I’m at 23 weeks and just found out a couple days ago we will be having a baby girl with gastroschisis. It feels completely unreal, and all I’ve been trying to do is find as much information as I can. There is almost no videos or personal experiences on this subject, and then I found you! Thank you for doing these vlogs because it is so comforting to see someone else going through this at a similar time. I’m sure you remember how horrifying it was when the doctors told you, but videos like this bring me comfort in knowing my little girl will be okay. I hope you find comfort in sharing too!
There is nothing that can prepare you for that moment when your baby is taken from you. It’s heartbreaking. My daughter is 7 months old (she had an Omphalocele) and I still cry thinking about that time.
Thank for the update. Happy to hear you are doing well minus the scare. So hard to believe you’re almost 32weeks already. It won’t be long now. The news of not being able to hold her for so long has to be hard. Sounds like she’s in the best hands possible. Take good care and hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks for updating us! We weigh the same...only I'm not pregnant 🙄 My daughter went into early labor with her last 2 and needed the turbutaline injection. 🙏🙏 that the rest of the pregnancy will go smoothly and that you will have the best case scenario with everything!
Praying for you and that Precious Baby Girl. I have had both a c-section ( emergency after 4 days of labor - he was sideways, 10 lbs and too big to fit in the birth canal) and a natural birth with forceps and there is good and bad with both but the c-section is really not that bad! I am so impressed with how much you have researched and know about your baby's condition and what to inspect. And I am equally impressed at how calm you are as well. You and your little one will be in my prayers every day for a safe and uncomplicated delivery and that you both will be able to hold your sweet baby much sooner than 2 weeks after you give birth. Also, Congratulations and Very Best Wishes to you and Luke on your marriage. So happy for you. Luke sounds like a really awesome guy!
Anna...thanks for sharing this update. I think the fact that you are educating yourself and doing what you can to prepare yourself the best you possible can, given the circumstance is so reassuring to other moms regardless of whether their unborn baby's medical issues are the same or not. Your positive attitude is comforting and contagious. My daughter is 37 weeks and they have just detected a small hole in baby boys heart (VSD), his umbilical cord is slightly off center to the placenta and he is measuring small. With each bit of info we have all been unnerved a bit. Watching this video gave me a sence of calmness. Praying for you and baby girl. ❤
I had 2 c sections, i was in nervous wreck both times. My first son had to go to the nicu at a different hospital he wasn’t able to breath on his own I didn’t see him for the first 3 days. If you have a c section take it easy and do not over do it. I over did it the second time around and ended up going to wound care 6 months later because of a hole that wouldn’t close up. I will warn you that first time you get up will feel like you’ve been hit by a dang truck! It’s the worst but walking around definitely helps. You got this either way! ❤️
I completely understand that feeling of the NICU team taking your baby away immediately 😢i never had the typical experience with either of my girls. The first one was in the nicu for 3 days before i could get to see her. And 23 days before i could hold her. Its going to seem like such a long time! Im here to answer all your questions about nicu stays and c sections as ive had two of both! The size nees is HUGE! Grow girl grow! There was a baby with this condition in the first nicu while we were there! They went home before we did! We were in the nicu for 4 months... i was also very nervous and fearful of the csection but knowing that shes safer with a csection was all worth it for me. I follow some very helpful accounts on IG that I'll share with you! Nicu bedside procedures are totally common! TPN is so amazing! Our girl had a perforated esophagus that made her wait a week for the ng tube. So is the umbilical cord incorporated in the skin patch then? This is so neat to learn from you!
Also my first I had GD. They put me on a special diet with insulin at night. She was 7 lb 13 oz. I barely passed my glucose test with baby number 2 and with my history they did growth scans and sure enough he was measuring big so I had a scheduled c section at 39 weeks. He was 11 lb 7 oz . So yes even though they are just a rough estimate they usually aren't too far off when it comes to the guess of their weight 😅
My cousin and the drs had no idea that she would have a baby with gastroschisis until she was born. Baby is healthy and thriving almost 5 years but she wishes she would of had known to prepare instead her baby was rushed from the hospital she was born while her daughter was In the much 2 hours away at our closest children's hospital
