The instructor knows how to teach! I've reviewed several other videos on youtube and ALL were confusing. This video was the FIRST that was simple, and yet detailed enough for me to completely understand a high-pressure system. Kudos to this gentleman.

The best part about building your own aeroponic system is all the learning you do iterating upon your own design that you would otherwise miss using an off the shelf system.

Hi Lee. I have a question. Im a plumber by trade. All of your videos have great explanations, much appreciated. Im automating mine as well with micro controllers. I can program well enough in C to make it work. Im having one issue. What misters are you buying? Ive been shopping and have not found the best one that suits the parameters you are mentioning. Other wise i can calculate friction loss and pressure drop etc. Also the diagrams you show are all sequential linear when you talk about pressure drop. If you tie the loose end back into the main system you get even pressure all around for your misters. You still have the pressure drop but its equal among all of the misters. Same as a shower that has a wall of sprayers coming from one valve. If you tie the terminal end back in to the main in a loop all the sprayers have the same pressure. And you only have to deal with the pressure drop on all of the misters as if it were just one variable.

I have a question. Do we need the pressure switch if we are planning on running an auto recycler timer? You say we need the pressure switch to control the pump on and off, but if I am running a recycler timer, say 5 seconds on/2.5 minutes off, then why would I need a pressure switch to control the pump?
@HighTechGardener
@HighTechGardener 4 года назад
Yes, you need both. Pressure switch controls the pump. The timer controls the misting intervals. Two separate components. Two separate functions.

What about a pressure release valve for safety? What would happen if the solenoid is normally closed and the booster pump just keeps on pumping in nutrients to the accumulator? Something is going to explode.
@HighTechGardener
@HighTechGardener 2 года назад
The pump I use has it built in. It's not needed. Good observation.
@ShopperPlug
@ShopperPlug 2 года назад
@@HighTechGardener Are you referencing about the auto shutoff mechanism built into the pump? If so, highly recommend to not solely rely upon it. I have never seen a professional high pressure diaphragm pump that has a built in pressure relief valve mechanism. If there are such pump, I would like to know the name and model of such pump. I was referencing specifically for a pressure relief valve mechanism for maximum safety, added redundancy, prevention of pump damage, explosion, loss of investment and etc. It is really remarkable how a $2-$5 safety measure of pure mechanical device, saves so much headache. In plumbing, by local legal codes, it is mandatory to implement a pressure relief valve mechanism, imagine large scale aeroponics not utilizing a pressure relief valve. All professional plumping of all industries implements some sort of a pressure relief valve mechanism for maximum safety. Thanks for your RU-vid channel, it is very helpful and I like how you are bringing more exposure about true aeroponics to the gardening world, I wish this channel existed 12 years ago when I first started true aeroponics.

hi, i am from india ,a local engg. service farm which provides high pressure pump and misting nozzle says that to get around 50 micron droplet size we use hp pumps which runs around 1000 psi ,is it true ? ,i am confused as you suggest 80-100 psi
@HighTechGardener

Yes. I use 100psi. It all depends on what the nozzles are rated for to achieve 50 microns.

When you are building the misting system, are the misting heads supposed to be in parallel or in series? If they are chained one after another in series would the pressure vary?

This will be a future video. The misters are arrange in series and parallel. I know it sounds confusing. We combine the two for the best performance.
