I have a question, you have a webpage saying you cannot recommend because of post sale support and service, Is that you? Because im deciding between Rad and this and im leaning towards a Himiway.
One thing I noticed was the Kenda tires are really great! I put 20lbs into them when I first got it, and I find that riding off-road is actually smoother than on asphalt. The 4" fat tires are great! I also have fenders on my Himiway. The pedal assist does go into 0 if you just hit the down arrow after powering on. I tried all of the pedal-assist settings and I like the 0-7 setting best for me. I also put a THUMB throttle on my Himiway. When I received the Himiway there was oil all over the inside of the box. I traced it to the fork and wrote Himiway, after a month of back and forth, they sent me another fork. I replaced it last weekend. Not too hard but time-consuming.
I really like this bike. This bike has longer range battery, more power, and more accessories. In particular, the bike also has a rear rack, which is not available in other stores.
@@dude1836 Ordered in October, website says it will be delivered in November. Have not received yet and winter will come soon. I will followup when I can put it through its paces.
@@traildogtn1 thank you for this information, I am actively researching this bike, and I am interested in knowing what you think about it as well. I am reading everything I can find, which very much includes user reviews.
Bought the bike a couple weeks ago and have about 39 miles on the odometer. So far I'm very happy with the bike itself. The main issue that might arise is having to deal with customer support that is based entirely in China and having to deal with language barriers. For the most part though, they have been courteous and as helpful as they can be.
Thanks for the review! I have been looking to get an electric off-road bike for a while now. Your reviews really help! For the price, this bike looks like a great option.
One advantage of this model compared to most RAD and other ebikes is that it is rated up to 350 lbs rather than 275. That is important to us gravity-challenged folks.
I bought this bike yesterday because of your great review! It should come in 2 weeks. I actually have watched 50 or so reviews in preparation to purchase an e-bike. This is a lot of features for a relatively inexpensive e-bike. I should say that this will be my 2nd e-bike and I now know everything (haha) I need to have for my personal use. I am 75 years old 6'1" and 260lbs. This e-bike is rated for 350 lbs which are significantly more than most e-bikes! The derailleur and brakes are not as good as other e-bikes in the 2K+ range. The options included will come in very handy. Overall am I expecting too much? Time will tell!
@@Hoggdoc1946 Hey Hogg, Yes I did get it after a bunch of delays! First, they forgot me and then gave me a shipping notice after 2 months...then it never left the warehouse, I think it was stolen. Electric Boarding Co. was great, they sent me one from their Florida location and I finally got it in January. Then I sold my first e-bike in Feb. Now I await the good weather so I can ride.
someday post a review with a rider that weighs more than 150 # and taller than 5' 7" when some aneimic twiggy says it pulled me right up the hill it means nothing to a 6' tall 225# man
You really do great reviews! The only trouble with a Himiway is they probably won't be around in a year, whereas, the Rad Rover will and then the Himiway will be an orphan with no support or parts available. I had a Prodecotech E bike for a few years and when I needed some parts for it, I discovered Prodecotech had gone out of business. That is the reason I bought a Radmission because I think Rad Power Bikes they will be around in a few years when I need support.
I actually own a Himi....it truthfully doesn't matter if they will be around or not. Most of these ebikes literally come out of the same factory. All of the parts are sourced third party and are available for purchase. Rad and Himis come out of the same factory, as most of the rest do. They are all just configured different with different parts and branded and resold by companies like Rad, Himiway, Juiced ect.
Nicely done review, quite thorough. Only thing is you keep referring to "having brakes fixed" which I found confusing. "Fixing" something refers to it being broken, as if something were defective. Wearing and replacing pads is just normal wear & tear. When you gas up your car you don't consider it "fixing" something, do you? I haven't ridden a bike since probably about the time you were born and for some reason I can't get e-bikes outta my head. I'm moments away from dropping the dime on one of these! Thx for a good review, I found it useful in the decision!
Good job on the video... I just ordered this bike today! I understand it may take a while to get it, but that's cool. Quite a few to choose from and I think this will be a great bike and a lot of fun! Do you have a video for the brake maintenance you talked about?
I am curious to find out how does it compares with NCM Moscow Plus? This Himiway is currently $1.5K, Moscow is 1.28K, but Moscow has hydraulic breaks, the rest looks to be relatively the same, but both are positioned as multi-purpose units.
@@mikeyg5159 Are you currently living in Portland..? I'm planning a 2 day overnight campout on May 23-24th (Memorial Day Weekend) . Going to Barton Campground. Tyson and Court are coming, you should think about it if your here. Robb
Himiway Cruiser is the best e-bike on the market right now, I’d recommend to anyone. Seen some other cool ones but how multi purpose this one is, looks nice, works well and it’s half to a third of a price of most other ones I’ve checked out. It’s a really good bike.
3 years later & been beaten to hell & back, but my Himiway Cruiser is still going strong, rides fast and regularly gets me between 50-65 miles per charge.
I have always wanted to find an E-bike as a gift for my husband in the spring. After watching this video today, I think Himiway is the one I want. I am sure my husband will like it.
I have researched several similar bike sellers, but I think Himiway is more concerned about the customer's service. They have a lot of bike accessories, I think it's great!
At 25:46, seems the battery has depleted pretty quick. I understand the cold and certain riding conditions affect the battery but that seemed to quick. Thanks for posting.
I just need to know one thing . I haven't got an answer to it yet.. u need an app and phone . Is that necessary for all rides? What r it's capabilitys without a phone ? Would it still work if I somehow lose my phone
I have a few questions as I will be new in riding e bikes. If I purchase this what happens if my cadence sensor breaks or the motor breaks? Are those relatively easy to replace given I watch a few RU-vid tutorials? Other than the battery, motor and a few cables and sensors can I go to a regular bike shop if say my brakes or suspension needs work?
I need help. I bought a Himiway and received it 2/15/21. All good out of the box and for 3 rides. On my 4th ride lost all power had to walk it home. After checking all connections and finally getting to tech support it was determined controller was the problem. I paid $99 to have a new controller. It has been 11 days and my controller has not been confirmed for delivery. Please help.
It's funny, every Rad Rover owner loves their bike. It's only other bike owners, usually ones that pay 4k or more, that have bad things to say. There are no bad reviews of the Rad Rover where fair reviews are made.
Yea it would be nice if the could deliver,I ordered in October, haven’t got the bike yet .every time I email them my date gets lares and later, now it mid December
Do you know how many charges the Samsung Battery will take before it needs to be replaced...If it can be replaced? The batteries have been showing out of stock on the Himiway site for quite a while now. This bike has a lot of bang for the buck but it's a non starter if you can't get a battery replacement or spare when needed.
Batteries are the least of your problems with this bike, its' the company and their terrible customer service that is the real problem. Here of late they are seeming more like a total scam. Why am I surprised they area Chinese company.
I didn't hear how much the bike weight is. If the battery goes out of juice and you have to pedal for a good distance will it exhaust you because of the weight?
I have never owned a "light" racing bike, just my old steel frame that probably weighs 20-25lbs. You can feel the difference in pedaling, especially since this has 7 gears instead of 21. But the lower gears are very forgiving and the bike is quite rideable without power assist. Depends on how strong a cyclist you are beyond that point.
based on the function of the derailleur guard how come yo think they are silly/don't like them/ i never hear that before so interested to here your reasoning.
My guess is that he mainly rides in city/urban, with lower risk for to bike fall over, and that when there doesn't park in congested racks. Just guesses. Was curious to hear more, also.
just got my himiway bike and rode it for 1 day, had checked the tires they were completely fine and checked it out the next morning and both tires completely flat so ive made a call to the customer support multiple times and got a reply back from one of your people, it seems he is going to help me out. i live in California and i hope this bike can handle these roads cause that was a verry stressful experience having dropped 1.5k$ into this for getting to work
I bought this bike back im February and it already broke down on me. It’s good a bike for a stroll but for someone like me who is a bike messenger in New York City it’s definitely not the best bike.
@@Zorichai im just now getting my new armor flat tire inserts installed with the new inner tubes customer service sent me after both tires went flat from riding it for a day in Cali, we got them installed today, and the guy tested out my bike's gears and the chain kept slipping so he realized there was a metal piece deep in the gear shifter that was bent, and he took apart the rear gear shifter and hammered it back into a straight line, then while installing it back on he had to re-thread the bolt cause somehow it kept trying to thread in crooked-like, and this guy is an expert mechanic, he's already got a motorcycle and is building a car from scratch after gutting out an old jeep, and he was scratchin his head soo many times he told me after 3 hours that he would finish it in the morning, so i know this guy is legit cause he is my brother's co-worker in the military, and im eagerly waiting since June, to get this bike back on the road, i spent 100$ on the 2 amored tire inserts, and i hadnt had a job since march, cause of the pandemic and i moved from a phase 1 covid town, to Cali when i arrived they went from phase 4 back to phase 1, so all this time ive been runnin out of money asking my parents cross country for help for food cause life is cruel to me sometimes but i know it isnt the bike company's intention, so i hope soon i will have a good experience with the bike and never have to worry about the tires going flat again.
board flow dude you shouldn’t have had to pay for shit. The bike has a 1 year warranty so they should’ve sent you the tires for free. If you explain the situation, how you just got the bike etc under their policy they should’ve sent you whatever you need
@@Zorichai they did send me the tires for free, they did not believe me in my email, it was not until my stepdad sent the 2nd email that they sent me the tires, as stated, they said the warranty did not cover the tires, but as the case was my email did not convince them, my stepdad's email did convince them. but the bigger problems has been the bike was resting on its side in the box while being shipped and it caused the back gears to get warped so there was a 2nd issue of the bike chain slipping which i did not find out until i got my new inner tubes installed along with 2- fortyfive dollar flat-tire armor inserts i bought after to avoid it happening again and upon a friend installed the tires he tested the gears out and realized a piece of metal was warped and had kept the gears from changing properly and the gears were slipping, my guess is it was resting on its side for a long time during shipping or storage and caused the rear gears to bend inwards. and the other issue was the staples which sealed the box shut were stapled beneath the box where the tires rested on, and the huuuge metal staples had punctured the wheels
Hi Thanks for the great information. This is the bike I want. Is that a quick-release on the front tire? I SOMEHOW want to be able to get it into the trunk of my car. If need be, I'll splurge and get a bike rack. Thanks again!
I wish the taillight was better integrated into the bike, brake light, etc. There are videos showing how to modify the control panel to accomplish the 0 setting.
Hi there, nice review, thanks a lot. I´m 1 meter 92 tall and 140kg heavy! Do you think this Himiway bike would make it for me? Of course, I have to loose a few kilos in the coming month to be back on shape and I´m looking for a strong E-bike who will help me to do so. Thanks a lot for your answer ;-)
Question: I am just starting out for off road biking in Utah parks. Looking at bmx knee pads elbow pads because I think the rocks and I will be friends more than I want. Too cautious or not enough? Thanks for tips
Mikey G thank you. Happy New Year. I also am somewhat disabled, why I am getting ebike. Bought a great Schwinn F3 after putting together, slipped in sand rocks but face firsted in sand on hurt pride. Cut shin getting up. Had new bike gloves or it would have torn skin. I forgot about pads. Be Safe and enjoy the wilderness and life, again Thank You.
From your starting ride at 18 minutes to ending around 25 minutes, you used more than half the battery life by the looks of it. Am I reading that wrong?
The bars on the upper left are the pedal assist level, and the curvy graph is the throttle assist level. The battery level is actually read from the battery which we can’t see. Hope this helps. 😀
@@12GaugePadawan It does and a bit embarrassed that's what I thought it was, lol! Thank you! Still gauging between RadRover and this one...this made me sway more towards the Himiway and I thank you for that.
@@RusticVentures Actually, I’m the one who should be embarrassed. I’m the kid who eagerly raised their hand only to blurt out the wrong answer. 🤦🏼♀️ Sorry about my flub...ugh...I was way off. The upper left is the battery level after all. I went to Himiway’s site and looked up the manual. Page 9 confirms that you’re right. 👍🏻 At 23:56 of the video, it shows that the bike now only has three bars left and the assist (on the upper right) is at 5. That means around 40% of the battery has been used 😬 in that bit of riding...though he might have exited out some of the less exciting parts. 😀 himiwaybike.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/360074753013/Himiway_Cruiser_Owner_s_Manual_Digital_Version.pdf I just got my Rad Rover 5 a couple of days ago. Hope you enjoy your bike! If you pass me on the road, I will be the one with their head bowed in shame. 😄
Great question! I've been telling the team to pick helmets and accessories that they really like, so maybe this is a new one for Mikey. I haven't asked about it yet :D
Can you confirm that it has a Lüanxing motor? I cant find anything on Lüanxing motors on google, is it spelled another way? Is there a model number on it?
I've been thinking about an ebike and have spent a zillion hours researching here and there. I'm right at 300 lbs and this bike claims to support up to 350 lbs hence my interest, but then it weighs 72 lbs (oh la la). Don't live anywhere close to a mountain terrain and usage would be in a typical NYC residential streets etc, generally getting around for leisure and fun and exercise. Have seen a few lighter weight bikes but their max payload weight is much less. How has this Himiway been holding up for you so far?
Just curious....Who are you? Where is Court? Are you his brother? You both look similar? Ive seen you in a few other videos and wondered, "I thought this was Court's bike channel, who is this guy". Anyway, good bike review. Thanks
Up to 20mph with throttle only, and up to 25mph with pedal assist. And that's just 25mph before power assist cuts out, you can go faster on the downhill or if you pedal faster, of course. I've heard it is easy to derestrict but haven't tried it. Brakes might be a little weak to regularly be pushing it over 30mph.
@@Thundernoob98 That’s good to hear that you got your bike but unfortunate that the box was damaged. My dad actually ordered one last week and I noticed that they created a shipping label for FedEx, but it says a pending update on the shipping and I’ve read a lot of people saying that the shipping usually takes a few months. How long did it take your bike to come in?
I got the same bike that I built myself I got a 52 volt battery and the 30 amp controller 750 watt rear hub motor 52t chainring And 11-28 in the rear that will kick that bikes ass.

@@robertmyers2813 yes I pre ordered in April Will ship last wk June . At time of My order fenders were inc . Bike was on sale @ fenders inc as part of special .
@@markbeliveau1498 customer service ? What customer service ? I don't think they HAVE any ! Bike arrived @ the bike shop ( they put it together for me ) w / tail light broken off flush w/ rack . No attempt to replace / repair ! Hope You don't need customer service for anything serious !
The max capacity is stated at 350lbs. I'm hitting it at 240lbs+clothes and it seems to hold up well, though I do seem to run down the battery faster than advertised (as expected). The 6'4" part probably won't be a big issue as it has a lot of room for adjustment on the seat. Might strain the battery and motor a bit more at the 350lb+ mark, so it's gonna be a stretch. But being a bigger guy myself, I looked around for higher weight capacity ebikes and didn't find any. If you want an ebike it's likely this, or you custom make one. Best answer I can give.
Many people on the facebook Himiway Motorbike owners club are having issues with broken bikes and bent frames with the company not honoring the warranty, you can check out this information for yourself by joining the page and seeing the posts. Buyer beware
48 volts, 17.4 amp hours, 840 watt hours (according to what Mikey measured). We post all of the stats back at the main site and try to mention them in videos too, but don't always get it perfect: electricbikereview.com/himiway/cruiser-ebike/
I bought a Himiway Zebra on Father's day. Figured I'd take advantage of the deal. I wish I could say I've been enjoying it, but have received NOTHING. Due to a shipping mixup, I have no bike, but I'm out nearly $2k. And Hemiway has done NOTHING. Their customer support is USELESS. All I get is a stream of "we're looking into it. Thank you for your patience." emails. Perhaps if people start seeing how HW treats their customers, it might light a fire under their behinds.
Thank you for your informative videos. Hoping you can help. My Himiway is suffering an error code 30. When I perform the steps suggested on page 13 of the manual, no luck. No accident occurred, nothing like that. I was pedaling in first gear up a hill in PAS1 and the motor just stopped working. Had to pedal the bike 5 miles to get home. It was a good/tiring workout, and now hoping for an easy fix. I'm waiting for Himiway to respond, but in the meantime, can you help?
Looks a lot like a RadRover clone with a different set of stock accessories, right down to the faux leather grips. The review is a little out of date. According to their web site, they're now including fenders, and a wired tail light, both of which are improvements over the reviewed version. Totally not crazy about a no-name motor, though. Nice amp hour capacity on the battery. The gear cog selection isn't very good -- the Rover's is more complete. The Rover also has a nicer chain guide/guard. The location for the controller seems ill-considered. I know the bike isn't intended for rough play, but the controller is unprotected. No "0" on the PAS? That's weird. Does it have a "walk" mode? The higher payload limit on the Himiway (350 vs 275 for the Rover) is better suited to larger riders and more gear.
Yes there is a "0" PAS mode. Hit minus button once to change from 1 to 0. Walk mode is hold minus button until bike starts to walk. Your welcome and have a nice day
It seems the vendor would have to pay for such an updated review , so address the question to them. Correct me if I'm wrong, Court or others. Thanks for all you do.
They include fenders now, but no more phone mount, rear light or cheapo pump included and instead of sunglasses you get a hat. I'd get a handlebar extender and bring that display back into view... smile.amazon.com/s?k=bike+handlebar+extension&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 But from all my research, this is the value leader in a bike that can be unlocked to Class III speeds, and including such a large battery and the most common accessories of fenders, rack and light. The next thing that would have made sense to add would have been hydraulic brakes, but of course that would have raised the price. I like that you can also customize your speed choices for the pedal assist. So now, you can set "0" as an option in pedal assist as well as different numbers of steps.
Purchased the bike with an extra battery 6 months ago, still don't have the extra battery and now the bike is sending an error code and does not work, after going back and forth with them on the issue, they want me to buy another controller. The bike is under full warranty but i need to buy a defective part because they sold me a pile of shit. I don't think so. My advise stay away from this company!!!!!!
Complete scam. There are a lot of "companies" offering insane deals for 1/10th the price on items using stock photos and shipping from China. They say shipping takes 2-3 months, take your money, and all orders for a few months, then disappear. Anything that looks too good to be true, IS.
Maybe the shape is a bit similar, It 's like the same type of bicycle. But the features of the bikes are very different, and the features of this bike are obviously better than rad rover.
I think it's legally limited to 25mph with pedal assist and 20mph with throttle only. You can go faster, but the motor won't be helping you. Supposedly you can reprogram it to go up to 30 (depending on rider weight and conditions), but it has regular (non-hydraulic) disc brakes and it's a heavy bike, so caution is advised. Also, technically illegal in most states if you mod it about factory restrictions.
My experiences with Himiway customer support can be summed up with two words: Caveat Emptor (Consumer Beware). They simply do not seem to have the concern or infrastructure to resolve any warranty issue in a timely manner. My first bike had been previously removed from the box (showroom model?), was delivered damaged and without a key for the battery. Their only suggestion was to look for the parts myself .... on Amazon. After several weeks, they finally agreed to replace the bike. Now after waiting five weeks for a replacement battery charger, I have realized it's time to start shopping for another bike from a brand that cares about its customers.
Harsh, but true. Perhaps the battery design or color scheme of the bike. I find that there are many similar ebikes now that the industry has really taken off, but the frequently have little differences in components and design. It's nice to have choice, but it's true that there is usually a more dominant company, and RAD leads in that way in several categories of ebikes right now.
You cut the part of the video where you went through the mud. That gives me biased review vibes. I'm sure the bike got stuck in the mud which is why you made an edit there 🤔
