Character conflict is a core part of many stories, and it can be handled in different ways. Very often, especially when the characters in conflict are in positions of power, the conflict can get very personal, and aggressive. But it doesn't have to be that way. You very much can have very different characters, with different ideas of how to do things, have a more mature conflict, with pure motives--untainted by things like ego.
High School Fleet provides a great example of this, with the conflict in leadership styles between Akeno Misaki & Mashiro Munetani. Let's take a closer look.
