Me too! He was so good to me while I was pregnant (catered to me, went to every appointment, etc) then after I gave birth I became an afterthought. He’s a mama’s boy too (only child) and I think it was his plan to get me pregnant because he was nearing 30 and all his friends/classmates were getting married and having babies. He’s 7 years older than me and I was a naive 20 year old when we met. Lord, if I knew then what I know now. 😅 No regrets, just lessons.

He tried to get me to go to the strip club with him. All the while, he had no intention of being with me. I was a friend with benefits for 5 1/2 years. He wore the mask well, and fooled me good. I had a family member tell me that they were so "distraught", after hearing that I had ended a relationship with a grown boy, because he was "so nice". I was born in Ethiopia, and raised here in the states, and 28 years old. All your skin folk is not your kin folk. I have heard and witnessed toxicity inside and outside of the ethnic community. Crazy is crazy, independent of the skin color, tribe, etc. I have learned to judge by character and integrity instead.
Tony is exactly right! When younger, I allowed myself to be duped several times. These are the kind of tricks they'd use. By the time the mask fell, I was too in love to leave. I finally learned my lesson. You have to learn to truly love yourself first and to be content on your own. Then, maybe you're ready for a relationship. At this point, I'd rather not be in one. ( Sidenote- my father died when I was 8, and my mother never remarried. So I had no male role models.)
