you might dig the reservoir into the soil. can easily cool down 5 degrees (C) for free

That’s a great idea.

I wouldnt recommend using any plant that grows more than 12"-15" tall in a barrel system unless you provide external support. If you plant mange tout (snow peas?) in the bottom sites you can train them to grow up and around the barrel. I tie loops of string around the barrel at intervals (not too tight) and tuck the plants behind them as they grow The side shoots latch onto the loops and spread sideways and eventually latch onto other shoots to form a natural support net They are super productive and provide local shade and humidity which is very beneficial to short term crops like lettuce which have to be replanted throughout the season. The seedling survival rate is much higher with mange tout foliage protection than without.

Hello Atom Izer, thank you for these practical suggestions. Being in QC, Canada, I will reorganize the barrels in the spring and will definitely apply your ideas when we start the seeds before Spring. Any other ideas are welcomed and appreciated, Happy growing

@@renovatech I`d suggest using a coolbox (igloo etc) for the reservoir or burying an uninsulated reservoir in the ground to keep it cool. I`m surprised your white bucket isnt green with algae, you must be cleaning it regularly :) For recirculated hpa, i`d recommend a 250 mesh filter if you can find one. It looks like you are using biocontrol impingement misting nozzles which have a faily large orifice.

@@atomizer2665 would you recommend the biocontrol nozzles ? Thinking about trying them
@atomizer2665
@atomizer2665 3 года назад
@@jessesaitoo The biocontrol nozzles are ok but considering the price they could be better..The stated flowrate is nowhere near accurate and mist pattern they deliver isnt 360deg as you might expect. Unless the QC has improved your likely to get a few dud`s so order extra and dont be surprised if you need to send a few back. The main issue is the nozzles are made of plastic and the correct function hinges on the perfect alignment of the orifice and impingement pin.

Hi Sir, I'm kinda confused. what did you mean when you said 1.8-2.2ppm? is it 1,800-2,200ppm? also, that's a really cool setup. 👍

Why not put the tank to even higher pressure and use an 80 PSI regulator, that way the tank will only need to be turned on occasionally? Also. Wouldn't the water cool down when misted?

A lot depebds on the maximum working pressure of the accumulator but its always best to use a pressure reducer set to the minimum tank pressure to ensure a constant flowrate from the nozzles. Evaporative cooling relies on relatively dry air and airflow, the RH% in the barrels will always be high and there`s very little airflow ;)

Why are you going to take it apart? Because of the okra? Taking everything apart? What are you going to do different?

He just meant take the plants out and put it away for the winter. This video was made in the fall at the end of the season.
