I already have a BS4 & BS6 both tuned similarly to yours but not quite as high specification. The BS4 is mainly off road & the BS6 (with a 16 tooth front sprocket) is used for touring & I have ordered a 450 for next Spring (hopefully available by then in UK). I shall definitely be keeping the BS4 for dedicated off roading and will keep the BS6 until I know if the 450 can replace it - if not I’m sure I will be able to sell the 450 on without too great a loss. I very much enjoy the videos of two wheels Ben - keep them coming 👍
They say, the new Himalayan 452 is a successor model... No, it isn't!! It's a complete new bike with a new frame, a new engine and a new character.. So it is, another bike. Go on making such wonderful videos about the real and original Himalayan!! best wishes, stay tuned, Peter
ABSOLUTELY, the new bike has nothing similar to the original and everyone who praised the original in the first place, have suddenly started criticising it for no reason. The cradle frame , the long stroke , the slim silhouette, the TRACTOR FACTOR, the easy to work bike , the OPEN TO MODS /customisation factor, the industrial design one fine day means nothing because the brand decides to KILL it with a totally new bike with its name ( part of the strategy). The original, existed comfortably with the modern day OVER SQUARE LIQUID COOLED engines this far and will continue to do so.
I enjoy the passion and humor of your videos. My 2022 411 is staying pretty much stock. NGK plug, Motul oil, a little more aggressive tires (D605) and soft saddlebag racks. At 70, it's my only transport doing 25% off road. I'm having so much fun. Thanks for the many suggestions for improving your ride and especially the maintenance instructions. Much appreciated......
Hello bro, I have been following your channel even before I brought my Himmy and even though I knew a new version was on the horizon. It is not about the new things, it is about the care you put in your existing things. Nice to see someone who has spend hours with a good and different perspective. Bro keep sharing your experiences! Much love!
Really appriciatie your hard work you put on your each video to bring so much knowledge to us, I have learnt many things from your video. Altough you did all these thing as a fan boy not for any marketing I am really shocked how RE missed you and these great content, not inviting you yet for those test rides. I don't like RE's PR team and also their service centers too.
10:51 The chassis cracking, frame breaking was a legit issue with the BS3 Himalayan, I have never seen a Suzuki, Yamaha cracking up their frames. Let me ask you, what do you do in terms of maintenance on the chassis or frame of the motorcycle? To put things in perspective, a Japanese motorcycle runs for years, with comparatively low maintenance, according to the owners of a Yamaha or a Suzuki. Do they end up cracking the frames of their Yamaha or Suzuki's? The answer is a big NOOOO, I mean the whole point of owning a Japanese motorcycle, is low maintenance. The Japanese takes things seriously during the design phase of the product, where sadly RE has been really negligent, ignorant when it comes to the 411 Himalayan. You can be a die hard fan of RE (even I am) but you can't neglect the fact, that the 411's first batch was worse in a lot of aspects. With the Interceptor's and the GT's, RE has upped their game when it comes to Quality checks.
I always knew that Ben would never sell his OG Himalayan for the new one. Look at that machine with all the mods! Why would anyone sell that black beauty for a new machine! I have learnt a lot from your videos Ben. It helped me to keep my Himmi in top notch condition and the bike kept me happy too! But not everyone has done the kind of mods you have done and people have different requirements and it seems like the new Himalayan will be another successful product for RE! And I have to say this, your Ben is definitely a stunner than the new Himmi. 😍
Agree with you on the Ride by Wire for offroading and the lack of a tail light. I can still be ok with the RbW cos I'll be primarily using for touring but I don't like the lack of a tail light. If the indicator breaks, you don't have a tail light and people behind arent used to it. Having said that I will be buying one once the tubeless rims are made available. I have had punctures in the most remote place in the Himalayas so never again with the tubes. And I have an Xpulse which I'll be modding extensively for offroad riding.
Really my Himalayan always gives me smile every time the only thing i can definitely say that is if you take ultra care as ben do the bike wont disappoint you man really hell of a machine
I've riden on the original Himalayan on and off roads throughout the Western USA, it's a solid bike. However it's not a freeway cruiser, it barely has enough horses to get out if the way. It's a shame RE didn't just add the option for a bigger engine to the original. The original Himalayan has a unique look and set's it apart from the rest of the competitors. Perhaps the new Sherpa 452 will be a good bike for those places in the world, that need that extra horse power. However it's not quite a KLR 650 killer. To bad really, it would appear that RE has missed again for the Western world market's. A bike that can travel at highway speeds and transition to off road without modification. It would appear that Kawasaki still has that segment tied up. I guess if we make it to 2026 then perhaps RE will get another chance to beat the best all around bike ever made, the KLR 650. Namaste 🙏
Hey Ben, did you notice any kind of decrease in the sharpness of the engine after installing the ProSpec easy clutch? As if the clutch plate is slipping(not engaging perfectly)?
Bro... I started upgrading my HIM BS3 which I love a lot after seeing your videos.... I did manage to install the ProSpec the short one after seeing your video.... ya as you said I need more time to fine tune it... its taking good shape now.... I won't be selling her rather I will upgrade it.... It has no electronics and I fiddle around the carburettor any time I want.... Thanks for the tips and upgrade videos... Now I have an idea of what to look for...
I agree with your assessment Ben. I was very disappointed to see the ride by wire as well. As far as I know it was to add the pretty much useless rider modes. I will be keeping my BS4 and will be skipping this bike. Perhaps if the community manages to fix the ride by wire with a cable, but I love the simplicity of the original Himalayan, and there is no replacement
