Just how good is the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 on twisty mountain roads? I try and find out while riding from Delhi to Kufri in Himachal Pradesh on an overnight trip with my friends in sweltering 40 degrees.
I cancelled my booking even though I still had the December '23 price. Having experienced many punctures in remote areas of Himachal/UT, I would rather wait till the tubeless rims are made available. As soon as they're available, I'll be picking up one.
@@abhinavbhattI saw you make the same comment on that podcast with that 23 fellow.. a little surprised by your take, because I rarely see you making excuses for minor flaws.. wouldn’t you want your machine to do the basics right ? P. S. This right side pull could be a batch issue, I recently rode 3 different H450s and the only one pulling right was RE’s test mule at the showroom. The other 2 were both booked in April and delivery happened within 3weeks for both. Both of them didn’t have that issue.
@@vatsal1793 I don't see a scenario where I am riding without holding the handlebars. So I see no big deal in this. If the bike had cruise control then it would have bothered me, but not as of now.
@@abhinavbhatt fair point.. Weirdly enough the 650 twins also had that death wobble issue for quite some time..! BTW your H450 post mods is exemplary. Did you try to fix the right pull issue or just decided to move on with more important stuff?

Hi Abhinav, i am planning on getting the new Himalayan for long distance touring purposes. I wish to get wider tyres front and rear. From 90 mm to 100 at the front and 140 to 150 at the reae. Would it be advisable and what should i look out for??
Abhinav I have seen you commuting in areas of Vasant Kunj so just asking, for this specific area to commute and such would the scrambler 400X be more comfortable or the himalayan 452 itself?
Online it shows price of 4,200/- for a pair of mirrors, I can see some of them ranging from 12k-14k online is it same you have been using for your himalayan 450? Or it comes with some sort of kit?
Just one thing I wanted to ask since you are technical. I have clocked about 2700kms on my himalayan, got the fuel x pro plus installed. I start to get a bit of tappet noise, is that something that I should worry about or is best ignored till next service?
Would you have any idea of the fuel economy that Yudhvir got with his "sedate" riding style? Would that be significantly higher than what you got? I am assuming his bike is near stock. ps: He looked pretty smooth through the corners.
Be wary anyone looking at this bike. The vibrations are UNCOMFORTABLE, and are everywhere. So if you're looking for a bike mostly for tarmac usage, perhaps avoid this. Even in city, you'd find the older Him better as that had oodles of low end torque. This you'd have to keep the engine above at least 3k to 4k rpm to get into the meat of torque. Below that this feels feeble.
