Then I think I will change the size of the strips and see what I get. Thank You for some new fun !!! Happy Quilting !!
I took a class with the lady who developed this technique Mary Ellen Ellen Hopkins back in 1991. I still have her handouts and booklet from class and the blocks I made. She was tiny in stature but big on fun and sharing every detail to make a great quilt.
If you would use a rotating cutting mat would eliminate having to pick up your block and putting it back into place before you cut it diagonally. I love love love my rotating cutting mat. Nice block
How fun! I love the format of your channel - how you focus on one pretty and interesting block and the different possibilities of putting several of them together! You also make it very easy to understand. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Some of your blocks are new to me :) (By the way, your midwest accent is lovely, too!)
Do you have your directions/instructions “written” down? I would love a transcript of your tutorial! You make it look so easy and quick. Love your color choices and thanks for sharing! Look forward to following your tutorials.
I don’t have it written down, but 1) I cut 4 strips 2.5 x 18 then sewed them together 2) I cut it into two 8.5 inch squares 3) turn one vertical and one horizontal put right sides together and sew all four sides 4) cut diagonally (corner to corner) both ways 5) square up all for pieces 6) lay out in the pattern you want and sew together
OH Boy this is amazing...I am new to this ....trying to teach myself...slowly but thank you ...this is amazing.....cant wait to see all your vlogs....happy lady from England UK xxxx
This is a very cute simple block ! I noticed you waited to press your seams at the last ! That little details means a lot to a newby quilter ! I’ve not sewed a quilt yet but I wanna make some small stuff to start out that won’t be so challenging ! Lol but I tell ya I’ve seen a lot press there seams to the dark side on the first part but question ?! Would you allways press your final block seams like that to lay the way they should ? Also what please are some simple small items one can quilt to get more comfortable with quilting ?!!! I first started interesting in making garments and I regret that now cause I could have a way better stash but don’t get me wrong one day I’m gonna make these fabrics and tools be worth my time on buying ! I had thought about selling them so I could afford more quilt cotton but I’ll never get the retail I paid so one day but until then I love crafty /quilting stuff ! And I do regret jumping into buying until I really found what I loved ! I was afraid to sew stuff at first by seeing so many different complex idk I guess I’ll say seams for hand bags ect but for just quilting I see it’s more about the cutting and sewing and geting it perfect as you can but it’s still kinda scary lol cause when you cut into fabrics ! It’s over if you make a mistake ! But man is quilt fabrics expensive ! Which clothing fabrics can be as well ! But for the average garment maker there are very few choices I’ve notice on buying fabrics unless you live let’s say in New York or Chicago lol
Thank you! I try to press to the dark but if it doesn’t fit I press whichever way works...also buy low priced fabrics to practice with, they work just fine😉
Very interesting I like. I saw you struggling with which way I’m press, your fabric will tell you where it wants to go it just makes it do much easier. I’m going to try this!! Thank You
can u give me the size to cut for quilt blanket. it look so amazing. you always type fabric A, what sise fabric B, what size but I look up didn't tell me what size. u are very champ
I made a quilt with this pattern. Although it looks lovely ironing the seams is a nightmare and it has very lumpy bits to try to quilt over. I wouldn't recommend it.
I wish that you would give exact measurements of your strips when you started and the length of the strips when you made your first cut. I would love to try this with a jelly roll.
@@CutandCreate Thank you. I guess that I didn’t make myself clear on what I meant. I would like to see the sizes inserted on the screen at the beginning of the tutorial so that we could screenshot the exact measurements of each cut without having to keep rewatching the video. I hope that makes sense now. 🙂
Oh I see, I have started to put them in the description of new videos! I plan on going back and adding it to the previous ones it will just take me some time😊
I would really like to know the sizes of the strips and squares (finished) I also love the fabric I would like to purchase it if possible could you tell me where you got it. Thank You.
Nice. I think it needs one or two solid or tone on tone fabrics to break up the busyness of the block. You lose a lot of the design with all those busy prints. I think, anyway.
