@re_i_gn

As someone who has watched every single one of these, I rate the main ones like this from most horrendous: "Strangers" (millennials)> Seniors > Teens The teens were mostly just annoying and majority of them had no good reason to get the money, while the seniors kicked out the ones who actually needed the money the most and the winners were overall very nasty. The millenials were literally just pure greed, hatred, and evil within the last 3 people. EDIT: there were 2 episodes w/ millennials, the worst is the very first one.

I'm with Ethan. I really don't think working 30-40 hours a week on top of school is healthy. It's just the capitalist lie that you HAVE to work as much as possible, all the time, no matter what, or else you're worthless. On top of that, college tuition as well as poverty also force many kids to work ridiculous hours. Kids at that age should be learning, exploring lots of different topics, hobbies, and figuring out what they're passionate about. Instead, many teens end up graduating college with literally no idea what they really want to do. Greatest country on Earth my ass.

Man, I was growing up eating potatoes and onions in ketchup because we were so broke. We couldn't pay the water for a long time so I had to shit in a bucket and get water and shower at a friend's house so my hair wasn't greasy at school. Still got hated on for wearing the same dirty clothes days in a row . AC broke at the house two summers in a row so we only had fans. This was all before the decrepit house caught fire and legit made us homeless. Even though this is truth, looking back it sounds so dramatic and exaggerated. I don't wish a hard adolescence on anyone, but I hope when they're older, they understand perspective.

I live in India and I feel so privileged after listening to everyone's stories, High school kids rarely work here(especially in cities) . To work and get a minimum wage, we need a basic degree which we only acquire after 18. So, it's highly unlikely for kids to work before that. Also our parents are expected to pay for our college fees and all dorm expenses and it's normal for us to stay with our parents even when we are 25. There's no pressure of moving out or anything at all.

It’s hard but having your first job in school is a rite of passage. You don’t make much because you’re not experienced or qualified, the hours are shit because you can’t work 9-5 being in school, you don’t get benefits because they assume you’re under your parents and you don’t work enough hours to qualify or the company needs you to pay out of your small pay cheque as is. It sucks because it’s a preview of the real world to motivate you to get a good education and good job and to push you to work hard. What’s the worst is working those jobs and then having to lay your entire pay down to rent and food with nothing left over; it’s a terrible life

I worked 32-40 hours during high school. I started at 15. I think it was good for me because it taught me a lot. I could talk to anyone of any age, I had bills to pay because my mom was a single mom and so I paid my own way which taught me discipline and how to be responsible with money. It also taught me the value of money. My two sisters lived with my dad so they didn’t have to work and he bought them each 2 cars after they both crashed their first cars. It took them a very long time to understand the value of money because they didn’t have to work for it and they had their lives paid for. I’m now 37 and I had a bad accident a few years ago that has left me permanently disabled. Because I worked for almost 20 years I get a social security check every month if I hadn’t started working so early I wouldn’t get a thing.

So many of my friends do not have the opportunity to do so and are so so sad and depressed at the prospect of a bleak, uneducated, life still in poverty. Part time jobs dont pay well so it takes hours to earn that back on your check and then you have to work even more to make a profit. That shit adds up and it’s honestly annoying that no one in the crew or ethan himself realized that. I’ve had a job since I was sixteen. Full time school and 30-40 hrs of work always. Lol kids shouldn’t have to work but it is normal now and they do. Part of the problem is how low minimum wage is. If these kids are trying to compensate at home or save up even a little bit, it’s going to take a lot of hours at 7.25/hr minus the cost of getting to work/food and the spending a kid might do. Even a responsible kid will spend a little money and that would eat up whole checks most likely. I worked part time, for fun, for one semester. My mom let me for the experience. We were definitely not above the poverty line but my mom was able to take care of me like “normal” where I don’t have to make money or feel the need to necessarily in a survival way. My cousin, whose 10 years younger than me, just started working at 16. Her moms a mess and has always been. My cousin had to start paying for her own phone, rent and some bills when she started working. I think that’s ridiculous because she barely makes any money, so I’m pretty sure they’re taking it all, and she’s not really even able to save or benefit from it. I just think that’s insane to put on your child. So sad. I’m planning to move her in with us asap but it might not be until next school year. I feel bad that she feels the need to work so much and then can’t even reap the benefits. I’m hoping to move her in with me and get her a really great paying job. But I’m going to be letting her know in the mean time that her mom will be foaming at the mouth once she actually has real money coming in. And idk that she’ll be strong enough to say no to her mom. He mom doesnt need the money like that, she’s just irresponsible, not actually desperate. Anyway. There are alot of parent like that. It’s disturbing. #murica

I was 17 and a floor manager of a restaurant. I lived so far out of town, there was no busses. and taxis were so unreliable because it was a small town and only one service. I walked 30/40 mins a day to work and school lol. eventually I started taking a $30 cab ride to work or school.. everyday. I was at school 6 hours a day. then worked 9 hours a day. and often picked up shifts and worked 6/7 days a week because I knew I needed it. then walked or cabbed home at midnight everyday.. I just brought everything for work with me to school and went straight to work. my school was great. they allowed me to do all my work at my own pace and time and leave early to go to work occasionally. I paid rent and everything by myself. so, they understood. thankfully. it happens. it sucks. the world we live in

I worked full time at a restaurant in high school starting the week I turned 16, my coworkers and I were always bringing our homework to work on when it was slow. Most of my friends worked a lot as well. It’s def allowed in California.

I work at a McDonald's and a huge majority of the kids are 16/17 and they are some of the hardest workers ever. You can't tell that they're kids and they are just amazing. A lot of work out of necessity, because of their families or something else. I'm 24, so in no way in school but I know that I could never do school and work at that age. Yes, they do work 40 hour weeks, some of them, but school started a day ago, so I think here it's like 30.

I worked as a bobarista from 14 to 18 while taking multiple AP classes and to say the least…I regret it. Although I kept up with my grades, I wish I had the regular teenage experience.
