I do mobility work specific to the workout I'm about to do. Shoulder stuff for bench days, hamstring/hip stuff for squat days, etc.

hey Bryce thanks a bunch for this video a buddy of mine who was a couch potato since he poppe doutta his mom started lifting with me and he couldn't get deep wnough on the squat and he couldn't set up the deadlift right cause of hip mobility and these helped him immensely thanks man you rock

couldnt of said it better, im 6'2, my first times squatting i couldnt get a quarter of the way down, after about a year of mobility work and practice i easily hit ATG, best way to squat !

I notice it helps to do right before a workout, but of course it can be done on off days as well. Just make sure you're addressing your mobility shortcomings and not mine (though they could overlap of course)

theyre both the same length, the light is just thinner, so it has less tension when stretched

having trouble doing sumo deadlifts properly because of tightness in hips.. ordering myself some bands and getting on that mobility!

I would definitely focus on keeping that from happening. If you look downstream, you'd probably find some hamstring/glute tightness that is pulling that low back down as you squat.

thats a little out of my field of knowledge, but I personally would heat the region, keep doing the same stretches unless there's pain, and try to diagnose the cause for the tendonitis and/or ask a doctor.

the very first stretch I do will open up the groin pretty well. So will any type of splits training.

I couldn't really take dieting gram for gram 6 months out of the year for the payoff of competing for one day by bodybuilding. I loved it, respect the sport, and found out I like powerlifting more :)

For stretching out your Achilles would you wrap the band around the top of the knee, save having to lean over the leg leaving you to keep your body in a more natural upright position? just a thought, great stretches thanks for the videos.

That's called buttwink brother. It stems from a combination of poor hamstring and hip mobility. Mostly hamstring. Kelly Starrett wrote a piece called 'Hamstrung'(pdf download) to help remedy tightness in the hamstrings. I had it and I found that static stretching helped alot; even though I hated doing it! I would definitely check out all of the stuff Kelly Starrett has put out regarding hamstrings. His stuff on hip mobility is awesome too.

No. The argument you're making (and the guy below this comment) is saying that taller people can't achieve full range of motion, which simply isn't true. Being taller may impact the weight you're capable of squatting (either positively or negatively), but everyone without specific deficiencies in limbs can get into a deep squat with enough focus and mobility work. Look at all the strongman competitors that are 6'5" and 330lbs and squatting ATG. etc, etc.

Hey Bryce, your advice is really helpful. Could you please also do a video on shoulder mobility. I have really tight shoulders and slight impingement in my right shoulder. I've been doing rotator cuff exercises with resistance bands and it has been helping. What are some other methods I can utilize in order to improve shoulder flexibility and maintain shoulder health?

Bryce, since you are kind of an expert in mobility and flexibility, you've probably heard this before. I see people all the time squatting, and in the bottom of the movement kinda dip their tail a bit, bending their lower backs from a straight line. Is this a matter of mobility and what can you do to improve the form? Thanks for great material!

You mean during my workout? I'll usually do this before a workout, but if you find that calve mobility is the limiting factor, try to get in as many sessions a day as you can. It doesn't have to be near your workout either.

bryce, have you ever played with smashing your achilles/ heel cords before you stretch? kstarr has a few videos on it. it really makes a world of difference when it comes to elevating the level of your stretch. just saying.

Very helpful, wonderful. I working at exactly these problems with similar exercises. Does anyone know where I can find those heavy resistance bands except at EliteFTS=(because the shipping costs are way too expensive) I am from Germany, most of the resistance bands are strong as a rubber band... I don't find a working one. Can you help me?

I don't know if Rogue is any cheaper than EliteFTS - as I am Canadian, and not American or European - however, why not check out Rogue International/Europe Check out Rogue, and at the top check the Circle that says, "Europe" and then under Equipt. By Category>Mobility Rehab>Bands. I checked for you, they offer shipping to Germany, what that costs you though I don't know.

Is there any such thing as overstretching? Would you recommend doing these stretches before and after workout ? I personally have been experiencing lower back pain so I have dropped my deadlift and squate down to one-two plates and have been worrying primarily on form. If any other tips that will be amazing. Aye I play runningback im 20 years old I'm 5'8195 lbs and I'm trying to get faster , Along with the plyometrics and squats I'm doing my hips are really tight will having losser hips while doing this help with my speed?

Bryce...for the Achilles stretch if you have a tough time getting enough weight on your Achilles, cut some handles into your box and pull yourself into it...works wonders without having to dick around with the band.

The biggest culprit is most likely lack of ankle range of motion, then hip, then shoulder. Not an expert just speaking from experience
