On 26 September 2013, leaders from the UN's core group of countries working to end violence and discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people met in New York for the first-ever ministerial meeting at the UN on LGBT rights. Here, Free & Equal -- the unprecedented UN public information campaign for LGBT equality -- captures strong statements by several attendees, who included the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the U.S. Secretary of State, the Argentine, Brazilian, Croatian, Dutch and Norwegian foreign ministers, the French Minister of Development Cooperation, senior officials from the European Union, Japan and New Zealand, and the directors of Human Rights Watch and the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.
Those present issued an historic Ministerial Declaration on Ending Violence and Discrimination against Individuals Based on their Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. The declaration was endorsed by the U.S. Secretary of State, the foreign ministers of Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, El Salvador, France, Israel, Japan, The Netherlands, New Zealand and Norway, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union.

When you've spent your life being the joke too dirty to tell, when beatings and deaths of your people aren't talked about because those people who were hurt were considered too unseemly to be brought up, when you've known, and I mean had actual proof that your life had less value than other lives, hearing people of power say this and want to make your life better means more than you can ever know. To hear "Human rights" and know they mean us too is so profound, words just can't say it.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all these United Nations representatives who have exercised your prerogative to make this statement in support of my right to exist freely, as a citizen of the World, equal to other human beings on this Earth.

The universal declaration of human rights promises a world in which everyone is free and equal in dignity and rights with no exception no one left behind for being who they are but the only problem is change in people's heart and mind will take us years because of the misuse of religion and cultural hostility to harm innocent people who didn't choose to be who they are

"Share if your believe LGBT Rights are Human Rights"? No, I believe that LGBTI Rights are Human Rights. Ignoring, forgetting about or excluding intersex people must end now. At least Navi Pillay said the word intersex. Tragic that the others did not.

Which of these two gods is correct? Catholic God: Birth Control and Divorce are condemned as sinful Anglican God: Birth Control and Divorce are NOT condemned Clearly these two gods cannot be one and the same on any rational basis. Let me know which you choose.

Derek Williams If God exists, what makes you think he exists according to your preferences? Surely we can’t “choose” which God we like, he would be divine. (I happen to not believe in conventional religion)

@@user-xy4ff5yp7b GOD has a simple rule. Be kind to others. GOD divinity does not live in anyones preference nor HIS preference. It lives only for the spirit of the society as a whole. That being said, Gay couple having a family, raising a children to be kind and loving and eventually become a good contributor in the society----this is where you can find the divine guidance of GOD--a truly blessed family. We should reaffirm our fundamental understanding of what is relevant in building the kingdom of GOD that bestowed upon us. Divorce can cause heartbreaks but if handle with care where every parties can move on and be inspired to live a better life--thats GODs divine blessing. Again, this isnt about personal preference, this is about widen the range of our concern. Birth control not only can danger the lives of the woman but also can switch the couple intemacy from love to lust. And we all know romance when abused can depreciate and lost. Consummation of love should be with divine purpose. GODBLESS. 🙂

That's according to your religion, but I can name you 35 Christian religions that accept Homosexuality as a God-given trait, and welcome LGBT with open arms, hearts and minds as parishioners with full sacraments, ordain as clergy and perform same sex marriage. There is no "One God", the god of different religions disagree with the other gods. For example, Catholic God condemns Birth Control and Divorce, where as Anglican God was created by divorcee King Henry VII and is ok with family planning.

Some of the fundamental teachings of Christ were to love thy neighbor and turn the other cheek. If Christ does exist, what makes you better than him? Jesus never mentioned homosexuality in his teachings. Plus he died for the sins of man, which in turn make the old testaments teachings moot.

Prove your religion is right, and all these others are apostate. You want to quote CORINTHIANS? 14:34 "Women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but should be submissive." And since you're a believer: Here is what Jesus has to say to religious bigots like you: "Do not judge others, or you yourself will be judged. You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." MATTHEW 7:5
