Wisconsin's Devil's Lake State Park hosts over 2.5 million visitors annually. It is the largest and most visited of the Wisconsin State Parks -- it is also the third oldest, having opened in 1911. The park provides stunning views from 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a 360-acre lake. Visitors will find 29 miles of hiking trails at Devil's Lake State Park, including a segment of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. These are some of the best Madison area hikes and some of the best hikes in Wisconsin.
The CCC Trail at Devil's Lake climbs Devil's Lake's East Bluff. The trail is only .3 miles (about .5 kilometers), but it's a steep climb on stone steps. Along the way, hikers will get up close-up views of the talus fields, without having to actually navigate them, and a great view of the lake.

You had us at "CCC" - we normally try to check out any CCC trail if available - Looks like a rocky fun time! We have a lot of those rocky trails here in PA - they just add to the hike in our opinion! Loved the rock river - those are so much fun to come across! Impressive that the CCC moved the rock by hand - so much work was done by those boys..........it is incredible what they all did for our park services....The East Bluff was a stunning overlook!

I know y'all are CCC appreciators, just like I am! I was pretty amazed when I found out this was all done by hand! There are three trails up the East Bluff at Devil's Lake, and they are all steep, rocky fun. The West Bluff is a little less aggressive but still beautiful. I'm going to be doing some hiking out East next month... Are you going to be around PA in the later part of July?

It took me around 2 hours to get to the park, too 😂 The park definitely gets more crowded as the day goes on, though, so it becomes more difficult to get clean shots from the best viewpoints. There are about 30 miles of trails in this park, so it's definitely worth considering! There are some other great natural areas in this part of the state, as well... I'd be happy to give you a couple of suggestions. Thanks for following along, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Beautiful hike! Really enjoyed how green this area was. Very cool with all of the rocks also! Enjoyed the music choice a lot on this one. Your camera is looking very sharp, did you recently upgrade?

So glad you enjoyed it! This has always been one of my favorite hiking destinations within a couple hours of where I grew up. Really appreciate the feedback on the soundtrack 👍 I've settled on a GoPro for moving shots... the footage is more stable than my mirrorless camera and better quality than what I can get from my phone. For locked down shots, I'm still using a Sony a7iii, but I've transitioned to using exclusively manual focus because I've found it to be worth the small amount of extra time and effort. Always appreciate you taking the time to watch and your thoughtful comments! Hope you have an awesome weekend!

Nobs little collab there with hike one paint one ! They was already idea . Such a lovely state park and opened over 100yrs ago, can see why it's the most visited, its si beautiful waking through the trees and up near those rocks . I was amazed that you did all of that before 9am Mike ! Great video and great art on that rock that you placed for your friend ~ Anna

Thank you very much! The birds at the beginning were great blue herons... I also saw some peregrine falcons and turkey vultures throughout the day at Devil's Lake, which I'll share footage of in the future. Appreciate you following along for this one, and I hope you have an outstanding weekend!

Great work by the ccc workers awesome straight up trail. Great rock formations and views. I loved the painted rock too. Devil's lake State Park looked awesome too. Hike one paint one does amazing work

What an awesome looking state park. Love all the rocks! The views from the top were gorgeous! Moi! We had one of his rocks as well, he does great work! We put ours in a state park in Georgia! lol But havent posted that video yet, we are behind :) Great share, hope someone finds your rock!
