HIGH SPEED BULLET TRAIN Beijing to Shanghai: An amazing ride at 350 kmh. I try a shake test on board

** Quite a few people have said the crossing described at the Yellow River is wrong because the river isn't wide enough. The footage was shot just before arriving at Jinan West station. Looking at Google satellite imagery, the river is crossed at a narrow point of the river, with just a 3-span bridge around 950m long, so I think the title used in the video is correct. ** I do appreciate your comments!
Come and enjoy a first class ride on a first class train. China's high-speed line from Beijing South to Shanghai Hongqiao at 350 kmh. I try a shake test at top speed and can't believe how smooth the ride is.

@@kit266022 According to my friend who is working for JR central Japan, the routine running speed in Japan's most profitable (aka popular) line, from Tokyo to Osaka, runs at around 250km/h-280km/h (as I remember), whereas most of the high-speed railway called "goatie" in the Chinese railway system runs at 300km/h+, some at 350km/h (used to be 400+ in 2014), the locomotive which has similar appearance with the Japanese one in China is now even not considered at real "high speed railway", it's called "Dongche" (abbr. for a group of cars with self-motivation in each car), those usually run at 220-250km/h. It is a public consensus in the industry that every tiny margin of speed increase in this system requires a significant improvement on technology. So basically the train being used the most in China is several generations ahead of the Japanese one. How can China steal a technology that is not yet developed by Japan? If you were to mention the mostly last-gen tech in those "Dongche", China purchased them from Kawasaki and Simens. Next time before you spitting BS on China's face, make sure you check your facts. I hope I didn't wasted all this time typing in this comment, you know I can instead just call you a 傻逼, but I choose to be reasonable with you.

In China most of the railway station resembles an airport. The smart uniform of the train attendant looks like an air stewardess. The train were engineered and made in China with the latest Chinese technology. I once rode from Beijing to Tianjin, very clean and smooth journey.

I agree exactly. I did think it was like flying without wings - the huge stations, the speed and the smart attendants. I did see some attendants on a platform at Beijing and I had to look twice. I have been to China too and yes I was amazed by the train infrastructure , the speed of the construction of the total train network blew me away. I have to say the 350km/hour does not feel like you are travelling at that speed. The Shanghai city down town at night is amazing too, the Maglev train is the future for trains. Japan and China are building some more to make connections between some cities faster. The full day of travel does take it out of you , yes its hot & sticky for a westerner especially when you are on the underground, I do love Shanghai but I often wonder whats going to happen when sea levels rise. Excellent video brought back some happy memories of China.

@@MrDavidcanet The upper part of the wing of the aircraft is a flat surface and the lower part is a curved surface. When the aircraft is taxiing on the runway, the air will be cut, and the air velocity above the wing will be greater than the air velocity below. According to the Bernoulli effect, the higher the flow velocity, the lower the pressure. The pressure under the wing of the aircraft is stronger than the upper one. When the pressure difference is large enough, it can take off. The same is true for trains. Two trains run at high speed, and the airflow in the middle is fast so the pressure becomes smaller, so the train will tilt to the side, which is the suction you feel. But don’t worry, if the train is heavy enough, the two trains will soon separate. The most important thing is that billions of Chinese people take the high-speed rail safely every year. This is the most authoritative security guarantee. This is my sentence using translation software. I hope you can understand and resolve your doubts. Hong Kong is also a city in China that attracted a lot of tourists in the past, but there have been too many violent protests in Hong Kong recently. Tourists are not recommended to stay in Hong Kong. I personally recommend transiting through Hong Kong to Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Guangzhou (cities in Guangdong province). There is a high-speed railway. Tourists can travel from Hong Kong International Airport to Kowloon Station by Airport Express (this is a fast train but not the high-speed railway the media refers to), and then walk along a covered footbridge with good signage to the Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, which is the high-speed railway station. There are always sufficient seats on high-speed railway trains, so there is no need to reserve in advance. I recommend travelling by High Speed Rail to Futian Station which is in the CBD of Shenzhen.

@@PlanesTrainsEverything I'll tell you. Changsha, Hunan province, November 1998. Very hazy and you could smell the pollution. Blow your nose after being outside for a while, and your snot would come out black. Fast forward 20 years and the pollution, while by no means perfect, seems a lot better. At least in the summer time, it is not a major issue in my experience.

Nice video. I have been in China many times. Both business and holiday. Last time that I was in China, I messed up my ticket for the train from Beijing to Shanghai. I took the train that only did 310 km/ hour. My mistake. Shanghai is an amazing place. I haven't been up on the really tall new building..... Next year :-) Even took a train from Beijing to Urumqi and returned to Shanghai a few years ago. Have a look where Urumqi is. Keep up the good work. :-)

Blimey that train between Beijing and Shanghai was amazing. Bit different to one I rode from Shanghai to Beijing around 1995. Overnight train, doubt it went more than 60mph. First class sleeper compartment felt like it was right out of the 1950's. Lace curtains and little metal fans whirring all night. You don't want to know about the lavatories. Passed several freight trains being hauled by large steam engines. Also passed several farms in the early morning hours where farmers were using water buffalos to work the fields and rice paddies. I didn't see one mechanical tractor. Arriving in Beijing, the plaza outside the station was a sea of several hundred people, including families with children, all camped out on the plaza. They were all migrant workers from rural areas of China coming to seek employment and were often stuck in the plaza for days, weeks on end. I admired their resolve to find a better life. Amazing what they have achieved in the construction of high speed railways all over the country in such a short time.

In 1993 the average railway speed for passanger train is only 30mph in China. Later in 1997, after the first national wide railway speed up program,the fastest train between Beijjng and Shanghai have max 140kph speed and average 90kph speed(at least according to the program's goal),so in 1995 the fastest train between Beijing and shanghai is much slower 60mph

I balanced a coin on its edge on that train too.... Was the older grey generation but they ran at 350kph also until they were slowed down.. Supposedly one was tested before the line was opened on a long, like 160 km straightaway, governors disabled and central cars removed and they wanted to see how fast it could be made to go..It hit like 517....

Reading some of those not so friendly comments, I really miss the "global village" time in the 80s and 90s. People were much kinder and friendlier to the international travelers back then. The atmosphere around the world has become so political nowadays, even a simple travel vlog expressing appreciation for the marvelous bullet trains would turn into a battleground for these political comments... :(

@PlanesTrainsEverything 3 года назад
Hi Elaine and thanks for your comment. There have certainly been some divided opinions on that video about China and what they have achieved regarding high-speed trains. I think social media has made it much easier for everyone to voice an opinion. No matter how you look at Chinese politics, you can't be anything but impressed with what has been achieved regarding their high speed rail network.
