73 year old granny here. You are doing great and I'm admiring you and your confident, upbeat attitude. I'm with you all the way, girl!

My motto for my son's pregnancy was "There will be a time to worry, but now is not that time." And that got me through so much. One step at a time. One appointment, one scan, one thing. You guys got this!

I know I already commented but you’re doing amazing mama! I was born 5 weeks early with Gastroschisis, my mom had me at 18 and I had surgery right away! One closure surgery. 1 month in the NICU. Doing amazing now as a 23 year old nurse!

So interesting. I told you about my nephew who was born with Gastroschisis. They did not know he had it until birth and he was full-term! He had surgery with a relatively small scar. He is now 19. He had no complications. He is also 6"2'. I hope your daughter's journey goes as smoothly as his did! 🙏

I’m still amazed they didn’t see it until birth! I cannot imagine going into labor and then learning about it! I’m so glad everything worked out ❤

Anna, your story speaks so much to me. My daughter was born with a genetic disorder that we were not aware of during pregnancy. That came with two heart defects that were not detected during pregnancy. Hearing you find out all of this information during pregnancy, meeting with specialists, and all of that is giving me so much hope for you and so proud of you as a mom! You are already advocating for your daughter in such a big way and that is life changing and alters the outcome in so many ways. You are amazing!
@MidwestMom
@MidwestMom Год назад
Thank you! We were told there were a couple defects with the heart they cannot see until birth or after. I hope eventually they can find a way to see them before! That must’ve been very difficult to find out after the birth! 😢
@danachavez1486
@danachavez1486 Год назад
@@MidwestMom of course that’s what my daughter had. Just our luck lol. Thankfully the defect was a “better” one to have and an easy fix if you know it’s there (at birth with an echo). Our girl was 12 hours old and went into cardiac arrest, went on ECMO, all the sad things. I’m so glad you have this close monitoring! Praying for y’all!❤️

I am very sure your calmness and just your “presence” in this will be so beneficial for momma’s that see it in the future. I had different issues, but had to have an emergency C-section at 29 weeks. I have a lot of buried issues concerning it all. You even calmed me. Lol I hope that makes sense. Your whole energy and everything just screams “it’s all going to be ok”. I really don’t think anybody else could have delivered all this info better. This will be a blessing to so many, I just know it. Prayers for all y’all as always. Thanks for educating in the best way. 💙💙

I’m so so glad that you found a great Dr to answer all your questions and bring you some peace about all of this. I am also an RN (not tons of OB , L&D), I totally understand your anxiety about not having a plan … we are built for tasks, lists , plans etc etc. I have faith that you & Luke and your precious little girl will do fabulous no matter what scenario plays out. It also sounds like you have an amazing team of Dr’s and nurses supporting you and your sweet girl. The surgery team consult will be great preparation so you go in to delivery with as much knowledge as possible. Sending you all continued love, prayers and encouragement💕 from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦

You’re doing it Mama!! Your baby girl is soo lucky she got such an amazing, dedicated mama! I was high risk for different reasons and felt like I lived at the hospital starting at 32wks between the NSTs, BPPs, bloodwork etc BUT it made me feel so secure and at ease that should anything change we could deliver, made a big difference to my mental health & I hope it does for you too! Sending love and prayers✨

My son failed EVERY single NST from weeks 32-35 then started passing. He always passed the BPP. Then I read and confirmed by my doctor that it's really hard for baby's to pass at 32 weeks just because of their size. I left in tears so many times until I learned that! Just FYI in case you run into that too!
@MidwestMom
@MidwestMom Год назад
Wow! I’m glad you’re mentioning this because I haven’t heard this yet. This makes me feel good to know that the BPP was passed everytime! Did they immediately do the BPP after the failed NST? Or did you have to wait?

I had to go thru all of these things when pregnant with my third child. She had iugr ( she did not have what your daughter has only iugr) and they could never tell me anything for sure until she was born which was scary but she is a very healthy, normal sized 6 year old! I was monitored in Little Rock and the specialists there were amazing! My daughter was born at 35 weeks, 3 pounds 12 ounces. The appointments could get overwhelming especially bc I had horrible anxiety but it will go by fast. I also had steroid shots at 32 weeks I believe to help lung development. I know this isn’t the same as what you are going thru but just giving hope that sometimes going thru the scary stuff turns out better than you’d hoped❤️ my daughter never needed oxygen or anything just an 18 day nicu stay until she reached 4 pounds bc they will not let them go home before that. These babies are strong! Also prayer! Lots of prayer❤also I keep adding things but I had two vaginal births and she was a C-section bc we tried vaginal and she wasn’t able to handle it. I was so terrified and didn’t want a C-section but it was a breeze. Don’t be afraid either way.

It was really hard going through my pregnancy with my boy who had gastroschisis and I totally feel you on there being basically NOTHING on RU-vid from people’s personal journeys. @@MidwestMom He is doing great. :) he was born at 35 weeks via emergency c-section after a failed BPP and had his surgery a week after birth and stayed in the NICU for just shy of 8 weeks. For your upcoming appointments, things might change really drastically to everything looking great to things looking a little scary and then everything looking great again but you are in good hands and these specialists really know how to help these babies! My boy is 5 months old and other than some growth catching up to do, he’s doing very well! NICU stays are very intense so I would encourage you to read up on things that are good to have while your baby is there and when someone asks how they can help, really let them lend you a hand! You’re doing great and this journey will show you strength within yourself and your baby that you couldn’t imagine was possible. 💛

My son was born with gastroschisis. I had him at 35 weeks because they thought he had stopped growing. They weren’t able to put all of his intestines in with the first surgery bc he was so small (around 5 pounds) so they put a bag on it and did a second surgery a few weeks later. He ended up being in the NICU for 5 weeks. When he came home we did basically physical therapy and he did great. He grew up to be a normal sized athletic kid. Unfortunately, at 14-years-old (last October) he had a bowel obstruction caused by the scar tissue. That was a long scary road but he is doing much better now. 💗 Praying everything goes as smoothly as possible for your baby girl. Gastroschisis babies are strong little warriors. I’m so proud of my son. Big hugs. 💗

I had to wait 2 weeks to hold Maverick and 32 days to hold Scout. Unfortunately with Scout, it was the first and last time. But, they should start kangaroo care as soon as absolutely possible once she's stable. My NICU called it mommy medicine because most babies stats are better then being held by their mama.
