Tag along as we hike to one of the tallest peaks in North Idaho - Scotchman Peak in the Idaho portion of the Cabinet Mountains! Sitting at just over 7,000 feet high at the summit, this hike made for a strenuous climb. From the trail head to the summit, we climbed approximately 3,700 feet in just under five hours. This hike is an eight mile round trip!
The hike started out open and clear and we could see for miles. However about 2/3's of the way up the mountain, the clouds rolled in and covered our views once we made it to the top. Overall this was an awesome hike and we're hoping to get back on the trail and try it again one of these days.
For more information on the hike, check out the Idaho Conservation website here: www.idahoconse...
Completed this hike on Sunday June 23rd, 2019.

I see you did Scotchman so I have a trail for you just west of there. it is the #120 trail. I was on the crew that repaired about 4-5 miles of it back around 1975. I have never seen anyone do a video on this trail. it is a horiz trail but still it was rugged. don't know about it now. overall from roundtop above Trestle Creek it travels along the ridges clear to Beetop over Clark fork approx 18 miles? there was a road about midpoint junction (camp spot) so heading east that would be a good 5 hour hike in with views of Pend Oreille all the way. there was one spot along the trail that had water back then. We rocked it into a fill station. this would be a great two-day trip camping near the waterhole. stay safe.

I will definitely be looking this up. It sounds right up my alley. Sometimes these less popular trails have the best views. It would be fun to get up there and film this one for you sometime, as I bet it would be pretty nostalgic. Thanks for the suggestion!

I found it! This look like a fun thru-hike with some cool side trips. It'd be awesome to find where you rocked in the water fill station.

@@DannyJSchaefer you might also like trail #69 Green Monarchs trail. it goes along the east side of pend oreille lake along the high top ridges you see from clarks fork looking south.

@@videosrfun4me189 I’m looking to do this as a one day long Thru-hike this year. I’m looking forward to it. Any better information on where your rocked in water hole may be located?

@@DannyJSchaefer the spring was on the north side of the trail about 3 miles in from the road junction up from big lightning creek road. its right on the trail. you might want to hike up to lunch peak. there was a spring at the junction of pend oreille peak and the trail on the ridge. its like a mini meadow 50 feet down eastwards. you can see lake darling from the ridge, you can also walk north to grouse creek trail. there is a nice waterfall on the upper grouse creek. bring bear spray especially in the fall. stay safe
