60k in options is just insane to even think about. Some people have just way too much money lying around and often leads to a complete disregard of good taste. But credit where it's due, that custom color and fabric seat pattern is simply incredible. Kudos to the owner.

Awesome car, Nick! Originally sold (and likely re-sold to your friend) at the dealership in Colorado Springs! My favorite Targa build ever! I rode in this car at Pueblo Motorsports Park where we out-pulled a 2016 GT3RS on the straight. (Altitude/low air density hurts the normally aspirated RS).

I love Targa's! My 991 C2S coupe is nice but I still think about how easy it is to get into and out of a Targa with the top down. I've been lucky to have owned two of them back in the day; a 1977 S and a 1980 SC. I still remember my first day-long drive and looking in the rear view mirror, after driving all day without the top, and seeing what looked like a lobster. By then it was too late, I was cooked by the sunshine... Yes, the memories!

This is unquestionably the most desirable 911 variant. History will look very kindly on the gentleman that configured this car. Out of all the garish GT3/RS, GT2s this is the ONE car that is configured correctly. Some of the interior bits can be tossed but non of the aesthetic choices take anything from this car. Excellent car. Decent video. 👍🏽

My god the spec😍!!! The only thing I would have done differently to this awesome retro spec is to put some black and silver Fuchs wheels on it. I think you can even get them with centrelocks now

The 911 is the kind of car I want when I grow up, whenever that might happen. I was born in 1953 (the same year as the Corvette and Playboy magazine), but it seems I've lusted after the 911 ever since.

The Rube Goldberg designed removable roof is a thing of beauty to watch when in motion. It adds 200lbs of high-cg weight to the rear of the already ass heavy 911, something I wouldn't think Porsche would endorse doing. I wonder how a 911 with a one piece boot-stowed manually removable roof would perform.

Every time I see all of the mechanical movement and the many electric motors needed to put the Targa top up or down, I envision a broken part that is undoubtedly crazy expensive to fix. I sincerely hope that Porsche made these parts strong and bullet proof. Because I want a Targa 911!

Porsche sold under 10,000 of all 911s in the US during 208.. Small portions of those were the GTS variants. They are all wicked fast, outstanding on the road, and the couple is particularly well-suited to the track given its stiffness. The cabriolet and targa are not as stiff for obvious reasons, but with PDDC it will perform. The winning track/performance configuration is coupe with rear wheel steering with torque vectoring and PDDC with PASM Sport suspension. You will spend around $165,000. I do not notice any lag with the larger turbos. What I notice is outstanding speed off the line and acceleration. If anyone is experiencing noticeable lag, you must be driving in the wrong gear. I only drive in manual mode. Sound--the car sounds awesome and is actually LOUDER than the C4/C4s The 991.2 GTS is magnificent, and I believe the absolute sweet spot in the 911 line. I am not alone in this thinking. It's my second Porsche, and I doubt that I will let this one go.

I've always loved the targa. I remember one of the bad guys in the 80s movie Commando had a yellow one.

Options Cost Graphics = VERY well done indeed........wow, some big numbers. Beautiful Blue version......even softened your GTS stance.....everyone has a price

I used to not like the Targas but this one looks pretty awesome.

People knock the 911's extraneous options but they look fantastic once specced. They made some very interesting 997.2 spec with the fun trim and colors.

my mind is blown by the upgrade prices,, i like your reviews would be a laugh to see one on an old bmw 330ci , like mine that cost a mere three grand,, kinda shocked how easily that interior got damaged though for that money id want it to take a bit of use

I've always had a soft spot for Targas

Basically my dream car. (In the dream category of possibly attainable dreams.)

Little note abut the suspension, Porsche do not install the (PASM) Sport Suspension (20 mm Lower) on GTS cabriolet and GTS Targa because of the possible chassis noise developing over time. That's why it's important to add the PDCC when ordering a Targa or a convertible. When Porsche lend me a 991.2 GTS convertible with PDCC, it was mandatory to put it on all the time I was driving fast otherwise it felt like driving a 1974 Impala land barge (I may exaggerate a little bit...). When I took delivery of my 991.2 GTS coupe, the feeling was far more superior than the convertible even with PDCC on because of the chassis stiffness and (PASM) Sport Suspension (20 mm Lower).

I might consider the houndstooth seats over a stereo or air conditioning...I love them that much!

Hey Nick, great review as always! Oh boy is this 911 loaded of options! Those leather covered air vents made me think about the poor cows!! Just kidding. I do prefer your car's looks though. By the way on the specs you said that the transmission was PDK but then I saw you pulling the gear lever. For a second I thought, is he nuts!? changing from Park to Drive on the go!! Hahaha. The Targa is beautiful. If I were driving one as my daily I wouldn't spend a moment thinking about the weight of the glass and B-Pillar. Opening the targa top to Strauss seems fitting.

The vents in leather?! LOL That is over the TOP. Even if this was a Rolls Royce that would be a bit much.
