Hi everyone!
I have this habit of constantly checking the live webcams in Bay Area just to see how the weather is daily. Even if I can't make it to the beach everyday, I try to watch the sunrise and sunset on my laptop or phone. I like to observe weather patterns and kind of practice my photography skills. Over the past years I became very accurate in predicting a good sunrise or sunset. I haven't heard any other photography channels talking about the importance of weather cams around the world for planning a photo shoot. Anyways... Last Sunday I woke up with no real plans other than a coffee walk in the morning.
I saw this crazy fog rolling in to the coast. But It is nothing unusual for Bay Area. We get fog almost everyday. I kept on checking every few hours. About 3 hours before sunset I saw that coastal sky was clearing up rapidly. Never seen the fog clearing up around that time. I got so excited cause I knew it was moving towards the Santa Cruz Mountains and I could get some crazy light from West while walking in fog.
I got the cameras ready. Again the usual suspects, Canon R6 with RF 16mm f2.8 and Fuji XT3 with Fujinon 23mm f2. While I was driving, I was still watching the sky. Fog was even faster than I thought. It was moving towards South. I drove to one of my favorite Redwood parks and started hiking.
There were only a few cars in the parking lot and I saw all hikers were leaving because of the bad weather. It was crazy foggy. I got so much more excited! I like to enter a park when everyone else is leaving.
In about 10 mins everything I imagined started happening. Crazy light beams, short showers, a nice breeze... It was all there as I pictured in my mind. That intro scene is one of the coolest moments of this year. I felt like I met with my imagination right at that point. I am gonna call moments like this as "PhotoVerse". I had a real PhotoVerse moment.
So, this is an unexpected short video that came out of that experience. I was actually editing another video that morning but this just happened. I quickly edited and uploaded.
I hope you all enjoy it!
Have a wonderful weekend/day/year!
Best,
Baris
