We're back with another banger for the '...And Justice For All' album. This one is Harvester Of Sorrow. After listening to multiple songs now from this album I actually feel like I don't have a problem with the production quality. I can see the differences from the first 3 albums but I still think this one is a masterpiece.
Here is my reaction to hearing Metallica - Harvester Of Sorrow for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

@@arjunmukherjee3347 From a mixing and engineering perspective, I disagree. It's FAR from perfect. The bass isn't low, it's non-existent. I've tinkered with the stems and made it sound considerably better and more full, but I love the album and the original production is part of that. It has its own sound. One of my favourite Metallica tracks, always thought it was much heavier than The Thing that Should Not Be, though most people seem to disagree. The live version from Moscow is absolutely brutal: 10/10. This is a song that really benefits from having Jason bass in the mix, so the live versions feel much ‘bigger’. I think your next step should be to check out the live versions of a lot of these songs. In terms of going beyond the thrash bands you mentioned, not sure how much exposure you have to other 80’s bands. But I could give you a tonne of recommendations from bands like Ratt, Skid Row, Queensryche, early Pantera, etc. The 80’s had so many excellent metal bands; it truly was the time when metal was on top of the world!

Lars’ drumming has inspired some of the most iconic drummers and have said it’s not always about speed and tricks. Lars’ playing was unique and always purposeful, inspired generations to drum. Both Lars and Kirk are very talented and were the perfect ones for Metallica as all of them (with Cliff) had the same vision as pioneers of Thrash metal. When jokingly asked if Joe Satriani (taught Kirk before Metallica) ever thought why Metallica didnt go for him instead of Kirk, he said he wouldnt want to come between what they were starting because he could see they were on to something big. Thrash metal. Rant over.

Yes it suffers a bit with the bass getting lost, but they had just lost Cliff, their ears were shot, and wanted to push the limit of a scooped aggressive guitar sounds. This song is special for me because it’s the first song i ever heard from Metallica. My classmate back in the day was singing it and i was like what are you singing and he said i took this cassette from my older brother this band is amazing we went into the school bathroom because a “walkman” was not allowed at school obviously i listened to the song and got hooked then my classmate and i would gather money from our allowance and buy the cassettes and listen to the songs try to decipher the lyrics as best as we could given our age and that English isn’t our mother tongue. True this song doesn’t have the longest most complicated solo but the solo fits perfectly and it’s the song where James growls the most (you should check the live version at Moscow). Oh my hell, you restarted this song for the intro... MollyBoy - you are definitely my tribe. I listen to this intro, over and over and over. I have made the intro one of my ring tones and use it for everything! One of my all time favorite Metallica songs, along with all their instrumentals. Those songs are just gorgeous pieces of music. And to your question of what other bands to check out that'll do well, AC/DC, Godsmack, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, maybe some G&R (guns & roses), more Judas Priest, Korn, Rob Zombie, Rammstein. Some popular but maybe not as metal, Billy Idol, The Cult, Motley Crue, Led Zepplin (old school rock and HUGE rabbit hole), Queensryche (circa 80-90), and Van Halen. And more of my most recentfavn, no genre, every genre band, Falling in Reverse. It's a kaleidoscope list of music and artists but worth the time to check them out. Alot of hidden gems here. Maybe look up song names, see the most downloaded and list them for a 'you pick my next song reaction' contest for your subscribers. Keep the reactions coming, love your channel.

You have been reacting to some of my favourite 80's Thrash bands. Here's some more from that era. Overkill, Testament, Forbidden, Nuclear Assault, Exodus (the band that Kirk Hammett founded and named before joining Metallica) Flotsam & Jetsam (the band Jason Newsted was with before joining Metallica), Annihilator (my favoutite band from my home country, Canada), Sabbat (England) Kreator, (Germany), Sodom, (Germany), Destruction (Germany), Stone (Finland), Voivod (Canada, Jason Newsted apparently helped them comeback from retirement), Razor (Canada), Sacrifice (Canada), Suicidal Tendencies (Crossover Thrash), Stormtroopers of Death (Scott Ian of Anthrax's Crossover Thrash project), Artillery (Denmark) Coroner (Switzerland). There are so many fantastic Thrash bands from the 80's that I can't recall at the moment as I am quite inebriated. When I do remember them, i will comment them on future reaction videos. A few New Wave of Thrash Metal bands that are influenced by the bands listed above that I have stumbled upon in the past 15 years... Evile (England, The Metallica influence oozes from their tunes) Lich King (U.S.), Havok (U.S.), Suicidal Angels (Greece, the Slayer influence is strong with these dudes), Nocturnal (Germany), Nocturnal Breed (Norway), Angelus Apatrida (Spain, the Slayer influence is strong with these dudes too), 3 Inches of Blood (Canada), Lazarus A.D. (U.S. the vocalist and bassist, Jeff Paulick, looks like he's Dimebag Darrell Abbott's bastard love child). Once again, too inebriated to remember and list them all and will comment them on future videos. Still feeling very nostalgic watching your reactions, keep 'em coming, my young Metal brother!!! 🤘

This was the first song I heard off this album when they played it on the Monsters Of Rock tour, a few months before the album came out. They had the second set in a five band bill, but the wildest fans of the day by far. I bought a white Metallica tank top, which I still have.

You can “hear” music or “experience” music…. I appreciate how you experience music! I’ve been with Metallica since 86 and have witnessed their phenomenal live show 12 times so far🤘🏻… I’d love to see your reaction to “Gently” by Slipknot!… that song found me and the first time I heard it, my soul said “YES!!!! This is me!!!🤘🏻”…. That is what lives inside me bro🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

It's so much fun watching a young man react to Metallica. Been a fan since 85. I was 13 and heard Ride. I still feel the same way whether I see them live or listening to the albums. And Justic is the Apex Predator of thrash metal. After that album they could not go anywhere else except The Black album.

Best thing you can do is put the CD in, push play and listen to the whole album. Not too many bands and or CD’s you can do that with. This is definitely one that you can! Keep up the killer channel bro!🤘😎🤘

I got to hear this song 2 months before the And Justice for All album released when they previewed it for us at the Monsters of Rock concert in Miami in 1988. Needless to say we ran out and bought the album first thing later that year.

Regarding you mentioning that the melody from the one track sounded a lot like the other off the same album, when you eventually get around to "To Live Is To Die", there's a bit from "Blackened" in there as well.

To me the beginning of this track sounds almost tribal, or like soldiers marching into battle( I had it on repeat while playing CoD), tis one of my favourites from this album. Closely followed by every other track..........lol congrats on 21k...

I know I for one definitely like checking out all the videos. Hopefully we have a crowd too which won’t only engage with stuff that’s already heavily been done. This one is cool as it’s a less reacted to one for the band. I think you’d also easily get into some of the German peers of these bands; stuff like Rage - Don’t Fear The Winter (the original album, from 1987) , Running Wild - Marooned, Grave Digger - Rebellion (The Clans Are Marching).

Harvester of Sorrow is so good, and often overlooked on this album. Justice is full of amazing tracks but for some reason this one hits so hard.

Ive had this album since it came out. And it is still my favorite Metallica album. People can talk all they want about how good or bad they think Metallica are. But theyve been hitting it hard since the early 80s. And still pushing out music. Sure theyve changed. But who wouldnt over that time? My personal favorites are all of the albums up to and including this album. I am really loving watching your reactions and your discovery of into new geners of music. Just have fun brother.
