I'm confused... Why were you/they only flying with an airspeed of about 280 knots at 38000ft over the atlantic? Surely you should flying with a ground speed of about 500mph in this situation which would be somewhere between 450 and 480kts by my estimate. I figured you had a massive 200kt easterly tailwind so you were achieving a 480kt ground speed with a 280kt airspeed, but the only 200kt winds over the atlantic I know of is the jet stream which is a westerly wind flowing to the east in the OPPOSITE direction so I dont think you did have that tail wind. But even if you did have a 200kt tailwind, why would you not accelerate to 480kts airspeed anyway and just enjoy the 200kt boost and cruise with a 680kt ground speed? I figured maybe you were going to do that though and just had not reached that speed yet, but in that case why was your instrumentation showing an overspeed warning above about 300kts?? I thought you had to very carefully maintain a narrow speed margin around 480kts when at such altitudes because you are in the so called "coffin corner". Please explain? Sorry for duplicate post also but i wasnt sure where was the best place to post to maximise the chances of the post being noticed and receiving a response!
@@lxdimension ur looking at the wrong thing. They were going 486 kts TAS (true air speed) over the atlantic. Ur looking at the IAS (Indicated air speed) which is always lower the higher you go because the air is thinner and so the plane reads a lower IAS. Which is why at higher altitude speed is measured by mach number not kts. They were doing Mach 0.844
The Wright brothers never dreamed of even a fraction of this. Keep your skyscrapers, Google search speed, and other achievements. NOTHING beats aviation on this scale. A man made miracle! Great video. Absolutely thrilling.
The A380 is absolutely jaw-dropping. What a plane! The amount of runway it uses on takeoff had me sweating a bit. Looks like he was rotating 1000 ft from the end.
Nothing to fear, they could have taken off sooner. But to spare the engine wear they used the full lenght of the runway. The A380 needs less runway to takeoff and to land, it can climb faster than the 747-8.
Just some A380 facts: worlds most powerful APU with 1.2 megawatt, biggest RAT(1.6m), first monolithic composite wingbox, first variable speed drive generators, first power by wire flight control actuators, most complex plane with 560km of wiring, more than 110000 connectors and more than 25000 sensors, monolithic carbonfiber after fuselage, first plane with 5000psi hydraulics, first integration of ROPS,BTV, Acute technologies, first ADFX network, i could go on and on and on...
Hats off to these pilot pros who flys this precious bird promoting coral reef protection. Its amazing to see what pilots do to make sure that planes and passengers are safe as they traverse the skies. Nuff respect to these fly guys, they are amazing ✈️✈️✈️✈️🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
My fear of flying is high but watching videos like these lessens that more and more. Understand what goes on and how everything works, all the procedures involved and the extreme dedication and informative details the pilots display is calming
The First Officer is great too, he is clearly seasoned and knows exactly what's coming and what the Captain is going to ask for. Always fun to see CRM in action.
This is a very sophisticated aircraft. The Pilot is brilliant, and so too are all the other pilots that I have looked at. I admire every single one of them. It is still an aircraft .
I think that's awesome this dad took his daughter to work, this is something she will never forget. Hopefully more parents will help peak their kids curiosity.
Fantastic! The avionic capabilities you have on that A380 are outstanding. Lindburgh flew New York to Paris on May 20-21, 1927 in 33.5 hours and you do it in 7 hours and 50 minutes in a fantastic aircraft! I am an en route air traffic controller ZAB/ZDV 36 years, retired.
I love me some great A380 videos, and I loved my trips on the A380 betwixt Los Angeles and China and Thailand. Such a wonderful aircraft!! Extreme professionalism by the crew as well!! Superb!!
Thanks for this video. Just back home in England after a holiday to Perth on A380 via Dubai. Great to see what’s happening up front and see just how professional you all are. Keep up the good work.
Fascinating and extremely informative! Amazing technology on display. Incredible skills and training required to fly one of these beautiful birds. Thoroughly enjoyed this! Thanks!!
@@lamertobrotamante2342 yes, as far as I learned, A380 flight costs are no longer profitable and 2-engine aircraft (Boeing 747) cannot compete with single-engine aircraft in terms of fuel consumption, etc.
@@AtaBoraBasar people demand it I do too people have spoken mine too coz its pretty darn good in the air so smooth impressive magical so huge. Aside from fuel one of the obstacle that time was the covid I dont know not sure one thing is sure now is they're willing to make more..not a lot I don't know. I knew emirates and Lufthansa has a lot.
@@lamertobrotamante2342 They have bought a lot but 747 and a380 both are being phased out because they not economical anymore covid or no covid all companies always trying to save save save and dont care that you think this plane so impressive and big and has to be kept in your opinion. There are lots of 747 and a380 lovers out there like you, but they are so few in between and usually not even flying on those planes themselves but always scream in comments to bring them back or keep them. Just some fans sitting on a sofa pretend to know everything but don't even know how fuel consumption is everything now days.
Wow you can tell the A380 flies super smooth. Its probably unreal to feel that plane. Its my dream to just hop on a flight from JFK to Dubai and then back. I dont even have to go on vacation. The flight will be my vacation. Someone help me make my dream come true ❤
This was excellent! Interesting to see how deviations are performed and the technology involved in determining the intensity of the weather at different altitudes. Thank you!
Very nice plane(lots of helpful tech to prepare in advance) and the video gave us a lot more detail than usual about the airplane. I did notice though that the FO was following everything by the book(1:16:27, 1:17:05) but both captains took solo decisions. There was an item to check "both" flight controls and the first captain marked it as checked after checking only on his side. 1:17:28 The second captain inserts flight path changes without confirmation from FO, which reminded me of "American Airlines Flight 965".
42:53 Can someone explain why the captain first fully pushed the throttles nb. 2 and 3 and waited before bringing the throttles nb. 1 and 4 into alignment with the other two? Thank you :)
many people says that pilots do not have to fly any more but that is a quite the opposite. these planes are so high tech nowadays that you have to now everything that they do.
Wow I love the cockpit of the 380, you have the checklist right there and it's interactive. And the airport charts, yum. And the entire blackout theme: If it's lit it's a problem (or as in the start, an item to activate.)
Anyone else notice the FMS indicated (when transfering departure request) that "Full Length" was mispelled? It shows "Full Lenght" on the display. Odd. I haven't won any spelling bees, but....
Love this sophisticated captain,he gave us a some knowledge of the aircraft while hi walk around. He is a captain of excellence.i would be like to work for him
This is a great video, love the flight and cabin crew. The video quality is exceptional. Love the content. Continue to produce these videos. I would be very privileged to be apart of the flight deck.
Sooooon FBW makes us flying this big beautiful beast in MSFS 2020!! While I'm watching this video I notice, this can easily be used as a tutorial video for when the A380 from FBW come to release. ☺ GREAT!
It's unfortunate for the countries/owners of the 380 since Boeing invested heavily in the Dream liner and other transcontinental birds that fly with 2 engines, not 4 anymore, though the 747 is still in use today. We still think the A380 is a beautiful craft, but the technology and economics has just about put it out of business. I have never seen a 380 in person, but I can see them flying overhead going from San Francisco to, let's say Frankfurt on a cloudless sky at 24k and climbing. It's a beautiful sight. ✈️
For those that always wanted to know what V1 meant.. Its the point of no return you have to Take-off........ you hope during this time everything goes to plan cheers Merry Christmas
