High & Mighty Floating Shelf 

These are pretty handy. In my house's drywall at least it was really hard to push the hanger pins into the wall. I more or less had to tap them in with a rubber mallet. But even then, I still think it's a great idea, and was easier than putting up a conventional floating shelf with the drilling and manual leveling, etc. I got the white 36" model with the "fancier" molding edge for above a desk and it looks nice. It does feel plasticy or vinyl vaneer-ey but it's decorative and I don't touch it much. The woodgrain pattern looks good enough even up close.

I'm a little confused, do they or do they not go into the wall, and what does the end result look like if/when you take out the shelves (how big is the hole and how easy is it to fix?), and finally, how do these hold up on textured walls?

Can it all be removed easily?
