Namjoons lyrics are like peeling an onion, there are so many layers to just one line, don't piss the boy off, he'll come at you. As an Idol he has to put on a specific persona all innocent and clean and when people put him down for it, he can't do anything about it but smile, but when solo, he vents all that pent up bullsh*t and here is a prime example. RM is one of the best rappers in the world today, he has substance in lyrics.

Also there is mentio in other songs about rappers in Korea that rap in English not because they speak it but because it 'sounds good' or cool or whatev but doesn't actually make any real sense RM also references it here with the bibity-bobity part i think...

This song was RM responding to those rappers like you said, because they said he no longer had Flow now that he became an Idol instead of an underground rapper. He said even when he's saying lyrics that don't make sense, he's still got Flow and better than them.
It's fun to see a reactor actually being smart enough to decipher this message from the first listen. Since some of his messages aren't really on the nose, like joke, which as you rightfully realized is kind of meta in itself, many don't actually realize his genius. Taking the techniques from other rappers, to show that he can do all that, but chooses not to. Flexing on them, while calling their skills useless. It's a genius move. Naming the song joke is the cherry on top for me. "Yeah, I just used 9 different flows back to back, showing of my flawless rhyme scheme, but it was just a joke to me, actually I don't needa do all that shit, to make actual good music."

idk if you noticed but there was actually no chorus in this song or anything close to a normal structure of a song. If I remember correctly, he used 9 different flows in this and was so seamless with the transitions, you barely notice most of them

This was a great reaction, you got the point of the title! It's like RM is pointedly telling others "this is just a joke in the end" like he goes this hard but he finds the whole thing to be a joke and he's not being serious about it. So when he does actually get serious...?
@@AltSpace Exaaactly hahaha. I will say though, RM is actually more of a poet when it comes to his music, I don't think you've seen that side of him yet (most obvious in his 2nd mixtape, Mono). This is the hardcore angry rapper side of him that he's kind of grown from now, and thi I love both sides, his recent music has seen him find a very different style that he's found to suit him. I hope you enjoy them as you listen to more of BTS' music 😊
Haters kept saying he can’t rap fast so he came out with this “joke” showing how others that rap fast have no structure or meaning to their song like he did and that you need to think about structure and meaning and bars in a good pace and he’s literally mocking them .

If you want more rap I have a couple but I also have some rock (K-rock), or regular songs. As for the references, I suggest watching an explanation video, I have a few ideas but I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction.
What i love about BTS is that they don't even drop names ..or sumthing like that in their diss..they just drop a bomb and watch everyone making it about them

I always love your reactions because you take time to give the lyrics and content genuine thought and consideration and try to understand them instead of glossing over it and hearing your analysis is interesting. Really appreciate your reactions! If you like this kind of track you would likey enjoy the cyphers done by all three rappers that were included on BTS albums. J-hope has a solo mixtape as well and his style is different from RM's and SUGA's but he's very good. I would recommend Airplane and Baseline. Appreciate it, would love to see you do more of RM's stuff! I personally really like "God Rap" from his first mixtape (he used a cole sample) and "Forever Rain" from mono, which has a slower tempo and shows a more vulnerable side.

If you’d like more info on RM, there’s a new channel called Bangtan Boot Camp that did a video a couple weeks ago and it’s the best I’ve ever seen. They go into examples of how his wordplay is so impressive. I believe they’re planning to do intros for the other members too.
I think the lyrics about Sweden Germany Brazil and Japan was about how his fame reaches many countries, while the rappers he bashes have got a small reach and their fan base is only in Korea Like the words : The few hip-hop fangirls at Hongdae variety shows are your regulars

hongdae is a university. the "hongdae variety" is most likely a reference to the street near the university where amateurs go to do song cover or dance covers. they're all crowded on that one street and perform at the same time. basically a street for busking

RM has a really high IQ, super smart. Then there were so many underground and popular rappers that gave him and Suga shit for joining BTS, saying they sold out and that real rappers wouldn't do that. There were ever rappers giving them grief who openly admitted they had never listened to BTS or any of the BTS rap or their dolo rap
I love your reactions (and not just the BTS ones!) I enjoy reactors that actually bring something to the table whether it is the cinematography, dancing, singing, etc. And now I have found one that goes through lyrics. Honestly, I enjoy BTS because of their honest and poetic lyrics. To piggy back on other comments, I hope you have a chance to react to or at least listen to Ddaeng and watch the DKDKTV explanation of Ddaeng. The number of meanings the word Ddaeng can take on in a 3 minute song is mind blowing.
This is why ARMY appreciate it when people take the time to look at the English translation of the lyrics and understand what they're singing/rapping about. No shots at A$AP. He is doing what good rappers do. He is using ASAP's lyrics and acknowledging the author. "You must feel envious of my pay Sweden, Germany, Brazil to Japan" is not a diss at foreign rappers but at Korean underground rappers. Notice the word to. He left the underground to become an Idol rapper and this was a list of some of the countries he as leader of very young Idol group BTS visited while the antis were stuck doing underground clubs.
