I'm an old fella now, but all of my life I've searched for and followed the spark of enlightened science and brilliance to keep me feeling like the young boy who's never left. I'm gung-ho right now with beginning hydroponics, But... I've stopped dead in my tracks since viewing your introduction videos and now I've almost finished the entire series, knowing once will not be enough. I just got my first cuttings to root in my first attempt at HPA. It fuckin works. The entire stem goes white and bumpy within a week. One pointer though, if you are building a cloner: The clone gels like root tech and clonex are super thick and meant for LPA, DWC, or manual cloning. If you try to use them with HPA and do not have the right interval, they will suffocate from the gel. So set your interval to something like 30-60 seconds on, 2-4 minutes off for the first day. This will allow the smaller droplets, which have less mass and therefore deliver less kinetic energy (since force = massxvelocity) to the cutting than LPA droplets, to accumulate and rinse the gel off in an adequate amount of time.

This looks awesome! I would love to get this calculator. My system will have 32 nozzles. I’m also a react developer so if you’d like some help I’d be glad to give it. For example adding an option to use metric values :-). Great work!

This is only one part of creating an Aeroponic System. I have hundreds of excel spreadsheets just for one system. Everything is in relation to chamber size, the environment/altitude what type of plant, how long a plant will be in the chamber, cycle changes in conjunction with root growth, drain to waste or recirculating nutrients etc., And this is considering everyone is using the exact same equipment. For example most nozzles used for HP aero will fill a 26 gallon container easily using only 1 nozzle. But two opposing nozzles work better, yet now your parameters must be cut in half since two nozzles double the throughput. I appreciate the calculator, adding chamber size throughput would make it awesome.

awesome. Will it or can it contain a section for plant sizes? Cannabis can get large and I need it for medicine. It can have a huge root mass compared to lettuce .
you can prone the roots to encourage lateral grow, but best technique would be a high density sog with 12/12 direct from clone with this technique you can harvest up to 6 times a year

Yes, great idea and i want it, I been doing DWC with mixed results, looking to do HPS for indoor grow, but dunno where to start. Your calculator would be an awesome tool to have and use.
I think for cloning, drain to waste is just not a great idea. You don't want a giant res, or to have to mix up nutrients every day. At least I don't. And since I run 100ppm or less on the TDS for cloning anyway, recirc seems better. However, I am wondering if drain to waste might be better for flowering. You can use larger reservoirs, and I can see the logic in wanting to feed the delicate aero roots a fresh mixture of nutrient water on each mist interval. It would also make vertical ALPFs much easier. Do you think one is better than the other?
drain to waste because its the easiest way, because you mix it once lets say 20 liters and your daily consumption is 500ml, thats 40 days you dont have to mix or check pH. you always want nutrients in your water because you have to think of the mist as a medium like earth which holds the Nitrate,Calcium,Magnesium etc.
@@Humbulla93 Yeah Ive switched over completely to DTW, even on my HPA cloner. It is a little more trouble keeping the res full, particularly during the first day or so when the intervals have to be super short with long duration mist times. You def cant run on just 500ml per day, unless you have one nozzle and are cloning like 4-6 cuttings. Even when I had my intervals set to 2 sec on/8 min off, I would use a couple gallons every 24 hours.
@@jonosterman2878 well those 500ml was just an example. 1ml per 100l root-area is the ideal point. of course if you use a larger area you also have to use more nutrient-solution. how much percent in yield did you gain? do you prune your roots, or just letting it grow? and what kind of plant are you growing? what nozzles are you using? the hardest part of aeroponic is to properly dialing in the on/off time of the misters , once you figured it out, this system is unbeatable.
ions are the same and saltbased nutrients are more advantageous because of stable ph and it cant fould or build up a microfilm which then clogs the tubing and nozzles
I design these types of systems on an industrial scale... mostly for the mining industry. Unfortunately, when scaled down to the size of irigation, the information is so scarce and hard to find. Your videos and information is quite useful, but I greatly anticipate "the calculator" as it looks like it will answer many of the questions I have been resolving by trial and error thus far. Please, please, please.... the sooner it can be released the better!
I'd like to see the calculator. I have a couple of suggestions. 1 have the ability to choose GPH as well as GPM on the nozzles. 2 put all of the calculations in 1 page, more like a spreadsheet. I for one hate having to click through multiple pages.

In your video you mentioned the nutrient waste - what happens to the calculation if you run the waste back to the nutrient container, will the calculation still be accurate ? I am also looking into fogponics, and am interested in combining both in one system .. Last question; what is the size of the water-droplets when using a aeroponic system, knowing that the water droplets in a fogponic system is 5 nano-meter, but what size is the aeroponic water droplets ?

I am currently designing a high pressure aeroponics system, one thing I am wondering about is: is there any reason why I can't put the drain hole on the bottom so there is no additional water just sitting in the growing chamber? Every system I see has the drain plug really close to the bottom on the side, which allows for additional water to sit in the chamber.
rather than asking how many nozzles i can feed with my system, id like to know how FEW nozzles i can get away with, and base the rest of my system around that. is it possible to use only 2 nozzles pointed upwards in the bottom of a tub that measures roughly 18X36 or something similar?

I am currently doing small project on aeroponics. I want to know the best distance between my 0.3mm (0.01in) brass nozzle and my netpot. I also want to know how much nozzle is needed on container fitted with 6 netpot. My container quite small as it only 24L with dimensions, 400mm (15.7") x 330mm (13") x (H)210mm (8.3"). Can I design, misting 2 netpot using one nozzle? Thank you very much!
real issue is, how to determine how many gallons we need ? I am sure that must also be based on atmospheric demand, so in summer the number would increase.. issue is how to determine that?
Correct. There are variables I did not account for. Therefore, we need to over design the system by 10 to 30 percent to account for these loses. Great question. Thanks.
Your design is over kill. Their is no point to the charging system. You know if you use the right size mister, your lines will hold pressure and slowly release. Causing your system to spray until the pressure is reduced.
