You're right about how often Nets turn out to be Play Of The Game. I'm wishing that CA would finally give Arachnaroks their Web Lobbas. Who ever heard of spider units without webs?
I wonder if Vampires will be getting all sorts of bound abilities for their lords, like the new factions. They literally live off dark magic, so they're a pretty magically focused faction.
When you said "high elves next" I thought you would play them. I need to see them win a game, they just loose every competitive match up I have seen. They look so rubbish!

Do you think it would have been better just to bring Jabba on his Stegadon, rather than have the cold one riders? i feel like CA should have made up a unit for the high elves to get a mid range infantry unit to free up both the white lions and sword masters to be higher end
Honestly, if the High Elf spears had armour piercing like Eternal Guard, I think a lot of their infantry issues would go away. But if they did that, all of the High Elf infantry would have armour piercing which might be a bit out of wack.
The white lions are a royal guard unit. It would be like having the evocati cohort(swordmasters) being rome's high tier infantry and the praetorian guard(white lions) being mid tier in rome 2. it doesnt really matter but it would be a nice touch in my opinion.
I wonder if you would've had even better performance from Javelin thrower-Skinks on the flanks pressuring, rather than the standard cohort. I'm guessing they have about similar melee stats, so in a pinch they'll probably perform similarly but it looks like missile pressure would've been far better, at least in this particular battle. The Lotheran Sea Guard would've have a harder time trading fire with the skinks due to their shields and mass quantity, and the Skinks themselves would probably do decent damage with the volume of fire against such targets. They also could've helped apply pressure to the Star Dragon, though probably not much considering the Dragon's armor, but ranged pressure is always nice! Maybe a 1 Cohort-1 Javelin situation might even better pretty good, as the Cohorts did do okay against the more vulnerable archers. Just some thoughts.~ Very well played and exciting battle!~
I think against the High Elves Kroq-Gar is the better pick, that bonus versus large really puts the hurt on Dragons, and right now everyone brings them as the high elves
HE low / mid tier infantry seems really crappy. White lions and spearmen fall like leafes. They don't have AP option in missiles so their ussage is limited, Lothern sea guard seems pretty good thought. Don't know how high tear infantry will work but its just too expensive to field. Atm i see HE being really weak: squishy, expensive and without enough damage. The dragon is fine but not near close to 2,5k gold, more seeing lizardmen dinosaurs being almost as effective by only half the gold or so. DE corsairs are a lot better than White lions in usefullness and they also have low tier sword/shield infantry (bleakswords) wich HE lack. With HE to make some numbers u are really forced to bring spearmen or White lions, the first really ineficient (always have to bring antilarge with you, and they are expensive) and the second just seem fine on the paper but bad in the end for what I've seen, at least for 800 gold.
Darko unluckily HE archers dont have AP and in the 4 races most unarmored units have shields while armored units not. Thats why DE missiles are much more efficient than HE archers. HE will have to shoot armored or shielded units so they are not efficient enough, while DE missiles can melt elite armored units without shields. Diamond God the lizardmen only had 1 high tier infantry (halberds), the rest was low tier (skinks that cost 300 gold) and mid tier (saurus that cost 800). You can see clearly the problem in minute 8:04 , in the left side of tha battle (from HE perspective) there is an engagement between skinks (300 gold) + saurus (800 gold) vs spearmen (500 gold) + White lions (800 gold) and the battle goes slightly in favor of the lizarmen when they have 200 points less invested in that flank. Saurus are better than white lions and both cost the same. Skinks are almost as good as HE spearmen and cost 300 points less). HE spearmen can do OK vs calvary, but its the only "cheap" (500 gold) infantry of the HE and suck balls againts infantry (they wouldn't have it easy to winn a 300 gold skinks in a 1v1). The only next option is White lions which cost 800 golds and are relatively underpowered for their cost, so its not really a good solution. HE really has an infantry problem that needs to be solved. I don0t know how they would do vs the empire or other old world races, but they will have a really tough time beating lizarmen and DE. Sskaven are the only race maybe its a bit more equal because they can't destroy their cav easily. HE have really good cav but lizarmen and DE have antilarge cav so HE cav is no longer good vs them if not totally outplayed
Pakinov I don't see you talking about sword masters the elite units because they will wreck anyway or phoniex guard and your over here comparing stats in a pre release build they could have change anything so shut tf and wait until release day before you fucking complain dumb fuck
Btw the blind on the laser lizard is AoE so use it as a catapult for groups and not sniping and it will do very well. (it's not always about the damage)
If I remember from TT, HE had some of the top units in every column (lords, heroes, infantry, ranged, hybrid, cav, monsters etc. maybe not artillery) with lower numbers/higher cost. Couldn't CA have done that? Really good units with lower numbers, or would they just get mobbed by fodder. Know the modders will do their things eventually, but seems to be the main complaint i've been reading about HE
GG! Very close battle, and IMHO elf play can win if he use star dragon more aggressive. Skinks perform pretty well btw - 31-65 kills vs high elfs pretty solid. I look forward to see feral cold ones, this "flying ones" and chameleons, they seems pretty interesting on paper. Also about MP games - what you think about 2-3(4?) revivification bastillodons? They cost 100 more then feral ones, and have literally invocation on nehek as ability. And still - heavy armored monsters with fear and terror. I think what if player have good micro - this will be really hard to counter in straight fight.
So Turin, did you train MissTurin successfully in toturous Warhammer Total War Session to get her in the mood for her Morathi Dark Elf Campaign or do you go the probably safer way and bribe her with Booze / Drinks? Aside from that, looks like Indypride had a hell of a lot fun with that Star Dragon through this battle. I think the Bastilodon with Revivification Crystal would have been a better version for this battle compared to the Bastilodon with the Solar Engine.
hi Turin, I have a question regarding a mechanic in twh2, in twh1 there was this weird mechanic that would cause big monster like mammoths and spiders to tire because of the archers on their backs. Also, archers would get exhausted rather quickly. Could you tell me if this Is this changed in twh2? anyways, I love your vids and keep up with the good content.
Hey Turin I was playing beastmen vs empire which seems like a really rough matchup using Khazrak This guy flew in with a bright wizard and two shot my bray shaman with undodgable fireballs - is that a thing now?
Not a "connoisseur" of the TW lore but aren;t the HE the ones that stopped a demon/evul invasion?they did!? !oh..and now they get butchered in every clip by magical rats, lizzards and they're tanned counter parts? Huh.Pretty contradictory from what i got so far from the game intro's. As a newbie in TW1 all i can say is, the +range on HE archers seems redundant as all the factions have superior speed, so, said archers seem to be more "artilery" then ranged mobile units.Hah, il call them "fire and forget" because they seem to be lost after 1-3 volleys. My apologies for the horrid english.:D
Diamond God It's a trend. People like to complain and do this doom and gloom stuff. "High Elves are shit, Dark Elves are OP" - game ain't even out yet. Sure High Elves look a bit less good. Mainly because of the small variety of infantry. But I think the spears will be lineholders, and the main engagement is going to be the cavalry fight.
